all of her life, adele had been a mostly solitary being. she was used to being alone, or without many people. her father had never been around much, even when she was a child. when she was younger, seeing him was the highlight of her day or week. and she loved him with all her heart, but as she grew up, she learned that james potter was not all she thought him to be. he wasn't the best father- not to her, not to evie, not to the twins, who, coincidentally, she didn't even know existed until she got to hogwarts and met her older brother, avant. when she found her family, she insantly clicked with them, but before that, all she had was her mother and her baby sister, jessie. the three girls were close as the sisters grew up. neither of them knew there was anything up with the fact that their father was barely around. it didn't even register when they knew about their sister, evie, who had a different mother, but was the same age as adele was. she was used to being in small groups of girls. guys were just never a big part of the picture. not until her brothers. and even then, it was still a small group. she never felt like she needed anyone else. silence was never a welcomed companion, but she always had music playing- whether it be her mother's old favorite bands on her mother's iPod or radio at home, or her own favorite music that she discovered on her own, she was never alone when someone was playing music. dependence on others was a taboo for her, in all honesty. she didn't want to be attached to people, seeing as attachment gave a person the ability to break her. so she was an independent person. but in this, in her independence, she was lonely.
adele had good days and bad days when it came to her loneliness. on her good days, it didn't bother her. on her bad days, the loneliness was almost unbearable. even when she listened to music, it seemed that silence was closing in on her. she had never been claustrophobic or anything before in her life. but when it came to the silence and emptiness closing in, she was terrified. the old, childish need to be wanted seemed to rush over her as she looked up from her page of doodles. there were plenty of people around- just none that seemed to want to talk to her. either that or they knew better. adele potter wasn't the most outgoing of people. that was not why she was placed in ravenclaw. she was a studious girl who liked to keep to herself. and yet loneliness was a spreading disease in her at the moment. as she scanned the courtyard for a friendly face, the only one she came upon was her cousin, alex, and his friend. she'd never been extremely close with the weasley's- at least not alex's band of weasley's. while lennox and alex were extremely nice people and good for a laugh, they were never really that close with adele. maybe it all had to do with the fact that she was never truly a potter. not the way the twins were. still, he was a nice guy, and he was always good for help with theory homework. she was just about to wave him over when she turned the corner and bid goodbye to his friend. she watched as they parted, her eyes unwillingly catching his before they dropped back down to her paper. he was handsome, no one could deny that. and even his company would be a blessing at the moment. but adele said nothing. she simply returned to her doodling. re-doing templates |

"I'm telling you, Fish, you should've been there!" |
It really wasn't often that Maverick Rowle was separated from his best mate, Alexander Weasley. The two of them were usually attached at the him, running around and stirring up trouble anywhere and everywhere that they went. They were the closest to brothers that two friends could be - they even looked like they could pass for brothers - yet, not surprisingly, there were times when the two of them weren't together. And when this happened, naturally Maverick had to fill his best mate in on every waking moment of his life that Goldfish had been missing. "Strippers. Fighting. It was like, the single greatest thing I'd ever witnessed. I kept throwing money at them until I realized I didn't have any left, and then when I tried taking some out of their underwear to buy more booze, they got pissed and called security on me. So ultimately, I was kicked out for stealing from strippers." Leave it to Maverick to do something ridiculous like that. He was snickering though, and seemed quite proud of his misfortune. "I've reached a new high point of my life, Fishy." He finished, his laughing getting progressively louder and louder. Maverick always had the most bizarre stories to tell, it seemed. He was always getting himself in and out of these ridiculous situations. He barely even noticed where he was walking - Goldfish had just asked to accompany him somewhere, and considering that he had tons of homework that he