[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]being a literature major was a bit more difficult then Donovan had thought it would be. it wasn't that he couldn't handle it, he enjoyed the challenge it presented. it was just as of late his mind would wander to other things whilst the Professor was droning on about some piece Shakespeare wrote. it was fascinating for a wizarding school really, seeing as most of the authors they studied were muggles. anicent muggles but muggles nonetheless. Donovan didn't mind that to be honest, blood mattered very little to him. it didn't make a lick of difference to him if someone was a pure wizard of if someone was a muggle born. they had just as much right to be in their world as anyone else did in his mind. the only real time blood mattered to him was when it was what he was drinking. ever since he had nearly killed that little girl in the orphanage he couldn't bring himself to actually drink from a human being. the thought was always there in his mind, especially when he was in class surrounded by others. it just wasn't something he could do though. the only time he drank human blood was if it came in a bag from a blood bank. generally it was cold so he didn't actually know what blood tasted like fresh from a human, having only tasted it once. which was a memory he'd rather forget then constantly bring recollection too. in fact most of his childhood was something he'd rather forget. except for the day that he met the ever gorgeous Nyla Rowle. now that was a day that not only changed his life but gave him something to live for. Donovan really wasn't a depressive sort of man but as a child his life was miserable enough that it was barely an existence. that was pre Nyla though, the bright eyed little girl gave him much to be thankful for.
she was no longer a bright eyed little girl though. oh no, she had grown into a very beautiful young women with curves that Donovan often fantasized about. curves that he had once touched, caressed if you will. she was one person that he couldn't get enough of and that alone terrified him. he had known for quite some time that he was in love with his best friend but had hardly done anything about it since his seventh year. for several reasons, some not so obvious as others. the first being that she was his best friend. he honestly didn't know what he would do without her. sure he had Dahlia as a best friend too, but in truth no one compared to Nyla. getting in a relationship with her could potentially destroy that and Donovan wasn't sure he was ready to risk that. when he was eighteen he thought he was. he had thrown caution to the wind and did more with his best friend then he ever thought he would. when the realization came though of how much he would loose if something came between them, he fled like a little child. he had no desire to hurt his best friend because in turn that would be hurting himself. Nyla being his best friend may have been the biggest reason for him not to pursue something more between them but it wasn't the only one. the fact that he could not only cause her emotional harm but physical harm also stopped him dead in his tracks.
Nyla was one person on the face of the planet that could make Donovan loose control. which was something that he desperately needed to keep. without control well he'd be biting pretty much everyone around him and that wouldn't be very good. no body knew he was a vampire and that was the way he liked it. if one thing was for sure it was that he didn't want his best friend to know that he was a vampire. the girl had an unhealthy obsession with them, leaving Donovan to constantly fear for her life. he didn't understand what her fascination with them was, but he knew she'd go to whatever lengths it took to become one. including wandering out into the forbidden forest in her fifth year to achieve just that. it had scared him half to death and it only solitude his conviction to not tell her. how could he tell her? she'd want him to bite her, something he'd never be able to do. he wanted her love because of him not because of what he was. something he wasn't sure he'd get if she knew he was a vampire. though he hated keeping such a big secret from Nyla, he knew it was for the best. it helped that he had always been a secretive person so she didn't really pry. Donovan could see the curiousness in her eyes sometimes though when he would say certain things. like she wanted to ask, wanted to know more but wasn't sure she should. he wasn't sure how he would handle any of her questions if she did ask about his past but he knew he wouldn't lie to her. the things of his past might not be his brightest or proudest moments but he couldn't change that they happened.
