fabian septimus potter
twenty one , slytherin , senior , daniel radcliffe , canon
tell us about yourself:
with potter as a surname you would immediantly think of the great harry james potter. you know the one, he's got that lightening bolt shaped scar on his forehead, wears round glasses, the chosen one, the boy who lived, saved the whole of the wizarding world from becoming shattered and taken over by he who must not be named, lord voldermort.... right? so you think of the name potter you think of this courageous person, this almost god like bloke that has the whole world in debt to him because without him you would all be pretty much buggered right now. muggleborns would have been treated worse than flobberworms and anyone that disagreed with the treatment would have probably been lucky to win a life long trip to azkaban prison.
Now imagine your whole life having been told that you look just like this so called demi god. not even simply having simularities but a carbon copy. can you imagine the complex that would be put on a child. people looking to you, expecting you to be this next big thing. after all regardless of what is happening in the world people still look to someone for hope, whether it be a higher being or a president, and for some it was this little boy. what they didn't realise of could is that although this repular couldn't be any different in their appearence (minus the glasses), personality wise they could not have been much different.
muggle rights? why would they deserve to be treated as equals when of course they were never equals to begin with. it's all part of life, evolution. it's the whole key to survival. muggles will die out long before wizards will. after all regardless of their so called invensions, many wouldn't, for example survive a neclear war and those that did would live in povety. they would have to work for their survival, something most would have no idea about because they have become used to this luxury lifestyle where they can buy things without knowing how to actually make them. wizards, who have gone beyond muggle evolution would be able to survive. they just need the smallest drop of water to create enough that they could survive on for years. the power in their magic goes beyond any sort of muggle weapon. guns and bombs are things that they have never needed because the magic they can produce is so much more complex. having a gun pointed at them would be merely laughable.
if muggle rights is so important then why are wizards still in hiding from these people? why during the era of the black death did wizards not step in and say hey! you know what, we are like these magic folk that can save your whole population from this disease, simply drink this and voila, thousands will never die! but they didn't. they stayed quiet and said nothing. and why? why because they knew that muggles wouldn't treat them as equals. centuries ago they would have been burned at the stake and i bet that some of them probably did because they were not proud enough to show who they really were. they were made to believe that being a witch or wizard was wrong, that they were the devil and needed to be sent straight to hell where they belong. even now do you really believe that wizards would be welcomed? think about it. if intelligent life from another planet came down to give it's hellos to the world would they really be welcomed? no, it would be covered up by some federal agent that goes by a stupid name and not printed in the media. there would be testing, probably worse and then the muggles would probably believe that they are advanced enough to go to war on wizards and then they would all die anyway.
not that fabian doesn't technically beleive that muggles have no place in society. should a muggle come to find that they have magical abilities he wouldn't cast them to one side but treat them as equals but the rest of them, the normal boring human beings, he feels that they are under him. honestly though it's probably due to all those muggle history books he has read. history fascinates him, always has. he was probably one of the only ones that actually stayed away during the history of magic lessons. as soon as he has finished with his studies fabian plans to take a year out before going into employment to tour the wizarding and muggle world. he plans to start in rome, a history that has intreaged him the most and then move onto greece. until then he must persist on with his day to day life in england.
fabian septimus was born 10 january at ten to midnight. he was, as most first borns tend to be, overdue. in fact he was three weeks overdue, seeming quite content in staying within his mother's stomach and having no plans to budge from his nest. this ended with his mother having to be induced, something which she wasn't too pleased about but then she wasn't pleased that she was coming onto forty three weeks pregnant either and was feeling more and more like a whale as each day passed. perhaps she was simply hoping to be able to put of the inevitable pain of childbirth, as most new mothers to be feel. one and a half days later, of terrible agony for alice, fabian septimus was born as a more than healthy nine pound baby. he was named fabian after his great grandmother molly's younger brother and septimus after his great-great grandfather. names that he disliked deeply as he got older.
