YOU CAN MAKE EVERYTHING HYPOTHETICAL [/size][/font] BUT YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN A LOVE LIKE OURS [/size][/font] these were the days that quinn harper needed to be outside. the harper family wasn't as rich as some, perhaps, but they had money. whether that was old money or new money really didn't matter much to quinn, but he was asked the question all the same. his parents really weren't that strict on him, contrary to common belief, so it wasn't like he had a limit on how much they allowed him to spend. the only thing they had said no to was a muggle automobile, and for that he was still trying to understand their point of view. they were wealthy, gorgeous wizards. everyone's eyes were on them and their children. quinn could see the possible backlash of gossip had they agreed to buy him such an item. however, that hardly stopped him from skipping town every now and then to attend one of those muggle car shows. besides, who was going to follow him out of london, anyway? he was a harper, but he wasn't the bloody minister of magic. there wasn't anyone keeping tabs on him, thankfully enough, so the only risk factor he really had was someone he knew seeing him leave. and like always, he wasn't too worried about that happening. it wasn't like quinn harper to worry about anything, really.
quinn peered down the stairway, moving out of sight again as a few heads turned his way. he was only looking for marley and her friends, for reasons that he really didn't feel like explaining to anyone. he briefly stepped back into his room, reaching for the nearest quidditch broom out of his closet. yes, he had several brooms to choose from. he was a harper, he always had options. except when it came to adalynn, obviously. furrowing his eyebrows at the thought, quinn stepped into the hallway, descending the stairs despite the few girls that had spoken to him. so, he was rude today...so what? he had other things on his mind, things that ordinarily wouldn't have bothered him as bad as they had slowly begun to. it wasn't that she was the only thing on his mind, just yet....but quinn feared that in the future, if he didn't get a hold of these feelings of his, that she soon would be. and if you knew anything about quinton harper, it was the fact that he was not, absolutely not a one-woman man. quinn liked variety; it's what kept him so intrigued. he couldn't stay with a girl for more than a week or two -- and even then, there was a fair chance that it had already been 'over' the first day he had agreed to it. in his defense, he had come with a reputation when he graduated hogwarts. everyone knew that he was up to no good; so when they signed up for this, they should have known that getting too attached to him would only end in heartbreak. he didn't do relationships very well; the mere thought of one disgusted him, honestly. how someone could stay attracted to one person for the rest of their life was beyond him. arithmancy had been nothing compared to the riddles of the heart. quinn was no mathmatician, and he refused to deal with it.
it was a bit stubborn on his part, refusing the idea of anyone else being in his life. but it wasn't like he was entirely alone -- he had all of his siblings, friends, and....other people to be there for him. if he wanted someone there beside him, he could have her. it wasn't him being over-confident (oh, merlin, who was he kidding) but he knew that he had the upper hand when it came to the opposite sex. knowing that he was stunning wasn't rocket science, it was the cold, hard truth. and he frequently used that advantage, though for one girl it didn't seem to have an effect. merlin, there she was again. soaking up every spare thought he had, and taking over the ones that he couldn't afford to spare. it really didn't matter what he was doing, somehow everything seemed to remind him of the one girl that he knew he couldn't have. ...that he shouldn't have. she was his sister's best friend, which was dangerous territory that a brother should have never crossed. but wait, that had happened to harry potter, right? ron wasn't his brother or anything, but he certainly went ahead and snagged the bloke's sister, didn't he? godric, he had to stop trying to make sense of all of this. it simply wasn't going to happen. quinn reached the fields, stopping in his tracks the moment he spotted her. merlin, he really couldn't get away from this girl, could he? even worse, he couldn't help what was about to happen next. quinn immediately strutted (and it was strutting) over to her side, pulling a confident grin to his face. "come to watch me play, did you?" quinn offered a wink, carefully concealing the fact that his heart had begun beating a little faster than normal. he could ignore that for now, though. he always did.

[atrb=style,background-image: url('http://www.desktopwallpaperhd.com/wallpapers/27/23276.jpg');,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][cs=2] promise me that you're gonna treat it right. | it was always rather difficult having two homes. not that Adalynn had known this pre university of course. her parents were happily married, or a fake happy as they could pretend anyways. the two homes was her own doing really. see she had intended on living in the dorms with marley naturally but then also wanted to have her own apartment. for the summers and such. since she really didn't want to return home over summer vactation from school. especially when she had all intentions of participating in a few summer classes. however, it wasn't the problem with having two homes. the problem was that she had a puppy at her apartment that she had to walk every day and generally take care of. she didn't want to bring him back to the dorm, since puppies were never mentioned in the allowed animals. so she left dear Bouser at home. the load of walking she had to do every day was definitely helping her figure, but there were nights when she really didn't want to return to the dorm. most of the weekends she spent at her apartment unless she had plans otherwise. the apartment was a good escape though especially with quinton attending the same university because it offered her a place to go. where there would be no distractions and it would be quiet or loud if she wanted it to be. of course this was when the puppy wasn't bugging her to play or just to give him attention. it was hard to say no to him as well, at least Adalynn found it hard too. when her classes were done with she would return home to walk Bouser then to spend some time with him. often finding herself doing her homework there then returning to the dorms late at night. it wasn't great for her sleep truth be told but she tried to make up for it on the weekends.