aside from his thoughts of Nyla and his rather large pile of assignments growing on his desk, there was something else occupying his thoughts. who knew there was that much room? certainly not him. however Dahlia Malfoy, his other best friend, was just someone he couldn't stop thinking about. ever since Hogwarts the two of them had been friends. sometimes there had felt like something more could have existed between them but with Donovan's lack of commitment and their friendship it just never happened. he was happy for her when she got married and even adored her son when he came along. hell the child was like a nephew to him, and he spoiled Orion rotten. he might not have had much to give but what he did he tended to waste away on the young boy. teaching him things he probably shouldn't but that was the fun part of being an Uncle. when he heard of the crash that took his best friends husband from her and that precious little boy, he was devastated. he didn't even remember how he got to Dahlia all he remembered was that he did. Donovan could never imagine the pain she went through but he was determined not to let her go through it alone. dividing his time between Nyla and Dahlia that year became a bit of a handful but he knew he needed to be there for Dahlia. it took a while for him to get used to the fact that when he went and saw Dahlia his little man wouldn't be there. focusing on Dahlia was his only escape from those thoughts. it was a rough year. death should be something he was accustom to really but Donovan didn't think anyone really could be used to death.
running his hand through his hair as he stared down at one of his incompletely assignments, it really was worthless to even try to finish it now. Donovan knew this, but he wasn't one really to give up. besides, it was due tomorrow and he had barely started it. if he could focus he would have it done in no time but he couldn't seem to bring his thoughts to his classes. it wasn't unusual for the two girls to take up most of his time but this was getting a bit crazy. now they were invading his thoughts every time he turned around. he needed some air. yes. that would help. pushing his chair away from his desk with a bit more force then he intended he rose up. stretching his arms above his head causing the muscles in his stomach to ripple. grabbing the shirt that he had earlier discarded, he begun tugging it on as he left his room. opening the door as the shirt came over his head, his body colliding with another. quickly tugging the shirt down he chuckled a bit when he saw his best friend. "why hello there." he greeted Nyla, letting his shirt fall down over his abs. leaning down and placing a kiss on her cheek, then resting against the door frame. "i was just heading for some air. care to join me?" Donovan asked. air would be a good thing considering his thoughts now went directly to their seventh year. it may have been dark out, but he didn't care. he needed the cold air now. |

flightless birdso come here, and never leave this place. perfection of your face slows me down, slows me down. so fall down, i need you to trust me. go easy, don't rush me. help me out, why don't you help me out? nyla was used to not being in the spotlight. having as many siblings as she did, it was ordinary for her to simply vanish into the background. as a child, she had been extremely outgoing -- she had to be in order to receive any amount of attention from her father. daniel rowle was a man from old money -- he had the necessary means to provide for a large family without the help of a wealthy marriage to another pureblooded witch. however, having this money also meant that he had other things to do with his spare time. he loved his children, that much was clearly evident, but he typically only spent a few hours a day in his house, so seeing them was generally limited. nyla liked to believe that she was one of the few siblings that were extremely close to their father, but in reality she knew that she was merely making up for the lack of a relationship with her own mother. they once had one, contrary to common belief, but once daniel gave her the boot in their longterm affair, nyla was out the door as well. most mothers would have been there for their children regardless, but nyla's mother was different. they had bonded over a shared adoration of fashion and all things shopping, but unknown to nyla, that was the extent of their relationship. of course it had been heartbreaking to realize that her mother would no longer send letters, no longer offer for nyla to spend the summer in paris with her, no longer care and adore her as she seemingly had in the past. from that moment on, nyla rowle had no mother. she had only her absentee father, and her kazillion other siblings. granted, she absolutely adored her siblings, but it never filled the hole that having a mother would have. nothing could. but somehow or another, some things made her forget about all of her family dilemmas. one of those people was milo vladislav. more commonly known to everyone else as donovan vladislav, but nyla had never called him that. it was milo; only milo. from the very moment he had uttered his last name in introducing himself, nyla had called him milo. he was free to call her anything he liked, though in the past few years she had added the condition, "within reason" to that statement. of course, milo had always been a gentleman to her, despite what many other people tended to think. it wasn't hard to observe that milo frequently ended relationships, only to start a new one a week later. it was something called 'being a tool', as she had heard it, but she could never see milo being that disrespectful to any woman, let alone herself. it was true, what everyone had suspected -- nyla did have feelings for her best friend. but she wasn't the only one who thought that milo was attractive. merlin, no. all the girls adored him, unfortunately enough, which meant a whole lot more competition for nyla to keep up with. of course, it wasn't like she stood the chance anyway -- the two of them had gone down that road long ago, and in the end milo had went on his way with someone else. and if that wasn't a clear sign that he didn't fancy her, nyla didn't know what was. but at the moment, nyla still had milo. just....in a friend-ly way, which wasn't exactly what she wanted. not at all. she did have a distraction at the current time, however. nyla had somehow gotten involved in a dare regarding the personal life of the minister of magic, all because she and her best friends had been ridiculously drunk at the time. she now wished that she hadn't accepted the dare which might have been made up by her very best friend, aria flint. nyla adored aria -- afterall, they had been friends since hogwarts. nyla didn't have a single memory of her own that didn't involve aria in some way or another -- so now that she was attempting the impossible, it only seemed right for her best friend to be by her side the whole way. slipping into her favorite sundress and wedges, nyla raised her wand to her hair and placed soft curls at the ends. she had often contemplated turning it red to match her sister matilda's, but she knew good and well that she would never be able to work it like she did. instead, she was much like her father: dark eyebrows and dark hair, and a complexion that easily tanned in the summertime. most would say that nyla was particularly lucky when it came to genetics, though as far as she was concerned, she was happy just as long as her hair cooperated in the morning. it was even more frustrating for nyla when milo could wake up and be absolutely stunning, while she had to put on make-up and exercise just to feel decent about her appearance. of course, loads of things concerning milo frustrated her, and the majority of them had to do with her unreturned feelings for him. merlin, now that was something she wasn't happy about at all. no matter how much she allowed herself to flirt with mason (though it was hardly serious, since they were friends) nothing seemed to take away from the fact that she would more than likely always be hung up over the one person she could never have. despite how depressing that thought might have been, she also had something to keep her distracted. everyone knew about her fascination with vampires, including milo. lately, however, she had been getting word about a vampire near the campus -- and at risk of her own life, she was supposed to be meeting him at midnight in the courtyard. for now, she was on her way to see milo. it would be nice to spend time with her best friend before she was turned, naturally. she was just about to walk into his dorm room when she collided with someone. looking up, a small smile appeared upon her lips. " well hello yourself, clumsy." nyla allowed her small smile turn into a grin, which soon transformed into a smirk as her eyes wandered to his unbuttoned shirt. " nice to see you getting dressed for a change." a small chuckle escaped her lips before nodding as nyla attempted to hide the blush that had crept its way to her cheeks. " some air would be lovely, thank you. there's actually something i was meaning to talk to you about." nyla linked her arm with his, smiling up at him. she knew good and well that he wouldn't like what he was about to hear, but nyla certainly wasn't going to keep it from him. afterall, this would probably be the last time he saw her completely human. 1155, milo/holly, <3333 |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]there was several things to love about his best friend. if anyone knew this it was him, for he himself was in love with everything about her. the one thing he would never understand when it came to her though was her lack of confidence. Donovan himself found her unbelievably stunning. he told her so every chance he got, even if she only thought he meant it in a friendly sort of way. often she'd reply with a thank you but then add on something that she could change. he would change nothing about her, not a single thing. to him though, she could wear a paper bag and still be the most attractive girl he had ever laid eyes on. she was uniquely herself and that was what he loved most about her. there wasn't a single girl out there that looked like Nyla. no matter the shade of brown their hair was, it never matched hers. didn't matter how well they tanned, it didn't compare to hers. nothing compared to her, even if that was coming from a rather basis opinion. that was why he'd never understand why she had this fascination with becoming a vampire. he just didn't get it at all. if she did become a vampire she would be deadly to anyone around her. she'd be even more flawless and even he himself would be defenseless against her. Donovan would never understand her fascination with being a vampire. he had tried, several times over the years, but just couldn't come to terms with it. perhaps it was because he was a vampire and didn't see the big deal. other then eternal life, there was nothing really special about being a vampire. there were times when she would talk about becoming a vampire where Donovan had to use all his strength to not yell at her.