as a child he was always very inquisitiveness, even as a baby he was ahead of his milestones. at two months he was grabbing his toys, attempting to put anything and everything he was given in his mouth and at three months was already rolling over and sitting up on his own for a couple of seconds. in fact it was probably the most contented time in his whole life, being doted upon by his parents twenty four seven. alice stayed at home looking after their son mostly. however when work would insist that she came in fabian septimus would either be looked after by his father or grandparents. he was a rather happy child, due to the largeness of his family he was more than happy to be passed around from person to person without a cry. however the attention he received during the day rather got to his head as whenever he was put down the attention cries would start. these could go on into the night if he wasn't being held or fussed over. many a time he had to be in the same bed as parents or else they would become very sleep deprived.
at just over two years of age the potter family were blessed with another son, or at least everyone else other than fabian septimus thought it to be a blessing. fabian, who was more than content, being the only child hated it and as much as a two year old can, hated his little brother. he would scream when his brother cried or receiving getting more attention than him. of course his parents tried to keep fabian involved as much as possible, asking his to pass clean nappies and assisting in picking out clothing but still he flatly refused to have anything to do to him. he was quite the little bully to brother, insisting that he wasn't his little brother and even once trying to throw him down the stairs. his parents were at their wits end about him and he had to be on constant watch around his little brother. in fact it got so much for his parents that sometimes they would pass him on to other family members to look after so they could have some sort of a rest. of course this treatment just made fabian feel even more rescentful against his brother feeling like he was taking his parents away from him.
of course as he got older he came to understand that in fact his brothers mission in life wasn't simply to take away albus and alice but that he was just a dumb baby that had no idea what was going on. it wasn't his fault, he never had the say who his parents were. so fabian grew to, not exactly like his brother, but to accept him for who he was. perhaps deep down there was also some sort of love for this boy, although he never really showed it. in all honesty though his parents were just glad that he was no longer trying to injure their youngest and so, put aside as the usual elder sibling jealously, plus fabian being so young, it was nearly forgotten about. the one plus of fabian being passed from family member to another is that he found himself becoming quite close to his cousins, aunties and uncles. of course their family was so vast in size it often confused him but he was sure he wasn't the only one.
growing up fabian would never have been described as the golden child. he was always wandering off to do his own thing, sometimes his parents would send out a search party for him and he would turn up back home an hour later covered in mud and convincing his parents he had been in his room the whole time. as a kid he was never very good liar. in the end his parents stopped worrying, knowing that he would in the end return but to save their concerns they bought him a bull terrier in the hope he would protect him. no such luck really because he turned out to be nothing more than an animal that constantly craved attention from any human being it came into contact with but at least the dog looked looked intimidating.
his first real signs of magic came when he was eight years old. a muggle child that was deemed the town bully by those of his age had taken a liking to fabian's first childhood crush. of course at the time he could have sworn that it was completely in love with and would forever be mine. not that the girl was actually aware of this as fabian was always very shy around the opposite sex as a child. in fact she probably wasn't even aware of his existence. that was something fabian always wondered, if nobody was even aware that you exsisted did that mean that you didn't actual exsist at all? of course there was a lot of things wrong with that question, for example someone would have to feed you as a child or else you would never survive. human babies are the only animal in this world that is completely defenceless. however if somehow you did manage to survive it was something he pondered upon. either way this muggle bully caught on to the fact that fabian was factuated by this girl. something he found amusing and told fabian that if he didn't tell her that he liked her then he would tell her all sorts of rumours of him, ones that fabian didn't exactly understand (he was after all younger than the boy and still innocent in mind) but he was sure they weren't good. so fabian went up to the girl who, to his suprise, didn't seem at all suprised or concerned that this little boy was coming up to her, shaking with complete fear. she agreed to think about it, not wanting to be mean to the boy seeing as he was younger than her.
the next day the bully approached him, saying that she had agreed to meet him in the local woods. excited fabian had dressed in his best sunday dress and picked flowers for the girl. at the exact time the boy had said he was waiting within the wooded area. then he heard a girl and a boy laughing, fabian turned and followed the noise only to find the two deep in embrace with each other. all he could see was red, or at least that is the saying but in reality fabian remembered feeling nothing by rage run through every milimeter of his body and then.... nothing. the next thing he remembers was an older men bent over him wearing bring purple robes, pale white and looking extreemly concerned. he was talking with his parents and fabian was sitting in an office that he did not know where. every now and again they would look at the boy, his mother had tears in her eyes and his father couldn't keep eye contact with his eldest son. fabian was so confused, he had no idea what was or had happened. then he heard his name spoken from a very small voice, it was his little brother, holding up his lolly to him. "it'll make it better" that was the first time fabian had ever given a genuine smile to his sibling. he never asked his parents what happened and they never spoke of it. to this day he has no idea what happened but he did overhear his mother speaking to his grandfather one day when they thought he was in the garden. she said something about hospitalised, a psychiatric unit, magic that couldn't be controlled and the ministry keeping it under wraps. he never did she the girl or the bully again.