since Adalynn was never much of a partier her weekends often consisted of things most people would find boring. most of the time she spent with her friends, mainly Marley but the others as well. as much as she loved her best friend though, hanging out with Marley usually also meant seeing Quinton. given that the two of them were twins he often showed up. most of the time out of the blue, taking Ada's breath away whenever he did. she felt like a silly little school whenever she was around him and that was not a feeling she was acustom too. nevermind the fact that she hated keeping something from her best friend. Marley knew everything there was to know about her, except for the fact that she had this massive crush on her twin. it was a conversation that Ada did not know how to have with her best friend. she was sure that was most definitely crossing some sort of invisible line. even if it was just a crush that would more then likely never amount to anything. sure, they had shared a rather awkward but steamy kiss once but that didn't mean anything. right? merlin Adalynn was definitely the last person to know about that sort of thing. it was awful the man seemed to be slipping more and more into her thoughts as of late and she had no idea why. especially when she wanted to be thinking of anything but him!
it was infurating really. he was a guy who could and had any girl that he wanted. definitely not someone that was going to pay attention to her. when he did she was sure it was only because she was Marley's friend or because their parents made him. he was a guy that she should hate, she wanted to hate but yet she couldn't bring herself too. no matter how many times she repeated in her head that she hated Quinton Ellis Harper. she often wondered why he couldn't be more like Ellery. who scared the crap out of her. no, he had to be this- ugh! she immediately stopped her thoughts. that was just enough thinking about him. laying in her bed petting Bouser was doing nothing but bring her thoughts to him. huffing and looking down at her dog she raised her eyebrow at him. "are you putting these awful thoughts in my head?" she asked her dog who simply whimpered and tilted his head at her. laughing she scratched Bouser's head then jumped off her bed. she needed to do something productive that was all. that would get her mind off of Quinton, it had too. perhaps she could go and visit Marley? her best friend was often someone who could help take her mind off Quinton, even if she didn't know it. which was odd considering Marley was his twin and often shared stuff about her brother with her. silently cursing herself Adalynn shook her head and made her way out to the kitchen. obviously even trying something productive to do lead her thoughts to Quinton. it was horrible honestly. standing in her living room, tapping her barefoot silently against the wooden floor she tried desperately to try and think of something to do. going to visit Marley though was the only thing she could come up with. she had baked more last night then she had in a long while. so much so that she was out of ingredients so baking again was out of the question. she knew she could always take some cookies to Winter but really, she didn't have a clue where he would be. so instead she opted to take cookies to Marley.
looking down when she felt two paws on her foot she laughed. "you want to come too huh?" she asked Bouser who replied with a park and ran over to the closet. going into the fridge to grab out one of the cookie tins Adalynn placed it on the counter. going into the closet to get out Bouser's leash and her shoes, a pretty pair of strappy heels that went nicely with her outfit. placing the leash on Bouser's collar then grabbing the cookies, making sure she had her wand Adalynn left the apartment. it wasn't an easy walk with a puppy in tow who wanted to stop and smell every little thing he passed. it took longer then usual but she wasn't really in a hurry. deciding to take a short cut through the quidditch fields once she reached the campus. it was a decision that she would come to wish she didn't make. as Bouser stopped to take a smell of some near by grass Adalynn stopped with him. adjusting the strap of her purse so that she could stick the cookies inside. closing her eyes as her heart practically stopped at the sound of his voice. merlin she knew cutting through the quidditch fields was a bad idea. as Bouser pound towards Quinton as happy as could be Adalynn slowly turned towards him herself. "didn't know you came here to practice." it was a horrible lie, of course she knew. she could see the fields from her dorm room and often saw him practicing. "i was just out taking my dog for a walk. on the way to see your sister." yes, bring up Marley. she was a safe net for the girl. "you wouldn't happen to know if she's in our dorm do you?" Adalynn asked trying to stop Bouser from jumping up on Quinton but the Yorkie pup was determined to be petted by the man. "sorry, he's just a pup." she apologized. merlin she hated that this man could take her breath away without even doing anything. curse the Harper family for being so gorgeous.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. Quinton Harper knew good and well that love was a rare thing. he still wasn't convinced that his parents had found it, though they often attempted to show small signs of affection towards one another. from an early age, Quinn knew that his family was... different from other families. they were obviously richer than anyone he knew, but aside from that, the Harper family was, in an odd way.... more attractive than other people. as a child, it was an odd thing to experience, all of that attention from so many people. he eventually realized that it wasn't their fault that they were drawn to him, and at first it had upset him. Ellery was the most comfortable with being what they were, and after that was currently where Quinton stood. however, it had actually taken him quite some time to get to that point. on the exterior, he had always had to act a certain way. his father was completely normal, but despite being 'average', he was still dashing enough to snag their mother. both of his parents were completely regal in a sense that Quinn was still trying to understand. much like the rest of the pureblood world, the Harpers knew that they were better than everyone else. they obviously had an advantage that no one else had -- well, not very many people had -- and they generally used that advantage as often as they possibly could. not many men could say that they'd had a date for every night of the week for as long as they could remember, but Quinn Harper could. it was in that way that fate had dealt him a crushing blow that he just couldn't outwit, bribe, or woo. that blow came in the form of a breathtaking girl named Adalynn Goyle, the only girl that he'd ever met that was completely off-limits to him.
