bentley had changed from hogwarts. at hogwarts, he would have never majored in art. he would have never hung out by himself. he would have a girl with him now. he wouldn't be sitting peacefully. he would be hung over from yesterday's party. he wouldn't be outside. he would be inside with caffeine and some kind of headache pill. bentley had grown up. for some it was hard to believe that this had happened but it had. he had done some thinking through the year between his graduation of seventh year and his freshmen year at university. in freshmen year, it was hard to fight those urges of going back to his old ways but he pushed through. bentley could now control his drinking and the girls that he did go on dates with, they were pondered on and if he knew they couldn't work, he would immediately stop. while the girl wanted him to try, bentley knew that he could never appreciate them as much as another boy would be able to. he let go of that girl hoping that just around the corner that the boy that was right for her would emerge. bentley was okay with being by himself now. he realized that in life, he wouldn't always have someone. there was always mason but even mason was distancing himself from bentley. he realized this in their sixth year when daphne krum had chosen him over his brother. while bentley had liked the girl, he could tell mason really liked this girl. she was a tough girl and a slytherin like he was. he could tell that she probably had chosen him over mason because he was also slytherin. thinking back, bentley often wondered if he hadn't played those girls and instead had been serious with one of them, would he be with one of them now? it wasn't too late now but none of the girls believed that bentley had changed.
while lost in his thoughts, he saw daphne past by. he had talked to her before since they were in the same year and house but nothing serious. it had only been when they were forced to see each other. he saw how delicate her features were. the way her blonde locks flew in the wind. bentley gulped knowing that this probably was one of the craziest things he would do but she was the only thing inspiring in this whole courtyard. "daphne! it's bentley!" bentley called out. "be my model!" he shrugged giving a pair of his puppy dog eyes. it was a big risk to take but he didn't know what daphne was like anymore. maybe he had changed like he had. a hard thing to see but bentley had changed...why couldn't she? or maybe she was still the same girl that he knew from hogwarts. the same girl who was a spoiled brat with a tough exterior. she used boys like they were kleenex. even if that was the truth, bentley couldn't know until he talked to her. now if she would talk to him. tag: daphne word count: 737 lyric credit: justin reid notes: short and easy! |

- - - - it had been a long time since daphne and bentley had spoken. well, really spoken. daphne had been avoiding him ever since they broke up in the sixth year and despite the casual hellos they would sometimes exchange, they never had a conversation longer than a few words and even then, it was awfully awkward. not because she was so utterly heartbroken over the degeneration of their little fling, but because she had really liked bentley's twin brother, mason, more than bentley and had to choose the latter over mason simply because her friends told her to. she was hung up over what could have been with his brother and avoided the twins like the plague, unable to fight the burning in her chest whenever she spotted one of them. it was odd for daphne to act like this, but the aesalon boys really got to her. much more than anybody else. usually she wouldn't care if she saw a guy she had once fooled around with and strut right by him (maybe even a hair-flip!), but it was different with them. perhaps she felt something for mason, but daphne would just brush it off as if it were nothing. that was just how she dealt with her problems. she would ignore them until they passed but for the past five years, daphne still felt that flutter whenever she saw mason.
casually sitting on a rustic bench in the courtyard, daphne was peacefully enjoying her mid-day break. her friends were oddly missing, but daphne didn't really care. all she wanted was a moment of silence. she often times felt like she was being suffocated by her friends who would never just stop talking. she found them all horribly vain and annoying, but they were like her little lackeys. they would do her homework, compliment her on a daily basis, and go out with her; and who doesn't need a group of friends that would tear off their limbs to please you? if daphne ever needed something, they would all jump to get it for her. it was almost darling how much they wanted her to like them. and why? simply because daphne was an attractive girl who seemed to exude a confidence that drew everybody towards her--girls and boys alike. it wasn't a dashing personality or even wealth. it was simply because people liked the way she looked and daphne wasn't about to fight it.
suddenly, she heard a familiar voice calling her name. a voice that she would otherwise run the other direction from, but she was trapped. getting up and leaving would be too obvious and bentley would most certainly suspect something was up--that daphne was somehow avoiding him. she turned her head and twisted her face into a confused expression with her left eyebrow raised. "i know who you are, bentley," she replied with a cool, aggressive tone that pierced anybody's self-esteem like daggers. "you don't need to announce it." with a sigh and an eyeroll, she crossed her arms and continued, "a model? as much as i agree with you that i'm incredibly beautiful and would be the perfect addition to hogwarts' hall of portraits when i pass, i'm going to have to politely decline." the last thing she wanted to do was spend time with bentley.
word-count, short, i know! notes, sorry it took so long <3

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]i don't wanna play these games anymore "you actually remember me?" the edge of bentley's lips curled into a coy smile. his voice calm but bentley inside being a little surprised. while the two had dated, he had known that daphne had many men in her life. he thought that he would be one that would be forgotten from her past. while it was strange for a girl to have gotten between bentley and mason, daphne had been able to. that didn't mean that they were still on her mind though. the twins had been trouble at hogwarts. they were one in the same. it was only now that it was easy to define which twin was who. he tilted his head laying it on his shoulder. "i announced your name too. it's only fair that i can announce mine." bentley could tell that he was testing daphne but he had been different the last time they had been alone. he had probably said something about the next time they were to see each other after the break-up that bentley might try something on her. the only times that the two ever talked was in groups. it was strange for bentley to have found daphne on a day where she was actually alone. bentley was going to take advantage of that.
his blue eyes softened. "what is your reason to decline?" he pulled at the grass beneath him. "the next party if i'm correct doesn't start for hours by then i'll be done." while he wasn't really into the party scene anymore, he was still caught up on what was happening at hogwarts. parties would start later at night when school work was done unless there was a loser of a kid that attempted to start something. the professors would still be awake which really wasn't what students wanted. the parties at hogwarts were juvenile compared to the ones at university. his eyes were directed towards the ground but they flicked up to daphne. "what are you saying? we can't be friends?" bentley had sworn at hogwarts that he wouldn't stay friends with an ex but this was university. all things said and done at hogwarts were done with. it was like he had been a different person at hogwarts and this was actually who bentley was. it was a shame that not many girls had gotten to know him and now it was too late for any girls to give bentley a chance. he had been a jackass at hogwarts. girls feelings meant nothing to him. he could be with a different girl every week and any time that a girl entered a relationship with bentley, it would mean that relationship had to be open to other girls. the last two years, bentley had been able to have solid relationships where he was dedicated to that girl. it now either ended up in heartbreak (which bentley knew he deserved) or the two found they were incompatible with one another.
"i'm a changed guy..." bentley lightly sighed. "as hard as that is to believe." he didn't know if his words were going to make any sense to daphne but while she was still around, bentley would speak. "we had our thing. there's way more guys now at university. you can't just spend time with a nice guy?" some things hadn't changed from hogwarts. bentley had been one of the only few that had been able to grow up. everyone else stayed the same. bentley just wanted to show daphne that he wasn't the same anymore and that a boy could actually treat her right. there was no thought in bentley's head that anything romantic could happen but he was sick and tired of boys playing girls. he was being a little bit of a hypocrite since he had been that person but bentley had grown up from that. he was different now and that was all that mattered. he lifted up his sketchpad and a pencil like he was ready and not accepting a no. bentley never knew how convincing he could actually be. here he was to prove it though. tag: daphne word count: 682 lyric credit: justin reid notes: gfdsgkjflg mine sucks... |
