his teeth is near perfection, at least that is what he's been told.
style:
avant is a bit of a scruffbag. frankly, he likes to dress comfortably and school rules be damned, he’ll dress how he likes. for example, his tie. he hates it and will rarely wear it properly if he can get away with it. this means it’s more frequently used as a belt, simply shoved in his bag or, if he’s feeling particularly adventurous, it will adorn his head and he’ll pretend to be a ninja in an attempt to amuse the class. he rarely wears anything formal if he can help it, but when he has to, he prefers the muggle version of formal. his dad doesn’t seem to mind and his mother definitely doesn’t, so long as he wears something more sensible when it’s required, so avant doesn’t really care.
likes:
dislikes:
strengths:
quidditch, flirting (especially with someone else's girlfriend), sex, making out, new things, change, coffee, muggle literature, his twin brother, holidays, snow, cold weather, caramel ice cream, visiting the pub, parties, comedies, birthdays, solving problems.
dislikes:
losing, getting rejected from hot girls, goats, his plans being ruined, his weakness for pretty girls, being told he's sometimes too nice, feeling lost, hangovers, small children, his house (hufflepuff), being manipulated or used, asking for help.
strengths:
confidence, prowess in charms and other spells, hufflepuff quidditch star, problem solving, dueling.
weaknesses:
girls, getting in other peoples business, potions class, slightly big ego.
fears:
avant fears dying or his brother dying, getting really old, breaking a bone, not finding love one day.
dreams:
either becoming a proffesional quidditch star or being a photographer.
secrets:
'drinks' liquor when he's alone.
personality:
before i go in depth, be clear that avant has traits of every house - some more prominent than his actual house but however the sorting hat knows what he's doing. anyways ... avant is, frankly, rather more like his father than his mother. avant is pretty quick to jump to conclusions and to do almost anything. impulsive might be a nicer way of putting it, but the word describes so much more than his tendency to just jump into things head first without thinking about it. the fact of the matter is, the boy has no tact. much like so many members of his family before him, the concept of things having a time and a place are somewhat alien to him, and as such he often offends people ( usually by accident ). if he thinks of something that needs to be said, he'll say it regardless of his current audience, which has led to some embarrassing situations for himself and others by this point. he’s also insanely honest, only telling a lie when he needs to get either himself or someone else out of a life threatening situation, and then only if necessary ( like if he’s caught by the teachers when in the middle of cheating on his exams. yeah, then he’d lie like a bugger ). he isn’t adverse to cheating or underhanded tactics, even if they make him feel a little guilty. but hey, he wants to beat his rivals and he’ll do whatever he has to, so long as it’s not really bad. he’d never spike someone’s drink or try to hurt them like that, because that’s just so morally wrong that he can’t even comprehend it.[/div]
flirtatious is probably an understatement for avant – his outlook on romance, sex and pretty much anything to do with either is very widely open and he holds nothing back when around the opposite sex. even when in a relationship, he can't help himself and he will flirt, but he doesn't mean anything by it – he just doesn't see the problem in celebrating the body. flirting is also a bit of a defense for avant – when he has a large problem to face, he'll make a comment on how good looking a person is, distract them and himself while he looks for the solution. it's probably not an entirely healthy way to start a relationship, but this tactic of distraction has ended up with avant in more than a few strange beds in the last two years. at the end of the day, though, he might flirt with someone, but when he's in a relationship, he won't actually sleep with anyone else. for some people, that’s enough to be considered cheating, but for avant it’s just the norm. he might leave them for someone else, but he won't play them for a fool. that's just too disrespectful, even for him. this loyalty expands into his general lifestyle too – he treasures his friends and family, only wanting them to be happy, and he sticks to his morals. these morals just happen to be a teeny tiny bit skewed.

history:
it was a little bit of a surprise when avant popped out of the womb on a rather rainy day, as olivia had actually been expecting a girl. not that it was a problem, exactly, but she'd already decorated his bedroom pink and picked out a lovely name for her darling little girl. instead, avant isaac potter came into the world and immediately started bawling his eyes out. but it wasn't long before he found himself with a companion, actually about three minutes later his twin brother was born. the problem of the room was soon sorted out and the three of them settled into their home. notice i said the THREE of us, their father james hadn't really been in their lives. much to avant and his twin brother's frustration.
when they came of age, they both instantly became the perfect tug toys for each other and something to chew on when their teeth were beginning to hurt. but much like he’d been noisy from birth, avant was already proving he could be a real nuisance, and even though he was already settling into his role as protective big brother by the time he was old enough to realise chewing on nicholas was bad, he was also happily settling into the role of being his biggest annoyance too. they loved to play with each other, real close - actually nothings changed much in that area.