as usual, Quinn didn't understand the meaning of 'off-limits', even when it came to his twin sister's best friend. in a sense, he couldn't understand why Adalynn had been the one girl to stand out to him in the crowd of girls that Marley hung out with. there were so many of them, afterall, and they were all stunning. but there had been something about Ada that Quinn just couldn't resist... and several years later, he was still chasing the girl. merlin, it was frustrating. in terms of relationships, Quinn had never known what it felt like to lose ground; or, rather, not gain any ground to begin with. he and Adalynn had shared multiple conversations by this point, afterall... did girls not see things differently than he did? Quinn was pretty sure that they did. he could remember multiple instances when girls thought too much of a wink he shot in their direction, or a short conversation he'd have with a classmate over homework. but that probably had a lot to do with who he was... being veela and all. Quinn knew that it wasn't their fault; everyone tended to turn their heads at him when he passed them on the sidewalk. people across the street from him in Hogsmeade stared until he was completely out of sight. he wasn't full veela, but he was certainly veela enough to cause a stir amongst his fellow students at the university. only a week ago he had been reminded of that through a letter from keon lane, apparently a mutual friend that he and Adalynn shared. that was another weird thing about himself and Ada... although they shared so many mutual friends -- not including Marley -- they still couldn't manage to hold an average conversation with one another. Quinn couldn't quite put his finger on it, but there was something between them that not even he could ignore.
that wasn't to say that he hadn't tried, though. but even dates with other breathtaking women (some even older than he was) couldn't take his mind off of Adalynn. well... they could for a while, but it wouldn't last. none of them did. as of late, none of them had even made it back to his apartment, which was more of an accomplishment for Quinn than he cared to admit. many of his friends couldn't quite understand his dilemma. he was half-veela, filthy rich, and surprisingly clever.... what was the problem? Quinn knew that he could have any girl that he wanted, aside from Adalynn... but see, that was the problem. Quinn had never been denied a single thing in his life aside from this one girl, and despite knowing the possibility of hurting her, he still couldn't help but like her. he knew that he was being entirely selfish, but it was something that he had accepted by this point. he didn't want Marley to get hurt; merlin knew that was the last thing he wanted. but by this point, he couldn't help himself. he had to have Adalynn Goyle, and if she kept dragging him along.... well, he'd probably go mad. and that was something that nobody needed to see. "just sometimes.... every day." he grinned, crossing his arms over his chest. he couldn't expect her to know that he played quidditch; it wasn't like she had to care about his personal life. she couldn't be blamed for the fact that Quinn knew most everything about her -- truthfully, he had gotten most of his information from Marley. who, hopefully, hadn't caught on to what he was getting at by now. as her next sentence caught his ears, Quinn exhaled as a soft laugh escaped his lips. " can't say i'm surprised; you two seem to be attached at the hip every time i see you." he didn't expect any less; they were best friends, afterall. it wasn't their fault that he was harboring the world's most forbidden crush on the girl in front of him. Quinn shrugged his shoulders lightly, bending down to pet the puppy that had ran over to him. "she was there this morning when i dropped some stuff off... i'm betting she's still there. i could always walk you over there, if you'd like." Quinn offered a rare smile, one that quickly diminished once he realized it was there. "not that you couldn't walk yourself over there, of course." he quickly added, laughing softly under his breath; more at himself than anything else. if it were anyone else, Quinn could have arranged a date for the two of them by this point. but it was Adalynn Goyle, and the only thing Quinn felt right then was helpless.