she had no idea what she was getting herself into. what a vampire could do to her. merlin just the thought sent chills down his spine. she was so willing to give her life away. yet Donovan was sure that she didn't have a clue what she'd be getting herself into. a vampire may promise to turn her, but they could also just be looking for a quick meal. it would be nothing for them to kill her and she would be defenseless against them. just like his mother had been. he was sure his fear for the girl he loved steamed from loosing his mother to the vicious animal that he was. he didn't want to loose Nyla. if it came down to it, if he could get to her in time, he would risk turning her himself just to save her life. never mind the fact that there was the risk she wouldn't remember anyone or anything from her past. that she wouldn't remember him. he didn't know how to tell his best friend this without exposing himself. it was all just a stressful situation. made even worse by the fact that Donovan knew he couldn't always be there to protect her. vampires roamed this world more then even he knew and as determined as she was, she'd find one. with or without his consent. not that she required his consent anyways. he just liked knowing when she was risking her life so that he could be within arms reach should things go terribly wrong. not that she'd see him until it was time but he'd be there. he'd be damned if she was giving her life and he didn't at least try to stop it.
smiling at his best friend as he pushed those thoughts aside. his eyes quickly taking her in, noting how the way her sundress hugged her so nicely. it made urges in his body rise up, ones that only she could bring out in him. "i could call you the clumsy one you know." he teased with a grin. "after all, aren't you suppose to knock before entering someone's room?" winking at her as a laugh fell from his lips. Nyla never had to knock before coming into his room. she had an all access pass as far as he was concerned. one of the three that did and one of those people was himself. "thought i put some clothes on." he laughed shrugging his shoulders. "not that the girls would complain to much if i didn't but blokes might start liking me too. don't need that." finishing off the buttons of his shirt as he stepped out of his room and shut the door. placing his hand on the small of her back he lead her gently out of his dorm area and into the outdoors. "oh? something to tell dear old me?" Donovan raised his eyebrow at her, a curiousness light in his eyes. "make some progress on your minister dare?" he didn't mean to have the jealousy in his tone but he didn't like this dare one bit. "or have you come to tell me you've finally given up on it?" had he sounded too hopeful? merlin he hoped not. it wasn't that Donovan didn't adore Nyla's friends, he did. he just didn't particularly liked the dare they placed her in. keeping her safe wasn't easy if he didn't know where she was.
things were only made completely worse by the fact that Donovan felt like he was constantly being watched. it was a rather horrible feeling. one that he had been putting up with since he was a small child. at first he thought nothing of it but as the feeling started getting stronger, he started to worry. it wasn't a pleasant or safe feeling either. which lead him to believe it was someone who meant him harm. it wasn't as though anybody knew he was a vampire, so he brushed the thought of someone wanting to kill him away. the paranoia though in the back of his mind had him on alert for his father. he knew as a vampire the man didn't age nor did he die unless someone tried really hard to kill him. Donovan knew from his mother's letter though that his father wasn't someone that people generally messed with. whenever he would look over his shoulder though no body would be there. it got worse as the years progressed and he became more aware of his vampire abilities. certain smells that he acknowledge with certain people and such like that. whoever was following him though he couldn't smell or hear their heart beat. this worried him even more. if he could feel their stare but they weren't close enough for him to smell or hear them, then where were they? it was puzzling and had him even more on edge with Nyla. if she ever came across his father, Donovan really didn't know what he'd do. he'd want to kill the man, merlin knew he already wanted to do that. if it had been his father that was watching him though, then he knew just how to get to him. through Nyla or Dahlia, neither of which he'd let harm come too. it was an awful situation that he'd put his friends in and he couldn't even tell them. this was all part of the reason Donovan hoped to merlin that it wasn't his father that was following him. his options then would be without limits. mentally shaking those thoughts from his head, as his eyes scanned the horizon. checking for anything that might be in the darkness, then looking back to his best friend. "so, are you going to keep me guessing?" he teased, once again smiling at her. |

flightless birdso come here, and never leave this place. perfection of your face slows me down, slows me down. so fall down, i need you to trust me. go easy, don't rush me. help me out, why don't you help me out? Nyla had never understood love. the term alone brought forth so many questions to the girl's mind, and not all of them revolved around Milo. everyone knew good and well how difficult it would have been for her father to dote upon all of his children, but the fact that he rarely tried sent across a message that Nyla hadn't soon forgotten. no matter how much she tried, no matter how amazing she felt about herself when she was around her gorgeous friend Aria or her best friend Milo, she couldn't understand the meaning of love, or the reasons why so many amazing people had remained in her life for so long. she was thankful that they were there, but she had never suspected for a moment that she actually deserved such wonderful friends. Milo was.....a little more than a friend, in her mind, but she couldn't exactly count that anymore. their seventh year was long gone, and having to spend 1460 days since then looking at him as merely a friend had eventually taken a toll on her. it was hard, seeing him in a different light, but Nyla had always valued their friendship. regardless of how much it had hurt, the internal struggle she was had went through was worth keeping her best friend. truthfully, she often appreciated having met Milo far more than she did her own siblings. not everyone had met their best friend like Nyla had, afterall. that alone had forged a bond between them that had never been broken, and she had to hope that it never would. Nyla couldn't picture her life without Milo. the two had always been inseparable, no matter how frequently Nyla wished that she was the girl on his arm. of course, it would have killed her to be the 'girl of the week', so she had no idea why she dreamed of being such. she had learned to deal with it, and Nyla knew good and well that she would have to put up with it for the rest of her life. she and Milo were meant to be friends; she found that one out the hard way.
but at the moment, Nyla's mind was somewhere else. something good was finally happening; something that Milo wouldn't approve of in the slightest. somehow, word had been spread about a vampire being around the university -- and if anyone was going to leap at that opportunity, it was Nyla. sure, things could take a turn for the worse when she appeared out of nowhere, but she had to imagine that vampires generally enjoyed turning average humans into their kind. that couldn't have been muggle film nonsense; she swore she had read it in a book somewhere. Milo refused to talk to her about anything pertaining to vampires, so she generally had to rely upon one of the bludd sisters or the library to find out what she needed to know (which generally fell short of her starving curiosity). despite dreaming of this for the majority of her life, Nyla had yet to think about the consequences of being turned. would she know her family, her friends? oh, merlin, would she even care? Nyla found it painful to think about her life without Aria or Milo in it. her family she could live without; most of them were off doing their own thing ninety-nine percent of the time anyway. when the Rowle family seemed to be all over the place, she'd always had her two best friends to rely on, no matter the situation. once she was changed, would she even care about any of that anymore? it sent a shiver down Nyla's spine just thinking about it, but even that thought wouldn't scare away the curiosity she had built up over nearly ten years. Aria and Milo would find a way to understand, she knew they would. if they truly loved her, they'd still be there once she was turned. she had to believe that.
Nyla felt her lips curl into a smile as Donovan replied. "under normal circumstances, yes -", she released a small laugh, grinning, "but considering you're my best friend, i'm pretty sure i have the right to impose." Milo was always welcome to barge into her room, all forbidden un-friend-like thoughts aside. Nyla couldn't help but roll her eyes at her best friend as he finished buttoning up his shirt. "y'know, perhaps i'll start wandering the campus half-naked. maybe we can start a trend, you and i. though, i'd actually like to see you try to beat off some six-foot-seven bloke with a crush on you. i think that'd be mildly entertaining." Nyla winked at him, ignoring the butterflies that swept through her as he placed his hand upon her back. she smiled and nodded as they stepped outside, a small ounce of anxiety taking it's toll on her nerves. Donovan was never pleased when she brought up vampires. she knew he only wanted to protect her, and frequently did, but she refused to hide something this big from him. Nyla's eyes moved from her feet as he mentioned the dare Aria and her friends had made a few months prior, and she quickly shook her head, a small smile at the corner of her lips. "hardly. he's a hard guy to get to, the minister." though her eyebrow immediately raised, Nyla released a small laugh, thinking of her best friend. "you know Aria would never let me forget it if I did." Nyla had enjoyed the few moments she'd been given to calm herself down, but she knew she couldn't delay it any longer, especially after Milo brought it up again. she exhaled, which she was sure was extremely audible. Nyla was sure that she appeared reasonably nervous, but in this case it was hard, if not nearly impossible, not to be. "you have to promise to hear me out, okay?" Nyla swallowed again, biting her lip for a moment. she had to word this well, otherwise their conversation would soon turn sour. "i've known about this for a few days now, but i didn't know how to tell you. there's a -- er, there's a vampire on campus. he's visiting the area, and, well, he's going to turn me." well, that wasn't so hard. Donovan wouldn't take it well, but none of her friends (who were actually her friends) would. Nyla loved Milo for caring so much, but nothing was going to change her mind. "tomorrow." she finished, her hands clenching into fists to keep them from shaking. she was still nervous of what she knew would come, but not even Milo could have stopped her now. she was determined, and completely sure of one thing: by tomorrow morning, she would be a vampire.

s h o u ld i g i v e u p o r s h o u l d i just keep chasing pavements even though it
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]the one night of bliss that Donovan and Nyla shared, constantly haunted his thoughts. it didn't matter that it happened almost more then five years ago, he never stopped thinking about it. from the way her lips had felt on his to the way the soft skin of her body seemed to quiver under his touch. nothing about that night had went unnoticed by Donovan. in fact, it had only made him realize just how much he loved his best friend. that was what had spooked him and had him searching for another girl within a few days. if something was to ever happen between himself and Nyla he didn't want to start it with secrets. especially since he knew he had a massive one that could affect everything. no matter what had conspired between the two of them that night, there was still some doubt in Donovan on how Nyla felt about him. it was something they never talked about, acting as though it never happened so all of his questions went unanswered. part of Donovan wanted so desperately just to bring it up, to put everything out there in the open but he didn't know how it would affect their friendship. after all it had happened years ago and it could be just a distant memory to Nyla. not that Donovan could really blame her, he had been a class a tool after the fact. which made him cringe every time he thought about it. the sensible thing would have been to tell Nyla right then and there that night just what he felt for her, but being sensible seemed to be the last thing on his mind. nowadays it was just coming around to bite him in the arse. he loved the girl and could do nothing about it.
he loved to see his best friend smile, it was contagious to say the least. plus it made everything else on her face seem to light up and that made alone made his stomach do flip flops. "then i suppose i have no choice but to forgive you and place the clumsiness all on myself." he laughed, a smile adorning his lips. "though you can admit it, you enjoyed walking into me shirtless." even though the comment was a teasing one Donovan was nearly desperate to hear her answer. part of him believed she would probably just laugh it off with some sarcastic reply but part of him wanted her to react. wanted her to blush or stumble over her words. just for some sort of sign that perhaps there was just something there between them. obviously they were best friends and they joked around. sometimes with the undercurrent of flirting but he usually wasn't this bold with his flirting. telling her she is gorgeous wasn't considered flirting to Donovan, it was just simply the truth in his mind. "i know i wouldn't complain if i walked in on you shirtless." Donovan smirked then casually shrugged his shoulders, watching his best friend from the corner of his eye. the jealousy that seemed to instantly fill his body at her words had him nearly choking in his reply. nevermind the mental image that it had painted in his mind that had his blood running nearly warm. "no." his strangled answer finally came out. "i do believe the dean would have something to say about one of his female students walking around here naked. especially one as gorgeous as yourself. all the male students would get distracted and i doubt he'd like that." failing miserably at trying to defend his answer.