should be doing, the only option that he really had was to avoid it. His button up shirt was wrinkled, lazily rolled up to his elbows, and the last three or four buttons were left carelessly undone; they probably had never been buttoned up in the first place. His messy brown hair fell into his eyes, and there was a red and gold tie around his head, falling onto his shoulder. He normally wore those on his head, though, so that wasn't anything too different. He was wearing a pair of skinny jeans and beat up shoes, considering that he wasn't necessarily the most fashionable person, he just wore whatever he liked and whatever was comfortable for him. After laughing for a few moments with Goldfish over the sheer idiocy of the things that happened to him, the conversation progressed to a few more silly topics as the strolled through the courtyard. Mav would casually wave to the people he recognized or who nodded at him, but most of his attention was reserved for his best mate. When the pounded fists and parted ways, however, he found himself standing in the middle of the courtyard, completely confused on what the hell he was supposed to do next. He usually got that feeling when Goldfish wasn't around, though. He glanced around the courtyard and shoved his hands into his pockets, spotting a few familiar faces. He waved politely, giving them his usual charming smile, but then he saw her. It wasn't like him to have his attention so entirely captivated by one person, which was so strange about it. If one thing was for sure, though, Maverick enjoyed all things that were strange and unusual. He began meandering towards her, tilting his head to the side slightly as his green eyes flicked down to her notebook, then back up to her face. He knew who she was. Adele Potter, Ravenclaw, Junior. The same year he was in. Of course, people and personalities couldn't just be whittled down to a few words. She was... quiet, it seemed. Very shy and reserved, while he seemed to be the complete polar opposite of that. He didn't know all that much about Adele Potter, aside from the fact that the both shared music classes together, but he wanted to know more. And he was stubborn enough not to give up on that. He flopped down next to her, propped his arms up behind her and shot her a goofy, lopsided smile. "Afternoon. Mind if I sit with you?" It was sort of a stupid question, considering that he was already sitting. He looked perfectly ridiculous with the tie on his head, which just added to that goofy charm of his. "Whatcha drawing? Can I see?" He leaned over, peeking over her shoulder to steal a glance at the sketchbook, still grinning a bit. Yeah, he was a bit obnoxious, but... he was Maverick. adele envied people like her cousin alex and his friends. they were so goofy and fun, and everything that adele just wasn't, and would never be. she loved the closeness between her cousin and his friends- his best friend in particular. even adele and alex weren't that close, she still admired a lot about him. he was everything she wasn't- a gryffindor to the core. alex was all sorts of outgoing and fun, and spontaneous and silly, and he had so many friends it was hard to count. sure, they were similar in the bit that they both had their best friends group they stuck to, but he go up to some people and just... start talking. it was a talent that adele most definitely didn't have. she was jealous of people like arya, with open hearts and minds and the ability to make friends with anyone and everyone. that would never be her, no matter how hard she tried. an absent part of her mind started to wander, thinking of the almost impossible possibility (yes, that made sense) of her being outgoing. smiling with everyone, all the time. beign seen as more than just the music girl, having more than just her circle of friends... falling in love again. was that even possible? falling in love? she was with mason at the time, and she was absolutely happy with him, but they had a mutual understanding. love was not a possibility. when people fell in love, people got hurt. having experienced just that, adele and mason both agreed that they would not fall in love with each other, seeing as neither could take the pain of them being hurt. that was why it was working so well for them. they both knew the score with each other, and despite the fact that she could see herself falling for him, it wasn't allowed, and it kept things simple. he was an amazing kisser, and a romantic at heart, so while they lasted, it was a sweet romance. but to truly fall in love again... it would take a leap of faith and a complete change in her. but thinking of how amazing it felt when she had been in love before, and then again about how she felt with mason gave her a little hope. if only she could guarantee the fact that she wouldn't be hurt again...