Adalynn had been excited for her first day of class, almost as excited as she was nervous. she had finished her breakfast before her best friend and because she didn't want to get lost she had set out to find their first class. she had all intentions of going back to find Marley after she found their first class but something or rather someone had distracted her. given that she was a first year and majority of the first years had the same classes, it should be no surprise that Quintion was in most of her classes in her first year. her first class had been Transfiguration and she had little trouble finding the room so she had turned to go back to get Marley. though as she stepped out of the room she found herself starring up into the most mesmerizing blue eyes she had ever seen. she seemed completely awestruck by the male before her, so much so that she couldn't even form a sentence to speak to him. Adalynn had fumbled trying to get around him but when she stepped to her right he would step to his left and it almost looked like they might be dancing. she had given an awkward laugh and had felt her cheeks reddening more and more with each passing moment until finally he gave a laugh and stepped to the side. of course she practically flew by him the moment he had and almost ran right into Marley. she hadn't known his name until Marley introduced her to her brother and Adalynn had felt her stomach drop.
even at the young age of eleven Adalynn had felt something for him, just at the time she hadn't known what it was. perhaps at first it was just attraction, or his veela charm that had hooked her but whatever it was it had hooked her good and hard. that was the first time she had ever laid eyes on Quinton, even if she hadn't stuck around to find out who he was before Marley got the chance to introduce them. the awestruck feeling should have been enough to warn her off him, as should the fact that he was her best friends brother but it just seemed to not help. whatever it was she felt for him just kept growing every time she saw him or talked to him. the fact that he was Marley's brother was probably the only thing keeping her from making a fool out of herself. why even attempt to venture down a path that would be good for no one was what she often reminded herself. not that she ever thought in her wildest dreams that Quinton would ever be interested in her for more then a one time thing, but she wasn't even going to go there. for Marley's sake and for the sake of their friendship. she had slipped once over the years, and gave into temptation when he had kissed her that once at the Harper Manor. it was a moment she'd never forget but one she tried desperately not to think about. the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to try again and she knew that just wouldn't do. it would give her further hope for something that she'd never have.
Adalynn had felt herself blush under his grin, almost in a guilty manner. she knew that he practiced at the Quidditch Pitch quite often, figuring he was probably there more then he was in his dorm. the main reason she knew was because if she looked out the dorm she shared with Marley and two other girls, she got the perfect view of the Quidditch Pitch. as it happened her desk sat in front of that window and there had been several times that she'd spot Quinton on the pitch and she'd become distracted from her homework. the warmer months were hell for her that was for sure. why the man decided to practice with his shirt off was beyond her, that had to be dangerous. not to mention that it distracted her even more and she had to be careful that Marley didn't catch her. "you chase after the snitch right?" she might not participate in Quidditch herself but it didn't mean she didn't know anything about it. "from what i've seen you're a pretty good chaser as well." not realizing what she had said until the words had escaped lips, biting down upon her lower lip then looking away from him. perhaps he would simply think she meant when she saw him at the Harper Manor. a smile appeared on her lips at his remark because she knew it was true. Marley and herself had been nearly inseparable since they met upon the Hogwarts Express. "its not every day a girl finds a best friend like your sister. we have a lot in common, that's all." Adalynn knew she'd be lost without Marley, even with her other eight best friends. which was the harsh reality of falling for her brother.
"there are times when you see me without her. like now." or the time you kissed me, she thought to herself. her voice held a teasing tone and the smile stayed upon her lips. Adalynn's eyes were dragged to Quinton's lips the moment she saw him smile. it wasn't very often she ever saw him smile, it was usually a smirk or a grin. "you have a nice smile." she murmured in a compliment, forcing her eyes away from his lips and down at the ground to her pup, who was anxiously smelling everything around him. "i wouldn't want to trouble you or take you away from your practice." bringing her gaze back up to his at his offer, biting down momentarily upon the corner of her lip. "i should hope i know the way, after all it is my dorm as well." Adalynn laughed shaking her head at him, a stray piece of hair falling before her eyes. "unless of course you were wanting to see your sister for something?" was that hope she heard in her voice? she was unsure. the last thing she should want was to spend more time around him but at the moment she was actually enjoying his company. there was no harm in them being some kind of friends was there? after all, she should get along with Marley's twin, shouldn't she? her thoughts were twisting their way into trying to make her think being around him was okay and she wasn't completely arguing against them. regardless of how sweaty her palms felt or how nervous she felt.
