if there was one thing about University that Adalynn enjoyed, aside from her studies, was the fact that it gave her the chance to meet new people. at Hogwarts, you spent seven years around the same people. with the exception of first years joining each year. the odd transfer would surface but it was still nothing compared to the amount of wizarding students at the University. during her first year she had felt like an eleven year old all over again. only it wasn't as hard for her to fit in as it had been previously. people seemed much more welcoming and accepting of her now that she had grown out of her awkward stage. around people from Hogwarts she was a bit cautious. if they didn't want to be her friend then she really wasn't sure she wanted them to be her friend now. people that she hadn't met before though she gave the benefit of the doubt because they didn't know the old her. they would get the chance to meet her, regardless of how she looked now. this didn't mean that she didn't appreciate the people she did meet at Hogwarts. Adalynn honestly didn't know where she would be without the help of her seven other girlfriends, especially Marley. Marley Harper was her best friend since the both of them stepped foot on the train to Hogwarts. they had stuff in common and went through much of the same things well at Hogwarts. her family was always rather blessed in the looks department, given that they were all part veela but Marley seemed to be the odd child out. though she was gorgeous in her own way, at least to Adalynn, she never quite compared to her sisters. which was something that Adalynn could relate too. it was what made their friendship that much more important. where other girls did everything they could to be popular the two of them were content with the group of friends that they had.
it was weird that the eight best friends all seemed to grow into themselves after Hogwarts. it was just something else that they could all deal with together. marveling over how much their lives seemed to change all because their looks did. it was something that never ceased to amaze Adalynn. she had known that the world was into looks, that they were overly important to most people but she hadn't realized how important. even her mother seemed to approve of her more and more as of late. it was terrifying if she was honest with herself. up until she was sixteen she tried to gain her mothers approval but now that she had it she didn't really know what to do with it. it was one reason that Adalynn had needed to get out of her parents house. the women practically swallowed her with attention so much so that Ada felt over whelmed. University offered her escape and gave her that push she needed to start leading her own life. by the time the summer of her first year rolled around she had acquired her own apartment so she didn't have to return to her childhood home. not unless she wanted too and then it was under her own rules and circumstances. she returned for the occasional dinner or gala, when her presences was required. otherwise it was just another place to her. another place full of memories she wanted to put behind her. which was exactly what she was doing. she was forging forward with her life, doing what she wanted and it was for herself. not for anybody else. she was sure her parents would eventually try to put a stop on it. after all things were going far to smoothly as of late.
the only thing that wasn't running smoothly in her life was naturally her love life. the lack their of was more like it. she had male friends don't get her wrong but that was pretty much the extent of it. there had only been one occurrence over her nineteen years of life where she gained any experience with guys. however that was one occurrence she tried desperately not to think about. yet at the same time it was the one occurrence she often couldn't get off her mind. Adalynn had never really been the type of girl to worry herself with boys. they didn't really worry about her so why should she worry with them? that was her logic anyways. however one boy in particular got under her skin any chance he could. which was very often considering he was her best friends twin. only Adalynn would wind up with a crush on her best friends twin brother. it was just her ill luck really. especially since he was part veela, had the ego the size of England and could (and did) have any girl he wanted. Adalynn was sure she wasn't the only one with a crush on him but she was sure she was the only friend of Marley's that did. which only made it ten times worse. it was the one thing that she hadn't told her best friend. out of eight years of friendship it was the only secret she had, anyone else would consider that pretty good. Adalynn however didn't, given that it was a massive one and she hated secrets. she could keep them for her friends but hated keeping them from her friends.
