you’ve got the names, of the people in the headlines i’m in there under A, and i’m rated under B J ust another day in denton’s life. that’s what today had been. nothing special or interesting had happened. he’d been woken up by his daughter jumping onto his bed, he’d then made her chocolate chip pancakes (her favorite). then he’d showered, with her singing some sort of show tune at the top of her lungs to make him get out faster, then he’d grabbed his gear and jordis’ mini broom and it was off to the pitch. a morning of training and practice, and jordis chasing after the beaters for half the day, and it was time to head home. he’d made grilled cheese and soup for lunch then packed up jordis’ sleep over bag and taken her over to his parents’ house. there he’d endured the usual questions about when he was going to settle down and find a woman to be a mother figure for jordis. he dealt with it because he knew that his mother had a point. he was 24 after all. and jordis was getting into the years where it was going to be hard for him to understand all the stuff she had going on. sure he had his mom and dad’s help, but he couldn’t keep relying on them. it just wasn’t fair.
after saying goodbye to his folks and his baby girl he’d gone back to his place and gotten fixed up. he was heading out for a few road games, but tonight was just a night to go out. him and some of the guys from the team were planning on hitting up nitro. it was getting to the point where everyone at those bars seemed like they were half his age. it was a little disheartening. but then again, the girls were just as pretty. it’s not like it made a difference to him. the reason denton had dropped jordis off at his parents’ early was because he wanted to make sure that if he did end up taking home a girl tonight then he could actually take her home. he would never take a girl home if he had jordis there. he would never let his daughter know he slept with random women. he’d never even brought a girl around her aside from friends. he just didn’t want to risk her getting attached to anyone who turned out to not be the right woman. he didn’t think she could handle it, again. after the shit that her mother put the both of them through he couldn’t let anything happen again.
at the practice earlier in the day the guys had all decided they were going to “cowboy up”, as one of the beaters put it, that night at the bar. so grabbing a pair of jeans and a pair of old cowboy boots he’d borrowed from his buddy denton looked through all his shirts to try and find one that would work. he didn’t want to look like one of those guys that had just gone to the store and bought the cheesiest cowboy shirt he thought was really western. so eventually he just settled on an old cut off t-shirt that he usually just wore when he was helping his parents around the house. looking into the mirror he had to admit it showed his arms off pretty good. chuckling to himself as he added a cowboy hat he couldn’t believe he’d agreed to this. he hoped to hell that it wasn’t some prank and he was going to be the only one showing up like this. if that was the case he’d just apparate back home and change. then he’d work his hardest to pay them all back.
grabbing a sandwich quick denton sat down and grabbed the first newspaper on his coffee table. flipping a few pages he found the piece he’d started reading that morning. it was a piece by a particular intern journalist. this particular journalist was starting to become a thorn in his side. a rather attractive thorn in his side, but that was beside the point. she’d been trying repeatedly to get an interview with him. little did she know when she started that he didn’t give interviews on more than his quiditch career. and even then it was only cursory answers about his style of play and what they’d done right or could have done differently. he liked keeping his private life out of the tabloids. sure there were plenty of rumors about his womanizing ways, or him dating this girl or that. even a particularly funny one about him and his best mate one the team being gay partners and adopting a child from africa. but no one one the press knew about his daughter. sure she came along to allot of the games, but no one had connected her to him yet. mostly because press was not allowed anywhere near their teams practices or into their dressing room after the games.
he’d had plenty of journalists try and convince him to give them the exclusive scoop about his life. this girl was just the latest in a string. but it seemed her boss was getting smarter. sending a young, hot girl to do it this time. he wasn’t complaining about the change, the last guy had been 30 some and fat with pimples everywhere. but she seemed a most determined girl. he wouldn’t put it past her to do some sort of trickery to get the interview. he was finding it almost entertaining seeing the new angles she tried every time. but she had yet to try the one rout that would probably actually get her some facts. he knew who she was, and she was the little sister of a good friend of his. her sister knew all about his life, about jordis and his ex. everything. in fact she often took jordis out for little zoo days and the like when denton was on the road. but he’d gotten from her that she wasn’t entirely close with her baby sister. little aurelia zabini.
finishing reading her newest article he had to admit that she had done her research. the first time she’d tried for an interview he’d doubted whether she’d know which side of the broom went forwards. she’d come back the next time with some facts and a basic knowledge. but untill you actually watched a few matches that’s all it was, you couldn’t truly understand quiditch till you’d seen it played at the professional level. he’d been tempted to send her a couple tickets with a note that she needed more research. but he wasn’t sure if that could be misconstrued as him hitting on her. and he didn’t want that ending up in the papers. throwing the article back on the table he stood up and brushed any crumbs from his sandwich away.
grabbing his wand and wallet he checked himself in the mirror one last time, spritzed on some cologne, and apparated to the club. not the front entrance of course. there was a back entrance that the quiditch teams and other famous people used. it was more just a convenience thing for the bar. if they used the front there’d be lines and people everywhere. looking around as he let himself become re-oriented denton spotted a couple of his team mates. breathing a quick sigh of relief that they were also “cowboy’d up” he made his way over. ”men. shall we make our way in and make every girl in there scream?” he asked chuckling as he high fived his best mate. leading the way in denton nodded to the doorman and patted him on the back as he walked through the door. making their way in it was a second before the dj spotted them and waved as he made an announcement. get ready to keep your girls close men, nitro welcomes the bulgarian national team! grinning denton went over to his favorite bartender. ”donovan, a couple of beer and a shot of firewhiskey for us, yourself and all the people at your bar now.” denton said smiling over at a particularly attractive blond. taking his shot and cheersing his team he cheersed donovan and threw it back. grabbing the beers he moved back to let some of the rest of the team to the front. taking a large swig of the one he glanced back to where the blond had been, only to find her kissing a rather large guy, and not in the muscular sense. smirking he moved over to a stand at a table on the edge of the dance floor. leaning against it he took off his hat and set it beside him. running his hand through his hair he took another swig and began scanning the crowd. he was always looking to see if there was anyone he knew, or anyone he wanted to know.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-color: #343434; padding:20px; border-top: 10px #af9390 solid; border-bottom: 10px #af9390 solid;] we can tear it up tonight ( WORDS ) 1192 ( TAGGED ) DENTON YAXLEY ( STATUS ) COMPLETE tonight was the night that Denton Yaxley was going to learn that she didn't take no for an answer. ever since she had become an intern at the Daily Prophet, he had been keeping her from doing her job. sports of any kind may not have been her thing, but she was determined to make the most out of the situation she was in. Aurelia Zabini never failed at anything she set her mind too and she wasn't about to let some pompous Quidditch player ruin that. perhaps he had been fair in turning her away the first time, given that she had approached with knowing only the basics about his profession. however, she felt he had no right continuing to turn her away. she had went and learned everything she could about the bloody game, right from two of the best sources she could find. what she learned she had nearly put her to sleep and didn't change the fact that she didn't like the game, but her personal opinion wasn't required for her to be able to write a good piece. when Yaxley had turned her away a second time, she nearly through a temper tantrum. since she was already at his game, she figured why not stay and see what the big deal was about this guy. even witnessing him play or the sport again hadn't changed her opinion but she had gotten a better perspective. Aurelia even managed to get a few questions in with a handful of other players from both of the teams. it amused her that one of Yaxley's team members seemed infatuated with her and offered to give her a closer look at the game. she figured she would have been stupid to turn him down, after all it was in the name of research and she wanted to do a thorough job of it.
