in the house where elena platt had grown up, there was a park literally right across the road. whilst it was particularly desolate in comparision to the place she was now sitting, she and her sister had thought it was the best place in the world. equipped with some solemn swings, a slide and a little garden thing to walk through, the platt girls would spend their summers going on epic adventures in that park, rescuing baby birds from the evil clutches of predators, playing hide and seek til they just couldn't count to 100 anymore, running around until they were recalled for dinner. every year, ellie would count down til summer, where she could spend everyday at the park, wishing that it didn't become cold and desolate during the winter. she didn't know why, but she had always loved the park. whereas her sister loved playing at the park, and simply using the park for entertainment purposes, ellie preferred to savour it. the green of the trees, and how the green would usually die to the reds and oranges of autumn. the cold whiteness of winter. the faded colours of the swingset. the underlying beauty in the place where she spent most of her time. perhaps it was for that reason that ellie had never outgrown the park. whereas her sister clearly had outgrown the summer days they shared together as she moved into the new phases of her life, ellie always found herself drawn back to the park in her times of need. it was rarely a concious decision, but for some reason, when she was confused, upset, or just plain lonely, she would find solace with the colours and life of the park. the humming of insects, the calls of birds, laughter of children, whistles of the wind. the park was alive with beauty and organisms. and for some reason, that calmed ellie. the park near the uni was considerably more sophisticated than the one by her house. equipped with a real playground, complete with a firemans pole, and an extensive collection of trails (half of which she hadn't even gotten around to exploring yet), even a water feature somewhere, she was sure of it. it was like an elaborate way of saying 'you're not in kansas anymore'. after all, when compared to her small and much loved park at home, this was more-or-less the godfather of all parks. it was quite insane.
but, in a way, it was good. having a park this inhumanely awesome just five minutes away gave ellie a reason to procrastinate. after all, everyone needed their places to just stop and think, without being reminded of all the assignments coming up, or the problems of the day that needed to be sorted, which was what often occured when ellie tried to relax in her dorm. the park was ellie's place of solace and was where she liked to spend her time. she had spent the last half hour of her two hour defence against the dark arts lecture thinking about how she was going to go straight to the park after this, instead of the usual hanging around after class to "ask professor rowle a question". she could already imagine the crisp air, the bright colours, the sounds of life... the thought of it was making her excited already. and it also made the lecture draw out far longer than what was probably necessary, but when sawyer finally called that the class was dismissed, the wait had been more than worth it. although the sky was slowly starting to set a little lower into the sky and the familiar oranges and reds were overtaking the blue, ellie was still determined to make it to the park, and salvage the little time left in the evening before she was forced to retreat back to the university and begin on those assignments she was swiftily putting off.
when she finally arrived at the park, her expectations were well lived. as it was nearing dark, many of the families and dog walkers were returning home, meaning that soon the only occupant was elena. the sounds of the birds and crickets and various other organisms were prominent, and the bright colours of the trees and playground were not dulled out by the setting sun. this was exactly what she needed today, just some time to sort things out in her head. to relax, to just be herself. not really wanting to go and investigate the unfamiliar tracks tonight, ellie found herself sitting on a step in the main area of the park, watching the sunset, admiring the changing colours in the sky. it hadn't been her intention when she sat down, but as she noticed the combinations of musky yellows and crimson reds, she couldn't help but be distracted by them. how soon they would too fall victim to the purples and blues of the night sky as the moon dominated, the thought to her was quite insane. and soothing. ellie looked away from the sky for a moment or so, looking around at the flowers and fields to spot another lone figure wandering around. she wandered why someone else would be here alone, at this time, instead of with their family, or friends, or, well, something. she watched the person for a few minutes, interested in what it was that had brought them here and wondering whether that reason would become obvious to her over time. and while the reason didn't come to be obvious, the person must have noticed her staring. ellie quickly whipped her eyes away, but not before she caught something familiar in the figure. as soon as her eyes reached her lap, she knew exactly who it was, and smiled. at least now, she wouldn't have to walk back to the university alone. slowly she stood up and made her way to the familiar person who had caught her eye. "well, howdy stranger. how are you?" |