he first displayed magic when he was about nine, causing the family fish, phillip, to explode when avant thought he was dead. this probably should have been enough to warn everyone off leaving him with animals in the future, but nicholas wanted a cat and so the devastation continued. avant thought it would be a good idea to test some of his uncles pranks on the cat, resulting in singeing off most of its hair, making it rather mad and being scratched up badly by the little fiend. avant and the cat have avoided each other ever since, and he's never been allowed a pet. but he’s vowed he’ll get a dog when he leaves school, but he can’t have one while he stays at home. nicholas honestly found it all funny, but olivia had been furious.
the kids grew up and avant and his brother turned eleven, finally getting their hogwarts letter. to say avant was excited was probably an understatement – he ran around the house the moment he got his letter, pulling out some clothes and his favourite items trying to pack so he was ready for september. after his excitement had been quelled and his things unpacked in hogwarts, he started really preparing for the trip towards his future. he missed his mother while he was away, but he was also so excited by this new adventure that he didn’t feel too homesick. he sent letters home constantly, detailing all the amazing things he saw and did at school; often omitting when he got into trouble. his favourite things to date was probably playing on his quidditch team and being listed as top of his classes in dueling, charms and transfiguration. his worst part so far was being sorted into hufflepuff - first of all they split him from his brother and he didn't like the name.
ahh well, life continued and he and his brother both made reputations as two of some of the coolest and most popular guys in hogwarts. hogwarts passed and the university came up. status traveled from hogwarts to the university and basically their reputations remained the same as it was in the school before. avant met different people, tried his hand in a few relationships and accomplished a number of things but now this is his last year. the road to becoming a man had been long and a bit rough, but here he was.
rp example:
It was all well and good having a day off, Gwen mused, provided you had someone to spend your day off with. She'd had to practically beg for the time to spend with her husband, Rhys, but upon finally getting these precious hours to spend with her beloved, he'd had to pack up and bugger off over to Swansea to deal with an emergency. Talk about bad luck for her. As it was, she now had twenty four hours to kill and she'd be damned if she crawled back to the Hub, asking for something to do with her time. She'd earned these hours and she was going to enjoy them, with Rhys or without him.
She'd rather enjoy them with him, though.
She sighed a little, pulling her jacket around her body a bit more in an attempt to keep out the cold weather and folded her arms over her chest. Dark clouds loomed overhead, threatening the people below with torrents of rain, and a chill wind was rife in the streets, piercing even the thickest woollen fleece without mercy. She wouldn't change it for the world, of course, as Cardiff was her home town, but she'd much rather have a bit of sunshine than this dull grey weather she was faced with. Then again, it was winter, so she couldn't really complain too much – at least she'd gotten a fair bit of use out of the scarf her mother had sent her for Christmas just gone. She scanned the streets with her eyes quickly, not really paying much attention to the few other people around but more just finding something else to focus on instead of thinking about how much she could do with a nice warm coffee right now. She should have had a lay in, she hadn't slept in for ages.
”Right,” she muttered to herself, rubbing her arms slightly in an attempt to warm up. She was speaking quietly enough that no one would hear her and think she was insane, but she needed some kind of company. She focused her gaze on the shopping centre that was so close, just a few more minutes walking. ”I need some bubble bath, some chocolate and some coffee. And maybe a nice bottle of wine in case Rhys decides to come home tonight. Bloody arse,” she continued muttering to herself, rolling her eyes but smiling fondly. She was so proud of him, manager of transport at Harwood, doing so well at his job. It was fantastic to see him succeed and be happy, she couldn't wish for anything better. Thinking about her husband distracted her from the cold as her mind wandered, thinking of how she could cook him some dinner instead of him doing so for her, of how maybe she could plan something fun for the evening when he got in...
Giggling a little bit too much like a school girl, Gwen reached the shopping centre and groaned in pleasure as the heaters blew hot air into her face upon entry. God, that was nice. She walked in and as far away from the automated doors as possible, removing the woollen hat she'd shoved on in a moment of madness and loosening her scarf a little bit to enable her to breath. She hated wrapping up like this, but it was a necessary evil. She stopped by a bench, just in front of a small group of plants that were failing to thrive in the interior of the building, and just stood there for a minute. She was starting to feel a little guilty, wandering off today when she should be back at the Hub, helping out. They were still dealing with the fallout from the Dalek invasion, from the deaths of Tosh and Owen, and while it did hurt a bit less to think of them these days, it wasn't at all better.