however, none of that was really important right now. as it stood, Aurelia had it on good terms that the Bulgarian Quidditch team was going to be at Nitro. not only had the other team member told her but her good friend Donovan Vladislav had told her as well. he was one of the few Slytherin's that Aurelia actually got along with, not to mention that he provided a good source for her given that he worked at one of the hottest clubs in town; Nitro. so where was she going tonight, that's right, she was heading to Nitro. only tonight, she wasn't going as a journalist she was going as herself. with all intentions of having fun and maybe just maybe getting Denton Yaxley to give her that interview. okay, maybe she was going as part journalist, but she was still determined to have fun. the night wasn't one that she had been taking lightly, she wanted to be prepared for anything that might cross her path. she had all intentions of going to extreme measures to get Denton Yaxley to give her the one on one interview even if that meant using some dirty tricks. in her findings about Quidditch, Aurelia had also done some research on the player. what she could learn about him wasn't much but it was enough to get her by for the night. even she had heard the rumors of him being a bit of a ladies man, which honestly didn't surprise her. most guys like him used their fame as leeway to get a girl in bed. not that she thought he needed it, he had the looks as well.
shaking her head at that thought Aurelia refused to let herself think of him that way. even if she was intending on using that angle for herself tonight. see, in her findings Aurelia had discovered just what it was that Denton liked in a girl. he liked girls in jeans, who knew what they wanted and though he preferred blonds brunettes intrigued him. it was thankful for Aruelia that she hadn't under went her usual change of hair color that summer, being to busy and preferring to stay her natural brunette color. having emerged from the shower, Aurelia wrapped a towel around her body then begun getting ready for the evening head. drying her hair then placing a few large curls evenly amongst a few strands of hair, giving her that slightly messy but entirely sexy bed look. then applying just a bit of make up to draw attention to her eyes and lips. when she was done with that she had returned to her bedroom in her single room apartment and begun hunting for the perfect outfit. finally deciding on a pair of dark skinny jeans, that hugged her every curve, with a black and red shirt that hung off her shoulders and clung to her waistline. finishing off the outfit with a pair of heeled boots that came up her calve, hiding her pants beneath the boots. Aurelia looked herself over in the mirror and was even impressed with herself. there was no way that Denton would be able to turn her down tonight, she was going to make sure of it. hell, she honestly wouldn't even be surprised if he recognized her. every time she saw him she was full journalist mode, with her glasses on and her hair up wearing whatever she was comfortable in.
having arrived at the night club before the team, she approached the bar and smirked at Donovan. he winked at her and took her purse, hiding it behind the bar for her. taking up an empty stool she ordered a drink and waited for the team to pile in. she was disappointed for before her drink was even half empty they all arrived and they all looked extremely good. Aurelia's eyes of course sought out Denton first and it was hard to keep herself from thinking how attractive he was. finishing off her drink she shook her head as Donovan went to pour her another. pushing off the bar stool she weaved her way through the crowd, making sure Denton didn't see her and took the place of the blond that had been standing next to him but had went off with some rather large bloke. "so, i imagine you get girls throwing themselves at you all the time but i think if your really looking to have a good time you should put the drink down and come dance with me." Aurelia had leaned in and spoke in his ear. if the place had been more quiet she would have whispered but it wasn't and he wouldn't have heard her if she did. normally she would have needed to stand on her tippy toes to do such a thing but the heels were giving her quite the advantage making her the perfect height to pull that off. nodding at Donovan would poured her another drink then slid it towards her, Aurelia leaned against the bar stool and awaited Denton's reponse or reaction. -giggles- <3 credit to WILMETTA of caution 2.0 for graphics |

you’ve got the names, of the people in the headlines i’m in there under A, and i’m rated under B N itro. where the kids came to dance, where the famous came to be seen, and where the desperate came to see. that was how someone had once described it to denton. he thought it fit, for the most part. he liked the place. had since he was back in hogwarts and the guys would sneak out to go party. it was always good for people watching, one of denton’s favorite passtimes after quiditch. they also played good music, and the staff were excelent. donovan was one of the best bartenders denton had ever seen anywhere in the world. mostly because he was friendly, and he tended to watch out for those customers he knew well. one time denton had had some bloke jump him in a corner after denton had apparently hit on his sister, even though denton had only gotten there a minute before, and donovan had seen and gotten the bouncers over there quicker than if they’d apparated. also, if he knew you, the man would pour a single more like a double. which came in handy.