when it came for him to go to hogwarts the recentment to his younger brother returned. he didn't particularly want to go into education although through childhood he had proved himself to be a very intelligent child. his parents insisted that he would love hogwarts, his father explained how nervous he was when it was his first year but that he really enjoyed every moment of his schooling. he laughed about the fact that fabian's uncle james had joked with him about ending up in slytherin house. of course both his parents ended up in gryffindor. he said this as if he thought it would help his eldest but in all honesty he didn't want to be in gryffindor because he didn't feel like he belonged there. he couldn't exactly explain why but he had always felt a little different from his family members. the moment he got on the train people stared at him, whispering and this made fabian feel uneasy. the fact that he was a carbon copy of his grandfather had never exactly clicked until he meet other people that of course knew exactly what harry potter looked liked through various portraits, magazines, newspapers and books. he was one of the biggest celebrities in the wizarding world and although fabian didn't admire his grandfather for what he had achieved he did feel that luck had a hell of a lot to do with it. at times he wanted to hide away from the fact he was a potter but with his face he never stood a chance.
when he stood in the great hall surrounded by the students of hogwarts he hated the look that most of the professors were giving him. they looked almost proud, admiring, like he was set to do great things in his life. as far as fabian was concerned they would not have given those same looks to others of his family that shared his surname, it was only due to his appearance. he lost count the amount of students that came up to him saying, "your a potter aren't you? you look just like harry!" even those in the slytherin house were already making snide comments behind their hands to each other at him, speaking in harsh whispers. he even had annoying kids trying to stand up for him against the remarks, those that he would never be seen dead hanging around with. honestly he just wanted a hole to open up in the under carriage of the train and suck him through it. when his name was called people stared, or at least it felt like everyone was staring even though fabian did not turn to look. he kept his eyes firmly to the floor as he took those first steps up towards the sorting hat. part of him wished his life had stopped at that very second because what happened next was the biggest turn his life had ever taken.
fabian didn't tell his parent that he had made slytherin. they wrote to him a dozen times asking what house he was in and even one member of his family sent a card with a large lion head on the front. albus and alice had to hear the news from one of his cousins and even his grandfather came to the school to talk to him. he remembered seeing him walk into the great hall as he sat on the slytherin table. not one of his fellow house mates had talked to him, regardless of sharing the same house they still felt strongly that he shouldn't be there. fabian had never hated his grandfather more than when he walked in. never hated his family name or even his own face as much as he did now. harry explained to him that there was no shame in being a slytherin, came out with that grand story about how a slytherin he had known had been the bravest man he had ever met. he even shared the fact that he had nearly been placed into slytherin. honestly fabian couldn't care less and due to that meeting it meant that he was a complete outcast from any of the slytherin house. the only people that he could talk to were his family and even they seem a little wary of him.
hogwarts was not the greatest years of his life. in fact for a good part of them they were a very lonely life. he hated the sport quidditch, something his whole family loved with a passion and during quidditch games he used the time to explore hogwarts castle, especially as it was so empty. he made the shrieking shack his own personally little hidden hove from the world outside. studying was all he could do. of course fabian received excellent grades, was one of the top students of his year but never participated in class. he kept himself to himself and found that if he tried to keep himself as unnoticeable as possible people wouldn't keep coming up to him, remarking on his appearance and then questioning the house that he was in. he wrote to his family regularly, saying how much he was loving being at hogwarts, how he had made so many friends and everyone was super nice. of course these were all lies but whether his parents no longer knew what to do or bought into his lies, his letters were never questioned. he supposed that as long as he was doing well in his studies he had plenty of time later in life for friends or even girls.