she questioned as she approached the person. [/div] notes, katy fails at open threads outfitword count, 1002 thanks brooklyn from caution

[/div] ยป she sees people for who they are "lalalalalala." singing as she walked down the streets outside of the University grounds, Candice was in a very good mood- not that it ever changed from that, and showing it was exactly what she continued to do. the fresh air was welcoming to her. the night sky settling in, pulling her in to the darkness she looked forward to each day. being a vampire, the daylight bothered her. unlike most in the muggle world thought, she didn't burn up being out in it. instead, it bothered and felt like needles were sticking out of her skin and pulling themselves out, only to repeat the stabbing into her part all over again. overtime, she got used to it and failed to care any longer. other vampires, like some of her sisters, never got used to it and just didn't venture outside until dusk at least rolled around; and that was what it was now. today, Candice had stayed inside until dusk for only one reason; to examine food. the blonde had made her way down to the kitchen where the elves were cooking and sat down. they knew her by this time, knowing her to taste any food they gave her for fun, no matter how gross it would really taste. because, to a human, their food to her was similar to soil/fertilizer to them. but still, it intrigued her and deep down, she wished she was human, able to eat everything without having it taste so.. weird. a whole line of foods were placed in front of her, each on a plate for her to reach out and take from. starting from the middle and working her way to the left one and then the right one before repeating, she found a few more food that were tolerable; an exact one being cheese nips. the cheesy orange crackers felt so delicate in her hand. one wrong movement of her hand and it would crumble into a thousand crumbs. popping another into her mouth, she swallowed and then thanked the house elves before exiting the kitchen and feeling the time of dusk rolling around; an actual perk of being a vampire- telling time without a clock or seeing the sky. deciding almost instantaneously that she was going on an 'adventure' to the wind would take her. wandering around, she needed no direction because she didn't care where she ended, as long as it was somewhere. Allowing her hair to flow in the wind, Candice was at peace with the world. It was good to her every day, bringing different things for her to experience and allowing her to live just one more day. She was thankful to say the least. The fact that she was a vampire may have her wishing things were different some days, but in all honesty she knew things could be worse and therefore didn't ever complain. She had a life and that was all that mattered to her at the end of the day.
Candice was a peculiar person to say the least. most, when they came across her, were unsure of what to think. that or they automatically hated her. either way, it didn't matter to the blonde because she wasn't very perceptive. she hardly noticed even when someone hated her and it was put smack down in front of her face. this was why, even when someone in the distance was staring at her intensely she wasn't freaked out or offended. instead, she recognized the person and let out an excited yell, unfazed by the fact that if she hadn't taken a closer look, that it may have been some creepy forty-old man looking to abduct somebody. who knows. she was prey for weirdo's, just like every other attractive young female out there. the only difference was that, if actually put into the situation, she could easily out strong even a full grown man on roids. "ELENA!" she exclaimed as the girl walked her way and Candice hopped her way over to meet her half way. in the world, no matter what country, the Bludd girl new at least one person. she was amazing at making friends because of the fact that people intrigued her and she wasn't shy. keeping to herself never seemed to cross her mind, instead she always approached another who was around and made nice. something similar in the past had happened with her and the fellow Gryffindor and though it had been awhile, she was none the less excited to see her again. "how are you?" pausing, Candice examined the outfit Elena was wearing before gasping. "GREAT. OUTFIT. where did you get it? oh merlin! it looks amazing on you too. have you noticed? i'm sure you have. and others too. am i the first to point it out?" the obsession for fashion that the Gryffindor had had her almost always looking over what the friend she was accompanied by's outfit. she wasn't lying either- she really did think it was fantastic. and that it looked amazing on her friend. personally, Candice had chosen out a unique outfit this morning. the girl wore a dress that went from light to dark in a series of a white breast area to a light blue getting darker as progressing down the outfit. with that, white nylons to even out the color tones. many people would be unable to pull off what she was, but Candice knew that if she thought she could work it, she could. one thing she wasn't oblivious in was the fashion world and although it was strange to wear, it worked out. for her anyways. breathing in the air around her, she listened to the sounds of nature as she smiled over at her friend, glad to have company despite the fact that it hadn't been anticipated in the beginning. some surprises were for the better, which was exactly why she neither liked or hated them. it all depended on the situation to determine how the girl would react. katy, 1002, sorry for the wait!