not that denton really drank. the half a beer he’d had, coupled with the shot earlier, was already making him feel a buzz. and that’s where it would stop. denton hadn’t been drunk since the night he hooked up with his ex and got her knocked up. the fact he couldn’t remember if he’d put on a condom was something that changed his opinion on drinking for ever. ya he’d have a beer, maybe two. but that’d be it. after that he’d head back to donovan and the bar keep would get him an energy drink. most people found it weird that he didn’t get drunk, some guys mistook it for being a pussy. but denton just didn’t ever want to loose control like that again. even though it had eventually brought him the biggest blessing in his life, his daughter, he would never slip like that again.
looking out at the dance floor denton had to laugh as one of his team mates was drug out by a pretty red head. this particular team mate had absolutely no coordination off the pitch. put him on a broom and the guy was a fucking artist. but set him on solid ground and denton had never seen a more ungainly person in his life. denton himself prided himself on being a good dancer. something, oddly enough, his father had taught him early. damen had always said that, even if you were horrible at it, girls appreciated a guy who would get up and try to dance with them more than a guy who just said ‘no, i can’t dance’. denton had learned the lesson well. he was no friggen baryshnikov, but he wasn’t bad. his mother said he got his moves from his father, and denton didn’t want to know how. but a summer training in the states had brought him another skill, he could two-step. complete with all those complicated, but impressive, spins and dips that the yanks had. it was one of the things he was glad he’d learned. because girls went wild for it. in the states it had been one thing, but european girls seemed to love it even more.
taking another swig of his beer denton scanned the crowd. he could see a few of his team mates still up at the bar, buying shots for a group of girls who looked like they were out for a bachelorette party. there was his seeker up at the dj booth, most likely getting some country music on to go with their get ups. after all it’d been him who’d had the idea. the two of them had gone to the u.s. to train that summer. it had been a fun time for sure, but denton prefered european women. american women were too pushy, and they also dressed like they should be in a brothel. then again allot of women in europe did too. he wasn’t a fan. well ok no he was a bit of a fan, he’d have to be into dudes not to like seeing a bit of skin and cleavage on a woman. but if he was honest he really prefered a girl in a nice pair of jeans, or shorts or skirt that didn’t show off half their arse. and some top that was sexy, without being slutty. he liked that fine line between the two. though he’d taken home plenty of girls wearing next to nothing, they were just a last resort usually. he liked a girl who would challenge him, someone who looked like they could handle themselves and had some respect for themselves. like the girl moving towards him. he only caught brief glimpses of her as she moved through the crowd. but he could see some dark, tight jeans tucked into high boots. nice legs that moved up into nice curves that were hugged by a red and black shirt hanging off of one shoulder. he had to admit he liked what he saw, even the darker hair which wasn’t his usual preference looked damn good on this girl. and then she stood beside him, and he realised with a quick jolt that it was the little reporter who’d been after him for the last few weeks.
