so, lovely staffers of rtb. this an epic site, and you guys have done a wonderful job of running it. however, i do have four ideas to make rtb en more epic. here they are:
1.) have an actual quidditch team, including both practices and matches? it can be done by rp posts. the rules would have to be talked out by the staffers of rtb, but i have a few ideas for rules:
- players would have to write 400-500 words per post so the game could be easy to follow
- if a chaser tries to score a goal, a beater hits a bludger towards a player, the keeper or player would have 12-24 hours to react. if they don't, the chaser scores or the player gets hit by the bludger.
- only when the referee account says the snitch is out, the snitch is really out.
2.) a word count thingy. it can have it's own separate side box on the sidebar, or be under the white message box when you create a thread/write a reply on the forums. but in order to make sure the members are posting rp posts over four hundred words, this would be nice.
3.) a list stating the romance status of the characters of syh? like, there could be a list of single people, a list of couples together, a list of 'it's complicated' people, etc. this would be nice so people don't confused when looking for love plots.
4.) a gossip column. there can be a "gossip witch", "gossip wizard" account or something like similar. members could pm the account with potential gossip about their characters. then, every week, two weeks or month the "gossip witch" could post a gossip column from a few of the subscriptions.

so hopefully i can answer these right xD
1. i've never seen any quidditch threads done very well. practices are easier than games just because it's very hard to get people on to post. the idea can be brought up again once we have more quidditch players?
2. i've been meaning to get that up, it will be up soon (:
3. a list of relationships might get a little confusing? it would be hard to update at times imo? cause like characters can get together, characters can become single, characters can be interested in more than one character...usually it's in their signature? idk once we have the site more settled down with everything we might be able to put that up.
4. the staff will talk about this. i've seen it happen before and it is nice to always keep up with what's happening.

i think with the relationship thing, we'll just post the couples that are together when it comes to things like the spotlight so that everyone is up to date at that time specifically, and can be updated once a month.

i actually had a thought on the quidditch matches. i know that having people roleplay the threads gets rather confusing, and you're right, in my experience they are poorly done because nobody wants to get hit by a bludger or fall off their broom, so i did it this way once on a site of my own:
since there are 7 members to a team, the staff put together 35 random questions pertaining to the entire harry potter world. those questions were then sent out to the captains of the opposing teams, who would have a chance to answer only 5. any 5, and they would have to put their character name in brackets beside their answers. each member would be on their honour to make sure they answered the questions as best as they could, minus the help of google, though they may consult books if they wanted. they would be permitted 24 hours to answer their 5 questions before they would have to pass the questions and their answers onto the next player on the list, who would then do the same thing, until it reached the very last player on the list.
once received by the last player, they would have to try and answer as many of those last five questions as they could. they would then have 24 hours to send the list back to the admin, who would check the answers of both teams. at that point, you could either post the results of who won the match based on how many questions were correctly answered, or you could take a look at who answered which questions, how many were wrong or right, and then you can construct a commentary of the match based on that. for example, if a beater answers a question right for gryffindor, they would hit the bludger toward a hufflepuff chaser, and depending on whether they got the answer right or wrong, it would determine whether they were hit or not.
i'd be more then willing to help with this if it sounds good, but this was just me adding my two-cents. (: i don't know if this would be all that appealing to people or not, so i totally leave it to the discretion of staff.

1. quidditch. i've seen it done rather well on a site called "life is a show". the admins do the posting. and it's like... hard to describe how they do it. i'm currently talking to them about using their set up. we would obviously have to credit them, and it's not quite posts as much as it is just one line actions, done by the admins. my friend alexis is on the site, and she says it works really well. from miss fox over at lias 2. yus. please. 3. see, we had this on dol, and it was... a pain in the neck. like. useful? but a pain in the neck. maybe engagements, marriages and such like that. or kids and whatever. but dating is too subjective. more concrete things though. why not? 4. GOSSIP. I LOVED WRITING ALL THE GOSSIP. i mean, i know i'm not staff anymore, but i do love writing it, and it's good practice for me and my journalistic ass going to college. i would very much like to second this. and write it, if i'd be allowed. lovely. (:
