[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]there's no sunrise --- dahlia was trying to recover. she was trying to move on from what happened a year ago. her thoughts had become too much to handle in the cafeteria, dahlia had to go out to somewhere peaceful. the lake seemed to be the best choice. she was forced to escape to somewhere that she could distance herself from others. this wasn't healthy. she knew this. for her to get better, dahlia would have to surround herself once again with people. her parents had been worried about dahlia isolating herself from others. to see their daughter running away from the world that she once loved was terrifying. dahlia knew the person that she had been before was still there. while her family had once been in her life, they weren't anymore. she had to keep moving forward. one of the only people that dahlia had been able to open up to was addie nott. she herself was also a mom. they had both been shocked to find pregnancy at an early age but they were different from most students. now that dahlia was by herself, she would need to learn how to be on her own again. dahlia was learning for the first time. for so long, she had grown used to having others around. someone to take care of her but now she was on her own, she would need to learn to be more independent. she had experienced more than most of the students around her would ever experience but that didn't mean that she wouldn't be able to relate to them again. she had once been a free fifteen year old. looking back, dahlia wondered what kind of person she would have been had she never fallen for eli. maybe she would have grown up to be like the other girls. more outgoing and carefree. she was always a little cautious when it came to anything in life. she didn't want to do anything that might mess it up.
dahlia stared out to the lake, a more gorgeous one than hogwarts. she twisted a curly blonde lock around her finger. her legs were crossed sitting on the green grass beneath her. walking out of the cafeteria, dahlia had kind of stormed off. not in spite or anger but too much on her mind. she was so focused on her thoughts that she hadn't realized how far she had walked till she looked up and realized that her thoughts had led her to the other side of the lake. she had to take a double-take, she was surprised that she didn't know how far she had gone. her feet didn't feel sore even if she had done a half rotation around the lake. after realizing the sunset that was across from her, dahlia plopped herself onto the ground. she had first lied on the green grass turning her head to look at the blades of grass on the ground. to see how natural it was, it had to make her smile. it was so calm. dahlia wouldn't call this much of an escape but it was definitely nice to get away from the drama that the university students seemed to deal with. too many of these students were dealing with drama that wouldn't matter five years from now. five years from now when they would live the life that dahlia had lived just three years ago. she sighed lifting herself off from the ground into a sitting position. the sunset was so gorgeous in her eyes. it was a shame not many students actually went out to see it. it had to be one of dahlia's favorite things to see. dahlia had grown so much from a year ago that she could look at it reflected on the water without having to turn away.
while many things still reminded her of her past, dahlia was trying to move on from that. she had to create new memories. starting with making more friends at university. while she did have those few friends, she felt as if she wasn't exciting enough. she was boring. dahlia hadn't been able to live in her teen years. she had been too focused on her relationship to really deal with anything said. she was twenty-one and still young. her motherly instincts would still kick in but she had to live it up a little bit. she didn't want to go through life never knowing what it was like to live on the wild side. dahlia didn't think she needed a wild friend, just someone to show her another way to live. a different way to live than she was used to. she was used to comfort and everyone taking care of her. dahlia had to learn how to take risks and react last minute. she was so used to planning. writing down every single detail and scratching things out to make them work. dahlia didn't know what it was like to be irrational. the thought of it scared her. to not be in-control and know what was going to happen next. that was the one of the things that actually scared her. now that she was still young, dahlia still had the chance to live her life. now she was going to grab on and live. her first step, she didn't know what it was going to be. she would need some assistance. unfortunately, addie wasn't here and dahlia didn't know who else to turn to. this was the reason why she needed to expand her social circle to others. dahlia had those friends to be relaxed with and responsible with but not those wild friends that everyone had to have. tag: open ! word count: 945 lyric credit: colbie caillat notes: none |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] THE SUN, IT RISES SLOWLY AS YOU WALK AWAY FROM ALL THE FEARS The Words: 845 The Outfit: here The Notes i promise the posts will get better ! today hadn't been anything special for leila. she got out of bed, went for a run and went for classes. it had been the same for the entire week. she had just been going through the motions of everything and trying to stay on task and keep her mind on anything and everything except dealing with the past. that involved extra runs, more quiddich practice and trying to study, though that never seemed to work out well. it was interesting to leila, how so many people would never guess anything bad had ever happened to her because she hid it so well. she laughed, so smiled, she partied and had friends and one night stands. she was a normal eighteen year old exploring her freedom. but no one knew she was running away from everything she didn't want to deal with. even she didn't know just how much she was running or trying to run away from her past.
she had been lounging around in her room for a while, blasting music that her father had recommended to her, while laying in bed and staring at the ceiling. music and running, that's what cleared her mind and allowed her to maintain a very meditated state of nothingness. the band had been alright that leila was listening to, but nothing special. though she wouldn't cancel it out immediately. leila had a tendency to change her mind, and out of anyone she knew music was one of those things you may not like on first listen, but things grow on you. after she had listened to the album of the muggle band, she set her i-pod down and walked to the cafeteria, hoping to grab a bite to eat before going back up to get some studying in, though she hardly wanted to.
she grabbed some quick dinner and sat down at a table with a bunch of girls sitting farther down. they were talking about something, someone that had sparked their interested. normally leila didn't have any interest in gossip, it just wasn't in her nature. but she heard a name, a familiar name that made her ears twitch. dahlia. dahlia was one of her friends, one of her more honest friends, if that could be. the two had an odd relationship because they had both gone through a lot in their short years. now leila wasn't saying that she had lost more than dahlia, or knew how she felt, losing a husband and child. but leila did know loss. and in leila's opinion, dahlia was able to deal with her loss in any way she wanted to. hell, leila herself did. and not well, she might add. from what the leila could overhear, someone had seen dahlia storming out of the cafeteria earlier. then someone else had apparently seen her walking around outside, heading towards the lake. normally this wasn't the normal type of thing for leila to interfere with. people liked their space. but she felt like she needed and wanted to go and see if she was alright. dahlia was like a big sister to her. a sister that she never had, and though there were things the two weren't ready to talk about with anyone, sometimes just being there for someone, even in silence, spoke volumes.
finishing the bite leila had in her mouth, she put away her dishes in the correct spot and headed out towards the lake. the sun was already setting, and leila could see the lake in the distance. it wasn't too far, but it definitely was a bit of a trek. she started to head over to the lake, hoping she would be able to find dahlia before she headed back inside.
the air was warm for the time of the year and leila enjoyed as the remaining sunlight kissed her skin and made it tingle. as she walked, she thought only of dahlia and how strong she was. she had been through so much and was only a few years older then herself. how such a promising life could turn out so horrible. well, leila guessed she knew something about that. coming to the lake, she could see dahlia sitting down in the distance. her back was to her as she watched the sun setting. leila continued towards her, hoping not to scare her, but not to disturb her either. reaching dahlia, leila took a seat on the ground next to her. for a moment, she didn't say anything. they just sat there, watching the sunset. it was a beautiful sight. something that leila probably should see more often to remind her that there were still such beautiful things in life. she couldn't help it, she felt zack in that moment. she felt him and his beauty, though she hated feeling it. she could hear his voice in her head, but she pushed it out. this wasn't about her, and she didn't want it to be. this was about dahlia. dahlia was the one who needed support. leila exhaled and gazed over towards dahlia. "you okay?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;]there's no sunrise --- dahlia turned her head to see leila beside her. she was surprised but a smile grew upon her face. it had been a while since she had actually seen her. they had been able to catch up every so often but leila had been at hogwarts for the last two years that dahlia had been at university. it was hard for the two girls to communicate with one another. until now, distance wasn't going to hinder them. leila and dahlia had been able to become friends at hogwarts, she was a couple years younger but dahlia didn't mind playing the big sister role. she had grown up being the little sister to phoenix that she always wondered what it would like to be an elder sibling. dahlia had always hoped that her parents would decide to have another child however she knew the story. scorpius was done when phoenix was born and didn't want another child. rose had stopped that though by begging and pleading for one more which was how dahlia came to be. phoenix had been named after a constellation like scorpius and she had been named after a flower like her mother. she ran a hand through her curls giving them a shake. "yeah just thinking." she motioned at the grass next to her for leila to sit. it had been so long since dahlia had a chance to talk to leila in person. she didn't know what had been going on in her life anymore. she had secluded herself after the accident and her parents had told her that she needed to see other people. she needed to reunite with her friends. it was true that while dahlia was married that the only person that she truly focused on was eli and orion. she hadn't even felt bad at the time for ditching her friends. when she got time to think about it, she had been an awful friend. she didn't know how she had allowed herself to get so closed up in her relationships.
"what about you?" dahlia looked up at leila. "it's been so long. you're finally in university! how is it?" dahlia had to ask. it was a motherly instinct that took over her. she had remembered her own first year being so exciting in university. it held so many possibilities. her first year at hogwarts hadn't been very scary with phoenix leading her but this time she was more on her own. she had been nineteen and needed to focus on being independent. she didn't have anyone. leila was a girl who didn't have a care in the world though. she hadn't been weighed down like dahlia had been with a husband and child. she was single and could mingle. dahlia did kinda envy that about leila. she couldn't be the same blonde as leila was. leila was free with no baggage while dahlia came with a boulder of baggage. dahlia knew that she would have to let that go. leila could help with that. dahlia just had to surround herself with the right people. her eyes peered down at the grass again before moving back up. she felt so awkward. it had been a long time since dahlia had to be in a social situation. it wasn't that she didn't want to speak to leila, she just didn't think that she would be very entertaining. it wouldn't flow out naturally like conversations were supposed to. tag: open ! word count: 573 lyric credit: colbie caillat notes: fail of a post. |