it wasn't exactly a conversation she was looking forward to having with Marley though, which was exactly why she kept putting it off. perhaps it might have been easier when they were younger. the two girls probably would have laughed about it. she wasn't sure what the blonds reaction would be now though. regardless of the fact that Adalynn was sure nothing else would happen. bending down to pick Bouser up off the floor she sighed heavily. not thinking about him would have been a hell of a lot easier if she hadn't just ran into him. the whole bloody campus and Adalynn's luck she had crossed paths with him while bringing her Yorkie pup to visit her friend. well, actually she was bringing Bouser back to their dorm for a bit but that was besides the point. shaking her head, hoping it would shake all thoughts out of her head, Adalynn entered their dorm room. "Marley?" she called out into the room, looking around for the blond. "i'm back and i brought cookies!" setting Bouser down on her bed then sitting down next to him. taking the cookie tin out of her bag she set them on the other side of Bouser. "Bouser wanted to come for the walk as well." petting the young pup she really did hope she wasn't talking to an empty room.

she pulled the green sheets overtop of her. she wasn't going to go to bed but she wanted to relax. marley had been wearing shorts, a lace cami and a cardigan but since coming into the dorm she had removed the cardigan and changed into sweats. no one was going to see her other than her dorm mates. one of them being her best friend for more than seven years, adalynn goyle. the two had grown up at hogwarts together. since the day that they had met on the train. there was no way of predicting which houses the two girls would have ended up in but there was an instant connection between the two. luckily, the girls had ended up in the same house and dorm. it was like every night the two got to have a slumber party. it annoyed the bloody hell out of their other dorm mates but the two were best friends. it was only natural that they would bother everyone. marley didn't know what she would have done without adalynn though. they were attached the hip so often that marley would have been a completely different person if it wasn't for her. marley had grown close to her group of eight but out of the seven, adalynn was her bff. her best friend and the one girl that she could share everything. there were other slytherins like tashia but she was older. a couple years older actually. adalynn though was in the same year which meant they had shared classes and dorms together. they went to hogsmeade every time together, more than half of marley's memories were with adalynn and she had definitely become like another sister to her.
marley heard someone open the door to their dorm but didn't bother to get up to see who it was. it had to be one of three girls that she shared her dorm with. it wasn't like she was expecting a boy to come over (ha when was that ever going to happen). she continued to lie on her bed with the covers over her head. marley ran her hand through the mop of blonde hair before lifting her head from the covers. hearing adalynn's voice she didn't remove the sheet from her head yet. "hm?" marley mumbled. "marley's not here." she grinned from underneath the covers. she was just used to adalynn as a room mate that it was normal for her to treat her as if she was her mom or another family member. "cookies?" marley pulled the covers from over her head. she perched herself up on her arm placing her head on the palm of her head. she didn't know where adalynn had gone but if she brought cookies...well that changed a lot. marley looked to see the puppy that adalynn had also brought. "oh of course. weren't all the boys jealous of him for getting to go on a walk with you?" she made a kissy face at the dog before looking up at adalynn. their blue eyes meeting with one another. it was true that since the girls had come to university that they had started to turn heads. it hadn't always been like this. they had always been overlooked and overshadowed by everyone. it was only till now that the girls were getting attention from boys. both still didn't know how to take it. she remembered the first day with adalynn when a group of boys had approached them and marley didn't know what to say. she had stood them wide-eyed and stunned that a boy would even speak to her. |

though Adalynn knew that most people didn't know her when she was growing up, those that did pitied her. however, she never once felt bad for herself. sure there were dozens of girls that were prettier then her, gorgeous even. yet she didn't let that bother her. in the back of her mind she knew that no matter what she did, there would always be someone prettier then her. someone who was better at her then something and she was honestly okay with that. it was quite the contrary with Adalynn. she felt blessed to have as many people in her life that she had, that each genuinely cared for her. they watched her back as much as she watched theirs and for that she'd be forever greatful. Marley Harper was definitely one of those people. ever since they had met on the train ride to Hogwarts, Adalynn had been thankful that the girl was in her life. she didn't want to dwell on all the bad things that happened in her life. she liked to look on the positive side of things. at least she tried too as often as she could. she wasn't always a happy go lucky person but nine times out of ten she did her best to look on the brighter side of things. she had no desire to take anything in her life for granted. not her best friend, not any of her close friends, nothing. this especially included her new found beauty. the main thing though that she didn't want to take for granted was her best friends trust in her. without that trust, she didn't know what she would do. it was a major part of the reason that she felt that the feelings she had for Quinton were wrong.
ever since the two girls had become friends, Marley would tell her tales about her and Quinton. things they would do, things he would do or she would just trust Adalynn with random information. when the crush she had started to develop on Quinton she felt guilty for listening to these tales. she didn't want to have these feelings for her best friends brother, let alone her best friends twin. she most certainly didn't ask for them. in fact she didn't even know how they came to form. Quinton Harper was the most egotistical womanizer that Adalynn had ever met. yet some how she had come to see another side of him. whether it be the way he acted when he was around Marley or small things he did when he didn't think anyone was looking. part of her wished she never saw these good features about Quinton because then maybe just maybe her feelings wouldn't have formed for him. at first she had convinced herself that it was just a school age crush. that it would past with time. some simple infatuation with something she couldn't have. when he had kissed her for the first time, she didn't want to like it. merlin, she didn't even want to kiss him back. her senses had went against her will though and kissed him back. she was sure that would have turned her off him, instead it had only hightened her feelings for him. he frustrated her beyond belief. in the back of her mind though, she knew she was safe. he may have kissed her like he wanted her, but she was one girl he was never going to get. Adalynn refused to be one of the many to any guy.
just because she had this new found beauty didn't mean she was going to become one of those girls she often disliked. those girls that were like her cousin Aria. who slept with anything with legs simply because they could. Adalynn didn't hate many people, especially family generally but Aria was an exception. she didn't want to believe it was because the girl had Quinton whenever she wanted. she had convinced herself it was because the girl didn't have to work for anything. guys fell all over her, looks were blessed upon her and she knew it. which bothered Adalynn even more. it was funny though because she got along with Ainsley and Lucian just fine, yet she couldn't stand Aria. she was the exact example of girl that she refused to become. Adalynn would always have her morals and that was one thing she made sure of. she wouldn't stoop as low as to sleep with the next hot guy who hit on her. merlin knew she wouldn't even know if a guy was hitting on her for that matter. when she did sleep with someone, it was going to be someone she was in a relationship with. it was just that simple for her. there was nothing Adalynn wanted more then to be loved, for who she was and not how she looked. a feeling she never felt before but was still hopelessly looking for. which was just another reason for her not to think about Quinton. even if she hated keeping a massive secret from her best friend.
laughing as her friends voice came from beneath the sheets Adalynn smiled. "should i leave a message then? wheres the beep?" she asked sitting down upon her own bed. crossing her legs indian style and looking over at the heap she knew was her best friend, beneath the covers anyways. "freshly baked, still warm cookies." she informed her best friend as the mass of blond hair emerged from beneath the covers. laughing and shaking her head at her best friend, she was guessing that Marley was having a hell of a day. "your favorite flavor too." opening the lid to the cookie tin she held it out to Marley. Bouser eagerly trying to get at the tin, his nose sniffing the air about a mile a minute trying to figure out what was inside and if he could have it. looking to Marley she rolled her eyes playfully. "oh yes. they were just lining up to walk him for me." guys had started paying her a lot more attention lately but it wasn't something she was favoring. in fact she tried to avoid most of them if she could. "they are such a pain. you know, i almost wished that i understood them." Adalynn sighed though it was the truth. "i wish just one of them would notice us for who we are not how we look. they annoy me." she stated rather simply. "one minute they want nothing to do with you then the next they want you like a chubby kid wants cake. its ridiculous. like they all think we should fall at their feet or something. ugh!" perhaps a bit of her rant was about Quinton but it was true. "they are no good, unless they are related too you." taking one of her cookies she took a bite and nodded. convincing herself her statement was true would be another thing though.
