she could hear the younger girl moving around the apartment, and she was lying here in bed with someone she didn't know the name of with her stomach gurgling and head pounding. what she should be doing would be rolling on top of him and going for round... three? four? she wasn't entirely sure. she didn't even know what, exactly, she'd been doing last night. sure, she knew what the end goal had been. aiden had been around less and less lately, and a girl had needs. or at least, kya did, whether other girls did or not. so she'd stayed out after her shift and picked him up, which had led to... a lot of tequila. groaning a little, she banged her head on the pillow a few times. why had she done that? she knew it led to hangovers. of course, the normal hangover cure was more sex and then the fattiest food she could come up with. the first, though, was utterly distracted from by her thoughts of harper pottering around outside. she wanted to go out and spend time with her, not stay here and have sex again. that was... well, unusual, but she was going to go ahead and blame that on the fact she was still a little sore. or... something. it was too early in the morning to think about things too complicated, which a lack of desire for sex in her case definitely was. she just... didn't want to think about it at all, really. glancing over at the admittedly attractive guy (yeah, she still had it, of course), who was still asleep, she sighed a little. yeah, there was too vivid a picture of harper in her head now. she wasn't going to be able to do anything without thinking of harper, which was far too many levels of fucked up to even think about. commenting on how hot harper looked was one thing, thinking of her during sex was another.
standing up, she quickly got dressed – well, whatever counted for dressed for kya. she didn't often bother putting pants on around harper, because they were unnecessary and it wasn't like she was offended by her best friends' half-nakedness. well, at least kya hoped that was really the case and harper wasn't just hiding it all inside for some reason. rubbing at her panda eyes, she padded out of her bedroom towards the kitchen. wiggling her fingers at harper a little, she rubbed at her eyes, blinking into the light. this was always unpleasant, though it was made a little easier by the presence of her best friend. “did i mention a name for...” she trailed off, gesturing vaguely towards her bedroom. she didn't really care, in truth, but if she could be polite, then she probably should be. groaning a little, she turned on the coffee machine and groped for the bacon. she was going to make a bacon and bacon and bacon sandwich, and nothing could stop her. despite her hangover, her moves were well practised and relatively smooth, though a few louder bangs made her wince. “want anything?” she asked over her shoulder as she dropped the bacon into the pan, being rewarded by the sizzle. turning back to her best friend, she flopped across the bench and squinted up at the younger girl, trying in vain to hide from the weak british sunlight. “what are you doing today? did you want to do something?” she asked, trying not to listen to the movement she could hear from her own bedroom now. if he was going to be a bitch, he could also have some bacon. hopefully, he'd just leave and she'd be left with harper... a much better idea, from her perspective. it was still too early to think about that, though, so she just tried to give harper a smile...whether it succeeded or not, she wouldn't know. 1008 words, outfit, for harper, as;;oicvbopfoslfsf okay |

its unforgettable now that we've come this far, and it's unmistakable that you're undeniable. you're the only one who stuck it out last night, the only other one who caught the other line, you're the only one when this world collides , ( the one that i can't deny ------------------------------------- ! ) eric. this one's name was eric. though she usually brought home gregory's, damien's and the occasional katelyn, that's not who this one was. his name was eric, and he was easily the most beautiful thing harper had ever laid eyes on, when not compared to the girl attached to his face. well, that was one way to find out who kya brought home this time. she was content as a cucumber with her cheerios and stupid soap opera. but heaven forbid, she got the beginning of the show of her life. this wasn't unusual. kya worked at nitro, and there were always drunk guys around hitting on her. and why wouldn't they? kya was beautiful in her red haired wonder. harper envied that hair, and she envied the male attention the girl seemed to get. it wasn't as if harper was completely starved for attention or anything. she got herself around (especially between her two best guy friends), but not like kya. as per usual, harper waited for kya to come home, ready with her bowl of cheerios and music theory book in front of her, and once again, she had to watch her best friend disappear into her room with random stranger number whatever. he was gorgeous, she had to admit. but nevertheless, harper got that awful feeling in the pit of her stomach and relocated to the back of the apartment before falling asleep, curled in a ball, the way she usually did when she wasn't sleeping in the same bed as kya. as sad as it was, she loved the feeling of sleeping in bed with her best friend, just for the sake of being close to her. she had her own bed (which was usually where she had to go when aiden came over, or random strangers numbered two through six), but on a normal basis used for studying. most of the time, there were books laid across it and not nearly enough room to sleep in. that would be why she tended to relocate to one of the random closets in the apartment. it was the most bizarre thing to do, but it was what she was used to. there were times when she locked herself in that closet for hours on end, simply because it was the most sound proof of all the rooms in the place. it was to a point where she had a couple of extra pillows and a blanket stuffed in there for times like this. the sound proof closet was good for a few things- studying, hiding, and getting away from thing she just did not want to hear. for one, kya got a little loud, especially when she was drunk (despite all attempts at silencing charms, they didn't always work, and they weren't always remembered- in that way, they were kind of like condoms), and for two, harper just did not want to hear it. seeing kya with someone else always made her upset. why? she wasn't sure.
