[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #000000, width: 300px; height: 300px;] suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall "it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live". someone had once said that. not to ian, but he had read it somewhere. but in his humble opinion, this quote needed to be tweaked just a bit. "it does not do to dwell on the past and forget to live." because ian was a good friend, something from his past was nagging him a lot these days. yes, it was a girl. but not an ex-girlfriend or a flirt. but it was indeed aries donovan. one of his oldest friends from back when he attended hogwarts. she was two years younger than ian. but it seemed like he had done quite an impact on her. it had been a long time since they had spent time together. and it was sad, because ian really liked this girl. they weren't best friends, but good enough friends to make it work. and now they had drifted apart. which was sad, because aries was a nice girl. and as far ian could tell, he had helped her open up a bit. and a friendship like that was in his opinion worth fighting for. ian was a sophomore now and that meant that aries had just started here at the university. he wanted to surprise her. ian had just finished his last class of the day and hurried up towards the ravenclaw common room, but on his way, he bumped into someone. he sighed and quickly his hand ran to his head to rub it. when ian looked up he saw a familiar face. aries donovan.
ian smiled brightly at her, wondering if she recognized him. he most certainly recognized her. "aries donovan.. awesome seeing you here at the university! you like it? what's your major?" he asked and realized he was maybe a bit too eager, but he was just so glad to see her here. aries looked the same and ian wondered how she was, if she had gotten any new friends and how she liked it here. to say that he loved it here was an understatement. this was even more awesome than hogwarts itself had been for him. ian had always been the rambling type, but this was just too much for him. seeing a friend that he hadn't seen in two years was pretty damn and in comparison to all other people who would just be shy and maybe just say "hi", ian was the polar opposite. he needed to know what was going on in his friends life.
should he try and hug her? nah, that would be kind of jumping the gun. he left that for later if it was okay with her. ian himself would hate a surprise hug. especially if you hadn't seen the person in two years. so he decided not to. better go with the safe, at least around aries.

- - - - - - - - - - aries often thought to herself, were angels real? like guardians, she meant. not the ones like angel gabriel, believed by christian muggles. the ones who are just normal people, who come to help others who in need, true gifted and kind people, generous people, with a real sense of selflessness. these people didn't really exsist anymore, come to think about it. most people nowadays were in things only for themselves, and "the good samaritan" (another christian muggle folk story) would never exsist today, instead they would ask "what's in it for me?"
aries wanted to help people, but she was so unconfident when it came to meeting new people, it wasn't like bounding up to them on horseback and bravely enquiring them as to how they can help and a full detailed account of what happened. it was more like shying up to them slowly and quietly stuttering "a-are you okay?"her confidence had increased massively, but she still found it hard to confront people. she wasn't a mean person, or a stuck up snob, she just didn't like to make the first move. suddenly, it came to her head that there was a good samaritan in her life, he went by the name of ian bole. he was a couple of years older than her, and they had first met at hogwarts, when ian had confronted her and opened her up a bit more. he was an amazing chap. he brought up her confidence levels a bit more, and gave her advice on making new friends. he also helped her out with any homework she had trouble with, and funnily enough, was like a brother to her. aries came from an all muggle family, and adjusting to the wizarding lifestyle was hard, but with ian's help, she soon grew used to the world she now loved to pieces.
then he graduated...and aries was pretty much left alone. she had some friends, but they were more aquaintances or peer members, people in the same situation as her. she never really did have a true bond with anyone else after that, not enough to trust them, anyway. she hadn't seen hinm in about two years, but now she had moved into the university and regularly taking classes, she knew it was only a matter of time before she would bump into him, it was just a case of waiting, unfortunately.
she hurried along a corridor, eager to get to the cafeteria, absolutely starving hungry. she was jumbling papers around in her hands, mainly sheet music and lyrics, with her guitar slung over her back, with a few charms essays she needed to finish. a quill was tucked behind her ear and it was lightly tickling her face, making her giggle whenever she made a sudden head movement. she swept along, keeping a steady pace, turned a corner and - "OUCH!" something smacked her straight on the head and knocked it back a little, leaving aries dazed, dropping a few sheets on the ground. she lifted her head to see who the culprit was, and there was somthing familiar about him...
she noticed they eyes and general face frame first. she was confused when she first scanned the fellow but then it becamse very clear, especially after the guy directly spoke to her. that was the give away, constant babbling. she grinned. "ian!" she squeaked, her voice not quite ready for the sound coming out. and without thinking, and/or answering his question, she pulled him into a hug. "sorry." she said awkwardly, pulling away. "it's just a lovely surprise to see you! it has been a while after all. i'm loving it here, and i'm doing charms major, though believe me, that wasn't first on my list." she sighed, pointing to the acoustic on her back. "it's really good to see you, ian." she added, smiling at her good old friend.