"the half nakedness should definitely be kept for behind closed doors. your closed door or my closed door, as long as its closed it doesn't matter." he really didn't like the idea of other guys discovering all that Nyla really had to offer. granted some of the clothes she wore showed all of her assets off at times but at least she was still wearing clothes. jealousy and possessiveness coursed through him like something fierce, not liking this idea one bit. if anyone deserved to see Nyla any bit of naked it was him and only him. "you don't think i could do it?" raising his eyebrow at her as he referred to fighting off a six foot seven male. "how many guys have i protected you from over the years?" even though he knew she didn't know about his real strength, he knew she couldn't deny that he had kept her safe all these years. "though if it would entertain you, i am sure we could figure something out and allow you to watch." Donovan grinned at her, as a laugh escaped him. trying to ease away the other emotions inside of him. he knew he had no right to be jealous or possessive over her, she wasn't his technically, but it still didn't stop them from creeping up on him. Donovan's hopes nearly soared when he heard that she was having a difficult time with this dare of hers. it was kinda working in his favor that the Minister was always protected by someone or other. "she'd tear the mickey out of you i'm sure. then probably find some other bloke to replace the Minister." the thought had simply just entered his mind and the anger just barely escaped his voice as he spoke.
Donovan could tell by the way Nyla was acting that whatever she had going on, he wasn't going to like. he didn't respond when she told him to hear her out, the thudding of his heart barely allowed him to hear her at that point. he could only imagine what dangerous situation she had gotten herself into now. the moment the word vampire escaped her lips he stopped mid step. allowing his foot to fall to the ground beside him, Donovan found his fists clenching at his sides. that nervous feeling washed over him, one that told him something just wasn't right. unclenching his fits at his sides Donovan swallowed a deep breath and looked up at her. "are you insane Nyla?" he tried to keep his voice steady but it obviously shook. "do you have any idea what your getting yourself into?" Donovan's voice rose just a little bit, his eyes growing darker almost black. "you can't just go up to some random vampire and ask him to turn you. damnit. of course he's going to say yes. he's probably just looking for a quick meal and doesn't care if you live or die." this was honestly the first time he ever shared any information about vampires with his best friend. he normally tried to change the subject whenever it arose because he knew too much and it was all first hand experience. stepping so he was extremely close to her, her scent washing over him causing him to swallow hard. "do you honestly think you'd be able to defend yourself against him if he was to just start draining all the blood from you?" with each word he spoke and continued to walk until Nyla's back was against the wall.
"sure your a strong and independent girl right? you'd be able to do it, right? wrong." his voice was almost deadly now. "he'd be able to snap you like a twig before you had the chance." to emphasize his statement Donovan punched the wall directly behind Nyla. the force of the hit placed a hole in it and the wall had shook, though he wasn't in pain at all. "then i bet you think you'd be able to out run him if you did manage to get away. wrong again. to put it simply vampires don't need to fly because they can ran faster then one of the best quidditch players." he couldn't exactly express this. "vampires don't offer up their blood to just anyone Nyla. no matter how hot the random girl that approaches them is. do you think your the first girl to want to be turned? its easy for them to use that to get their meal." pushing himself away from his best friend he turned his back on her and released a shaky breath, running his hand through his hair. in a lightening fast move, he was behind Nyla holding her in the position that he believed most vampires held their victims. holding her so she couldn't escape, without even using much force on his part. "he'll beat you if you try to fight. make you pay for teasing him and not giving him what he wants." he whispered the warmth of his breath caressing against her neck, his voice void of emotion. just like his father had done to his mother. the thought in his head made Donovan's heart stop. "what was his name Nyla?" he had just inadvertently told his best friend he was a vampire, if she picked up on it of course. that wasn't his worry though. his worry was that this vampire she spoke of was his father. |