all her life- or at least a rather large portion of it- harper always had kya to fall back on. always. from the time she was a little first year in school and needed kya to help her find classes and avoid the eyes of the ever bitchy librarian, to the time she was a scared little virgin who didn't know what she was supposed to do when she got a little too carried away with a boy, she knew she could always rely on kya to talk her through everything. kya seemed to know everything (or at least everything harper needed to know) and harper was so in awe of her when she was younger. by the time kya graduated, the awe had sort of dulled down to an immense appreciation, seeing as they were best friends by that time, and knew just about everything there was to know. kya was literally everything to harper. she was a best friend, a shoulder to cry on, her room mate, someone who would listen to her, someone that understood her, her partner in crime- everything harper needed, kya was. she never had to look further than the room across the hall for anything. this place had become more of a home to her in the past three years than the place with her mother and her husband ever had been. kya wasn't judgy. kya wasn't a bitch. kya didn't keep a guy around at all, much less one that harper visibly hated. kya understood her obsession with muggle things, and muggle music. kya just... understood her everything. she could always trust kya- there was never a doubt. and it was a known fact- kya was absolutely beautiful. anyone that looked at her could see that. everything from her hair to her toenails were perfect- at least, to harper, they were. it was obvious by the company she brought around that others thought the same thing. and again, the twinge was back in her stomach. it was the same twinge that happened when she thought about mason with adele, or toby with... anyone else. she could easily admit that when she thought about mason and adele, or toby and soraya, it was pure jealousy, and pure greed. there was no disputing it. but who was she jealous of? kya, for having a more active social life then she did? or eric, for having kya all to himself for the night? she shook herself mentally. kya was her best friend. they were like sisters. that was the end of that.
despite her late night date with sophomore music theory, harper managed to get herself out of bed decently early in the morning. it wasn't single digits in the hour or anything, but it was still early, considering. she was walking around in a pair of boxers and a cami- her usual morning attire- and a messy bun tied at the back of her neck. who did she have to impress? kya frequently saw her hungover with raccoon eyes up the freaking wazoo with her hair in tangles. she felt worse when she was actually semi attractive around kya. she was simply wandering around the kitchen when she heard someone else getting up. if it was eric, harper would casually nod to him and go about her merry way. that was how she usually handled things when it came to kya's guys. much to her luck, it wasn't. she offered a smile to her best friend, letting out a slight giggle at the finger wiggle. "eric." she said, not looking up from whatever it was she took to doing. "proud of you babe. he's a sober ten. drunk, he was probably, what, a greek god?" she asked, laughing. she was shocked that comment didn't come out with a hint of acid. it was genuinely kind of playful, the way all her comments usually were. she looked over and watched kya wobble around the kitchen, amused as usual, and still amazed by the figure her best friend seemed to maintain. it was a miracle, with all the fattening foods they ate and the amount of drinking they did that either girls were in the shape they were in. harper was a former quidditch nerd, so it was okay. "i'll take some of that, if you don't mind." she said, nodding to the currently sizzling bacon. the smell was immediately enticing, and caused harper to smile. she shrugged. "the only thing in my near future is a quick sample article i have to write for J103, but otherwise, i have a free day. you in the mood to do anything?" she asked, reaching for her box of kid's cereal in one of the high cabinets.

none of that was really feeling really relevant, though. because now she was awake and there was more important things than how hot the guy she'd fallen into bed with last night looked like. like harper, for example. she didn't exactly know why, but she felt like today, harper was going to be the centre of her attention. not that she was ever going to complain about harper having her attention, but it was just something that had occurred to her today and she didn't really have a reason for it. she didn't need one, but there was normally one that occurred to her when she had these sudden brainwaves. that made her think that it was maybe it was the remnants of the alcohol left in her system that had led her to that particular decision, but even if it was, it didn't matter – much like the guy in her bed right now. "right. eric," she muttered, and ran her fingers through her messy hair. at least harper didn't look too much like a million bucks right now, or she would have felt more than a little trashy... which was an unusual feeling for kya, she had to admit. shrugging a shoulder, she made a non-committal noise at her assessment of the attractiveness of him. "yeah, he was pretty good, i guess." snorting, she reverted back to herself a little more and smirked, albeit with a bit of a squint at the brightness of the room. "and, you know, hot too." actually, he hadn't been that great, but there'd not been anything wrong with him either. it was just... probably that she was more picky than normal, or... fuck, she didn't know. she poked at the bacon idly, trying not to muse on her thoughts too much. food. yes. food was an easy thing to think about. that was what she could be concentrating on instead of harper and eric and god knew what else would be running through her head if she let herself keep thinking.
blinking slowly, she nodded and added another rasher of bacon to the pan. she was going to have to go for the longest run that she'd managed in a while after last night and this morning, but that wasn't the important thing. she'd do that, and then she'd be hauling boxes and shit around nitro because sebastian had been even drunker than her last night... it was a wonder that they hadn't started getting into the drinking games that they had been so fond of in their younger years. which made her seem so much older than she really wanted to remember that she actually was, to be quite honest, but hopefully she could get that out of her head relatively quickly. "are you going to have bacon on your cereal?" she asked, unable to stop the wave of nausea that went over her at the thought of that. the coffee machine beeped in that reassuring way and she shoved her mug under the spout, making an impatient noise when it didn't fill quickly enough. leaning back on the bench, she wrinkled her nose and flapped a hand at her best friend. "run about twenty miles to burn off all that rum from last night?" she muttered, but it wasn't really with any malice. "i don't really have anything in mind, but... i dunno, we could head into the mall or something?" how was it that she was going to say 'i just want to spend time with you' without seeming like a massive creeper? oh, right, she was just going to sound like a massive creeper. "you've been off with all your young friends again and we haven't had much of a chance to spend time together lately." picking up her coffee mug, she stirred in a few dozen tablespoons of sugar and took a long drink, making a pleased noise. "or we could forgo the entire having to get dressed drama and just fuck around here for the day." 1008 words, outfit, for harper, as;;oicvbopfoslfsf okay |