but there would never be that fail proof guarantee that she wanted. life was messy, no matter which way you looked at it. so for the time being, she would stay the way she was; quiet, slightly quirky and doodling by herself in the middle of the courtyard, though the last condition seemed to change rather quickly. she knew catching his eye was going to have consequences. he was now coming toward her, and soon he was sitting next to her. she smiled to him nervously, not quite knowing how to handle this. usually when people sat next to her, she ignored them at all costs until they left her alone. but she didn't want to do that. it was her fault for looking at him. he must've thought it was an invitation to sit with her or something. and anyway. she wanted to be more outgoing? here was her chance. "afternoon. no- go ahead." she said, nodding to the spot he was already sitting. "oh, i-" she started, pulling her sketchbook close to her chest. "just doodling. nothing special." she said. she wasn't as confident in her sketching as she was in her music, and she was even less confident in her music as she was in herself, which... wasn't much. she shook her head and handed over the sketchbook to her new companion. "it isn't much, really." she said. she watched his expression, wanting to know what he thought of it. "i'm adele by the way. adele potter." she said, hoping he would reply with his name. she had a vague idea of who he was, seeing as he was friends with her cousin, and she thought she had some classes with him, but wasn't sure. this was what happened when you weren't social. re-doing templates |

Love was a strange word to Maverick Rowle. He knew for a fact that there were definitely people that he loved in his life; people that he relied on and almost certainly couldn't live with out. He didn't mind the fact that he relied on other people so heavily, simply because he knew he wasn't an excessively clingy guy, and tended to know when he was being affectionate or bothering people with said affection. He loved his brothers and sisters, regardless of if they were fully related to him or if they were simply half-siblings. He viewed all of them as his family, and while he was obviously closer to Nyla and Konner than some of the rest, that didn't mean he thought of the rest of them as anything less than his family. He loved his best friends, because they kept him sane by doing all sorts of insane things with him, if that made any sense. He loved all of his bandmates, which bled into the best friends category a bit - but really, what was better than making music with all of your best mates? Nothing, not in his opinion. Love for his friends and love for his family was something that Maverick understood perfectly: he didn't doubt it's existence of validity for a moment. It was romantic love - that deep, passionate love that so many longed for - which threw him for a loop.
He'd dated girls before. He'd flirted with them, charmed them, treated them well, the whole nine yards. The fact of the matter was simply that Maverick tended to lose interest - and boy, could he lose interest quickly. It had gotten to the point that by sixth year in Hogwarts, he'd given up on the concept of relationships entirely, and skipped to what seemed to be his favorite stage of romance: shagging. Everyone knew that Maverick Rowle was quite a bit of a whore, and he'd been sleeping around for quite some time. He didn't settle down, but he never really gave any reasons for this besides, 'relationships are dumb and boring.' To an extent, he'd never felt like he had to settle down. His dad had strung out three different women, all at the same time, and had ten kids because of it. His father had never married a specific woman, even though all three of them probably thought that if they waited long enough, he'd pick them and marry them. But he didn't. He was genuinely uninterested in the concept of commitment, and Maverick claimed that he was going down that same path. Yet, to some extent, he knew that he wouldn't really be able to do that to someone. If he loved them in the way that all those story books described, something gave him the feeling that he wouldn't be able to be with anyone else. Like what Goldfish had with Celeste, right? Trouble was, he wasn't sure if he really wanted something like that.
He was vaguely aware of the fact that Adele was dating Mason, sheerly because he was a popular bloke who tended to hear about most of the school gossip. He was pretty much indifferent to the news, or so he told himself, considering that he didn't know Adele all that well, but he thought Mason to be a pretty decent fellow, hoped that they were happy together, and so on and so forth. He made a mental note not to flirt with her too much as he flopped down in the grass next to her, sprawling out on his back for a moment before sitting up and resting most of his weight on his hands, which he propped up behind him. "Thanks." |
He said, flashing her a goofy grin, almost reaching out to pull the sketchbook away from her before she held it out to him. This surprised him a bit, because in general, shy people seemed to be even more shy about their artistic pursuits. Regardless, he took the sketchpad from her, then smiled down at the doodles she'd drawn. "I like them. I doodle in class usually, but they come out a bit more like..." He drifted off and looked over at her, noticing the pencil in her hand. Without asking, he reached over and grabbed it, then proceeded to start scribbling quickly at the paper which was clutched in her hands. He didn't look up when she spoke again, but nodded as he stuck his tongue out, intensely focusing on his drawing. "I know who you are." He said with a nod, then pulled back to examine his drawing. He wrinkled his nose, seeming unimpressed, then went back to scribbling before he continued. "You're Fish's cousin. I'm Maverick," He said, finally looking up from the sketchpad to give her a smile. "Maverick Rowle." With that, he held the pencil and the sketchpad back out toward her - the latter which now contained a poorly drawn creature which vaguely resembled either a dragon or a unicorn.[/div] hi hi

THIS TEMPLATE WAS MADE BY WILMETTA OF CAUTION.