shaking his head and chuckling at her comment denton to a slow sip of beer. ”well that’s a new line from you. changed the story from quiditch to my dance skills now have you my intrepid little journalist?” he asked with a smirk firmly on his lips. cocking an eyebrow at her as he waited for her retort he knew was coming he had to admit she looked damn good. he had to remind himself though that she was somewhere around 4 years younger than him. looking over at the dj booth to see his seeker hanging off of a pole denton shook his head and laughed as the dj made another announcement, girls get ready to get your cowgirl on with the bulgarian national team as they cowboy up tonight!. hearing the music switch over to a particular fast country song, and a personal favorite, denton finished off his beer and slammed it down on the table. grabbing his hat and fixing it firmly on his head he turned back to arelia. ”well darling, if you’re going to try and show me a good time you better be good on those heels.” he laughed grabbing her hand and taking her out to the dance floor, where he promptly spun her away and back into him as the sounds of country girl pumped through the speakers.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-color: #343434; padding:20px; border-top: 10px #af9390 solid; border-bottom: 10px #af9390 solid;] we can tear it up tonight ( WORDS ) 1133 ( TAGGED ) DENTON YAXLEY ( STATUS ) COMPLETE being a damn good reporter as Aurelia was, allowed her to learn just how to keep her own private life under wraps. she may have enjoyed digging into personal lives but she hated having her own on for display unless she was the one to put it there. ever since she was a small child she strived for attention and she came by it rather easy. if her parents weren’t showering her with it then one of her grandparents were or some other rich pureblood family. it wasn't just the spotlight that she liked though, she liked trying to figure out what went on behind that spotlight. what secrets the family might be holding and she learned from a very young age how to figure these kinds of things out. when all else fails go to the oldest person you know because chances are they knew everything about everyone. Aurelia's grandmother was one of her best sources because she was an old busy body who kept on the ins and outs of everyone in the pureblood world. unfortunately for Aruelia when she approached her grandmother about Denton the only response she got was about how handsome he was and that she'd be lucky to settle down with someone like him. it had taken everything in Aurelia not to grumble at the response but she told her grandmother she had no intentions of settling down with a quidditch player. her family was already to filled with them as it was and there was no way she was going through what her mother did. besides, it wasn't as though she had any intention of settling down any time soon. she had a career to focus on and that left little to no time for a social life.
this didn't mean that Aurelia didn't get out, of course she did every chance that she got. being a journalist left her this freedom and she adored it. naturally she had wound up on the front page in more the one occasion but she was always able to save her reputation. most of the time the article would help her instead of push her back, so she wasn't exactly complaining. after all, when you were caught out with the latest hottest item people tended to take notice. she'd be fooling herself if she thought she was the only journalist in the nightclub when the entire Bulgarian team was there. only tonight, she didn't appear to be a working journalist. tonight she looked the part of any other university student out to have a good time and she fooled everyone but the guy she had been trying to fool. raising an eyebrow at his comment, Aruelia took a sip of her drink then lowered her glass. "even though i am sure the female population would love to know if your moves off the pitch are as good as the ones on the pitch. what gives you the impression that i am here working?" she asked, ignoring the grumbles in her mind that were telling her he knew her way to well. how he did, Aurelia wasn't sure but she was determined to figure it out. the two had never crossed paths as far as she could remember so how he seemed to know her as well as he did was a puzzle. "unless of course you think i am hiding some sort of notebook beneath my shirt because there is definitely no other place for me to hide it." yes, she was purposely drawing his attention to her body.
"and if that is what you think Mister Yaxley, i almost dare you to find out for yourself." taking another sip from her drink as she allowed her words to settle into his mind. perhaps she didn't have any writing material on her per say, they were tucked neatly behind the bar under the supervision of Donovan. the man was a saint as far as she was concerned. placing her drink down just in time for Denton to take a hold of her hand and lead her out onto the dance floor, she wondered momentarily if she was getting herself in over her head. it wasn't as though she wasn't a good dancer, in fact she could move fairly well, she just didn't want to give Denton the wrong impression. what that was, she wasn't exactly sure at the moment since her grandmother's words ran repeatedly through her mind the moment he had grabbed for her hand. mentally scolding herself, she pushed those thoughts away and reminded herself that she was here to get a job done. graciously she spun out then back into him, resting her free hand against his chest. trying her best to ignore the pulsing muscle that laid beneath her finger tips. "i want to make you a deal." Aurelia spoke, before following the rest of the dancers in a complicated move that she had no idea how she did it. which only ended in her body pressed against his once again. thank god she had an american friend or Aurelia would have been screwed. "if you leave here tonight without having a good time with me, then i'll leave you alone and give up on this one-on-one interview deal." he had no idea how much this was going to hurt her pride if she lost.
"but, if you go to leave here tonight and you're having such a good time with me that you don't want it to end. then you owe me an in depth one-on-one interview." she was confident that there was no way he would be leaving here without having a good time. she had some tricks up her sleeve that he hadn't seen. "but i'll give you fair warning Denton. i'm not the kind of girl that takes the answer no very well." the entire time she spoke she continued to dance with him, the song coming to an end just as her last sentence finished. winking at him, she turned on her heel and promptly walked away from him. her hips swaying from side to side as she did. if he followed her then the game was on and she had one night to show him a good time where hopefully all her clothes would stay on. if he didn't follow her, then she'd simply have to find another way to get him interested. she wasn't leaving tonight without knowing that she put up a good fight. then and only then could she admit defeat. -giggles- <3 credit to WILMETTA of caution 2.0 for graphics |

you’ve got the names, of the people in the headlines i’m in there under A, and i’m rated under B R eporters were something denton had gotten used to. they were a part of being a sports star. hell they’d been a part of his life for even longer. after all with a famouse quiditch playing mother and grandfather the yaxley’s were fairly recognizable. in fact there was a reporter that was now his mom’s best friend. after a while she’d just gotten sick of her popping up everywhere and had confronted her. they’d cut a deal, if the reporter left mom alone when she was in her personal life danica would give the reporter exclusive interviews. it had been a good plan. but denton didn’t want to make a deal. he just wanted his private life left out of the papers. completely. he didn’t give two shakes of a manticore’s tail if his public life was written about. undoubtedly there would be atleast 3 different storries in the papers tomorow about him and his team mates at nitro. he was sure that within the week there’d be a weekly ‘cowboy up’ night at the bar. more just because people would think that because they’d done it meant it was cool. things tended to happen that way. kind of like that muggle rapper who’d cut himself shaving or some such thing and had worn a band-aid on his cheek. within weeks people thought that was the coolest thing and ten thousand guys were wearing the same style. it was ridiculous. people were sheep.
denton set down his first finished beer and picked up the second one. but he didn’t drink it. he just stared at it for a few seconds before setting it back down. it was like this usually. he’d drink the first and then he’d just set down the second, maybe with one drink out of it, and not touch it again. alcohol just didn’t appeal to him anymore. ever since he’d gotten drunk and knocked up his ex. ya that mistake had brought him the greatest thing in his life, his daughter jordis. but he never wanted to be so out of control again that he messed up that bad. so he stayed sober. one beer, very rarely two. which was what made all the storries in the papers about his drunken debauchery so funny. the latest story had been about an interview with a girl he’d apparently drunkenly assaulted. total bull. mostly because he remembered the girl in question, and if anyone could have been charged with assault it would have been her. when she litterally undid his pants and tried to jump onto him... ya just a little forward.
taking the hidden invitation denton took a second to look aurelia up and down. mentally pushing thoughts of how her grandfather would murder him if he knew from his mind denton had to admit he wouldn’t mind frisking her to find out if she did indeed have a notebook. ”darling, i’m pretty positive you’re always working to some degree.” he commented chuckling as he grabbed the second beer, and with only a moments hesitation took a drink. if he was going to be dealing with aurelia he probably shouldn’t have and should have kept his wits about him. but there was a rather large part of his brain telling him he needed to just say screw the smart way. for tonight he was just going to go with his gut. it had never steared him wrong yet. ”wouldn’t be surprised.” he replied quietly. if she pulled a notebook out from under her shirt it probably wouldn’t even give denton a second’s pause. the girl was insatiable when it came to getting her story. her grandfather had warned denton that she wouldn’t stop till she got what she was after.
viktor krum was a personal hero of denton’s, ever since he was a kid and he’d see his grandfather and viktor together reminiscing about the good ol’ days playing quiditch. denton found it extremely funny that aurelia still hadn’t relized that their families knew each other. denton remembered when she was just a little baby and his mother had forced him to go with her to the baby shower. mostly because the little pink thing that had been aurelia had screamed allot. over the years though the yaxley’s and krum’s hadn’t gotten together allot, so he could see how she wouldn’t remember. but her grandfather had been denton’s coach for years. all she would have had to do was go ask him any questions she wanted to know. except that viktor had promised denton he wouldn’t tell her anything too personal. he’d simply tell her she had to talk to denton. viktor understood the whole fame thing all to well though. he still had reporters knocking his door down for interviews or book deals.
continuing to spin aurelia around denton had to admit he was impressed the girl was keeping up. most girls had stepped on his toes, fallen over or hit themselves over the head by now. he had to keep his mind focused on the dance though, or it would have wandered away to dangerous teritory. like just how closely she was pressed up against him, and how well her hips moved to the beat. he was also ignoring what his mother kept telling him. because as much as he’d never admit it, aurelia was the exact type of girl his mother kept saying he needed to find. hearing the word ‘deal’ leave her lips denton chuckled and shook his head. ”ahh hear we come to the reason you came over.” he replied laughing. ”i told you you’re always working.” he told her before spinning her away again. this gave him a second to think over her proposition. he was pretty damn sure if he made that deal she would do everything in her power to make sure she won. and, truth be told, he wasn’t completely against letting her try. he was a guy after all. and let’s face it, she was sexy and he never could resist a girl who stood up to him.
”you’ve got yourself a deal, with one added thing.” he told her as he brought her back in. dipping her as the song ended he made sure he very slowly brought her back up before holding her against him for another second. smirking he tucked her hand into his arm and lead her back over to where his beer and her drink still was. ”if i leave without having a good time, then not only will you give up on the interview, but you’ll also agree to go to a celebratory dinner with me.” he told her. taking another drink of his beer her grinned over at her waiting for her reaction. he knew that no matter what the outcome tonight he would still make sure he seemed to leave without admitting to having a good time. there was no way he was going to give her the interview. he had more important things to protect. expecially as jordis was getting to the age where she was able to understand allot of the stuff that was written about her daddy. denton would never let jordis think less of him. it would kill him if that were to ever happen. he’d had a talk with her about how some very bad people said mean things about other people that weren’t true. but he couldn’t be sure she’d fully understood. after all she was only 5. if it came to it denton would give aurelia a fake interview. she may have been a stuborn, determined reporter. but he was just as stubborn and determined to protect his daughter.

it was thoughts like that which Aurelia needed to keep in mind because falling for Denton's charm would be far to easy. she had to keep the mindset that she was only pursuing him to do her job even if she was sure it was going to take more then one of her womanly ways to get him to actually talk to her. if she was a nasty no good reporter she could have simply skipped all the hard steps and started where she was tonight, allowing him to get close to her then dropping him when she had what she wanted. Aurelia didn't play that way though, it was dirty and not to mention mean. sure she would step on a few toes now and then to get the story she wanted but she wasn't about to use some guys heart to get a story. hearing his statement Aurelia actually smiled, a real genuine smile. "isn't everybody working to some degree? can you honestly telling me that even though your here you aren't wondering how you could improve your next game? or perhaps taking note that you leaned a little bit to much to the right in your last game and were lucky to make that last save?" was she trying to impress him? perhaps. considering as far as he knew she knew nothing about his sport. when she wanted to learn about Quidditch though she went to her father, who promptly dragged her to a game. a game that just happened to be Denton's and though she was mortified at first, her father actually taught her a lot. though Aurelia was sure he was just shocked she actually wanted to learn about Quidditch so he didn't waste any time and had talked her ear off for the entire evening.
it had been a good bonding experience and if Aurelia hadn't been so intent on watching Denton she might have actually noted how her father was only commenting on him. most of the time it was praise about how good he was and though his words had registered she never took much time to think about them. "i assure you i don't always have a notebook on me and sometimes i do actually do things just for fun." she stated, doing her best not to scowl at him. why it bothered her what he thought about her she wasn't too sure but she didn't want to give it anymore thought then it required. if any of her girl friends were there they'd back her up, unfortunately she was here alone and only had her word. she couldn't scowl at him though, because she was suppose to be proving to him that she could be fun. she needed her story and she was leaving here without some sort of guarntee that she was going to get it. it wasn't as though she wanted to know every dirty little secret about his life. okay maybe for unprofessional reasons she did but that was a bridge she wasn't going to cross. knowing that much about him would make writing about him even harder. so for the professional sense all she really wanted was a more in-depth story that he gave any other reporter. was that really too much to ask? apparently he thought so. what he had against reporters she didn't know but that would definitely be one question she would ask if she ever got the chance.
out on the dance floor with Denton it was hard for Aurelia not to loose her head a bit, not to get caught up in him. being as close as she was to him, witnessing how good he could actually dance, inhaling his enchanting aroma, it was all a bit too much for her yet she stood her ground. trying to gather her wits as she tried to go about making sure he had a good time, not really sure which approach to take. she had gathered nearly every piece of news written on him when she was assigned him. she hadn't missed the recent one about him apparently sexually assaulting a reporter but she doubted it was true. she knew the reporter in question and the shoe was probably on the other foot. Aurelia definitely didn't want to be anything like that girl so she wasn't exactly sure how direct she should be with him. second guessing her actions was something she hated. hearing Denton laugh was actual a nice sound, something she hadn't heard before tonight. usually he scowled at her and told her to get away or go learn something but it was refreshing to hear him laugh. "you have a nice laugh." it was a truthful and honest remark, but one she wasn't sure she should have made. as the song came to an end and Denton dipped her backwards it seemed as though all the air in her lungs disappeared. Aurelia could feel his entire body pressed against hers and it almost made her weak in the knees. as he brought her back up and her body remained pressed against his, she tried to compose herself hoping to merlin he hadn't noticed his affect on her. she followed him silently back to the bar and took up her seat which she was thankful she had done with his next words. pushing away her still half full glass, not needing anymore alcohol for the evening Aurelia pondered his addition.
"i think your going to do everything in your power to make sure you don't have a good time tonight. even if you do have a good time, your going to pretend like you don't." crossing her legs she turned in her stool and looked over at him. "so though i know you say we have a deal how do i know you'll actually give me a shot?" Aurelia asked him with her eyebrow raised. "so instead of your addition why don't we just leave here now and go have coffee?" it wasn't that she was a sore loser by any means, but she wasn't sure having dinner with him would be a good idea. that was more an intimate nature that a couple went on and it wasn't as though her family needed to get any ideas. "i mean, i could give you all my best stuff tonight if you'd like but i really don't want to come off like i'm trying to seduce you or assault you like other recent reporters have done." sliding down off her bar stool she moved closer to him, almost as close as their bodies had been on the dance floor. "besides, from my experience, with a little alcohol in ones system the slightest touch or caress could lead to much more and i have no intentions of winning this deal by lying on my back." no matter how much she enjoyed the feel of his body against hers. "its not like i'm asking to know all your dirty secrets Denton. all i'm asking for is to give your fans a proper story about you. one where you get the chance to tell them the truth. don't you think they deserve that?" though her eyes were on his majority of the time they occasionally slipped to his lips then back to his eyes. "or would you like the media to keep feeding them lies about you?" she asked him curiously, hoping perhaps this would drag the response she wanted out of him. purposely ignoring the fact that she hadn't moved away from him and could practically feel the heat off his body seeping into hers. omg! sorry for the length lol! she wouldn't shut up <3 credit to WILMETTA of caution 2.0 for graphics |
