oh. hell. no. this wasn't happening. in no way, shape or form was she looking at the mark on her paper. she couldn't even comprehend it. even for sawbridge, this was a new low. so she understood that he had his favourites. she understood that she was never going to do as well as those favourites in his class. but he couldn't fail her, when she knew that everything she had put in here was correct. hell, she'd written some of the other students god damn paper, and they'd all passed. as she sat in the potions class, watching the stupid maggot up there with his stupid greasy hair go on about how high and superior he was she couldn't help but feel the anger bubbling and brewing inside her. how dare he. how dare he... tihs was just surreal. she had never, ever got anything below the standard 'a' when it came to grades. and even then, when she got those damn acceptables, she felt as though she may as well have gotten a t. but to actually get a d, it was a kick in the stomach. no, worse than that. he may as well have taken a knife and sliced through her stomach. that would've been preferrable to a d. yeah, okay, so she may have been over-reacting a little. but this was a big deal to soraya. her grades were the only thing that set soraya apart from her brothers, both who were brave, smart, good looking... and then there was soraya. the youngest. the ravenclaw. the odd one out. and now, she was stuck here thinking about what her new claim to fame in the lupin household was going to be. the blonde one? the attention seeker? god, she had to learn how to keep her mouth shut.
trying her hardest not to stand up and scream at the professor, she waited until class was dismissed before taking her now scrunched up test paper down to the front of the room where the professor was sitting, a smug look on his arrogant face. glaring at him, she approached the desk where he was sitting so calmly, and serenly. almost like this was a joke. god, it would be to him. he was as bad as rosier. slamming the paper down in front of him, soraya didn't even bother to check that everyone was out of the room before letting him have. "what. the hell. is this?!" she demanded, her voice rising and becoming more hysterical. "you know full well i deserve better than a d... what the hell is wrong with you? do you not have a shred of professional integrity?" she demanded, her eyes flashing with anger. the smug look on his face didn't leave for a second. fucking pig. as each second ticked on, she was becoming more and more convinced that he had done it on purpose, just to get her in more trouble or something. god damn slytherin, they ruined everything. even their smarmy leader, he was the worst of all of them. "well?!" she asked, her fingernails now digging so deep into her palms from how hard her fists were clenched. she shouldn't be getting this angry, but he didn't even realise what he was doing. he was screwing up her life, because he felt like it. to get revenge. he had no idea what her grades meant to her, and he had the balls to do this anyway. god, she hated him. she hated him so, so much.
i lied, here's the post. it's pretty bad, but not terrible for like, 20 minutes lol. |

hugh sawbridge was looking at the results of his recent test. having managed to get his class silent and focused on the task in hand he had decided that this would be a good opportunity to reflect on how well his students were doing. his eyes scanned the o’s that were by the names of most slytherins and then his eyes rested on one particular grade from one particular girl. yes he had given a d to soraya lupin. she had only been his student for a little while and to be honest her effort so far was a little disappointing. if hugh had been a little kinder he would have given her the grade above but her essay wasn’t that great and he wanted to teach the little lupin a lesson. he wanted to not only teach her that hard work paid off but also to respect her elders. hugh and soraya hadn’t got off to the best of starts. when hugh had been punishing a student by taking off house points the young blonde girl had stood up and called him a git. that was bad enough but when she had proceeded to argue with him hugh had kicked her out. of course he did, the stupid insolent child.
standing up, hugh walked casually round to the front of her desk, leaning against it, crossing his arms over his body. “I think that should be enough time for you to research the making of armortentia, a potion some of you will have to use when your old and alone.” this joke was met by laughs from the slytherin students and some of his other students but he didn’t expect the others to have any sort of good sense of humour. it wasn’t that hugh hated the other houses but it was definitely slytherin who showed a natural talent to potions so of course he was going to more favourable to them, especially when ravenclaw had students like miss lupin in them. and despite the fact he had a slight dislike towards muggleborns, he never showed it. he was much too professional for that. it was normally students who weren’t doing very well making accusations that hugh was showing favouritism but when there had been investigations that the grades he had given them were mostly fair. then again the other professors had no idea what they were looking for when they marked students potions work because their knowledge wasn’t as extensive as hugh’s. as hugh looked over the students he spotted soraya in the corner of his eye and his smile spread slightly at the look on her face. she obviously wasn’t very satisfied with her grade and that pleased hugh slightly. that would teach her that she can’t just easily pass this class as well as the fact that she really shouldn’t mess with hugh because he could easily ruin her life. he had tried to remain professional in this situation but this girl was really really starting to annoy him and he had to do something about it. he would not be walked over. especially by a female ravenclaw.
hugh dismissed the class and proceeded to sit behind him desk, picking up a pen and getting some papers that needed to be marked. he was half aware of someone approaching his desk so when some papers were slammed on his desk he didn’t even flinch and didn’t even bother to look up. as she shouted at him he calmly continued to mark the papers in front of him, waiting until she’d completely finished before deciding to speak. “well miss lupin if it’s any consolation you were very close to the next grade up. if you’d just constructed your sentences a bit better you may have gotton up to an a. don’t look at this as a fail. more as an incentive to do better next time. at least you can’t do much worse right?” he said calmly, only now looking up for the first time since she’d approached his desk. he was purposefully remaining calm so if she decided to complain about him he could at least explain that he had given her some constructive criticism and told her how she could improve next time. what could hugh do. it hadn’t been a great essay. It wasn’t the worst he’d ever seen but it definitely wanted worth anything close to an o. “look. you’re content was good but it wasn’t worded well so it didn’t really make much sense. next time i suggest reading over you’re work before you hand it into me ok?” he said slowly, now not looking away from her. after a few seconds he turned to get her essay out. “I have circled the things that didn’t really make sense. I hope this is useful for you.”

She wasn’t even going to lie, being brought up with two older brothers had sort of made her aware of the whole thing. She had hated it, too. As soon as she was old enough to realise what it was, she had taken quite a strong moral stand against it, and she was proud to say that this had stuck with her for her entire life. She stuck up for the kids that wouldn’t stick up for themselves, and she was proud of it. But she was most proud that she wasn’t afraid to back down to any bully; especially not an overgrown, slimy git who lacked professionalism and taste. She had heard the stories of Sawbridge’s favouritism, all of the students had. Of course, the Slytherin’s denied it, saying that the other houses just didn’t understand his work, his genius. Even in her freshman year Soraya doubted that a teacher could be so judgemental, or unprofessional. But being in the class, it was easy to see that the rumours weren’t far off. The awful things he would imply about the other houses, the sly comments he made at other student’s expense. Soraya had to wonder how such a dumbass had a job at the university, let alone a head of house position. It was almost laughable. He was obviously someone who had little excitement in his personal life, and someone who needed people to pick on to make himself feel big. Despite all this, though, she knew that this mark was just another form of bullying, a way of him asserting his dominance. The mark practically screamed ‘I’m the teacher, you’re the student, deal with it.’ She could freely admit that her essay hadn’t been the greatest in this particular instance, she knew that it wasn’t actually that great. But it wasn’t worth a ‘D’. It was… It was like giving Einstein a ‘Good work’ sticker! This was just bullying. And it was something that Soraya wasn’t going to stand for.
However, as she waited for the class to end, she had to seriously consider how she was going to approach him from this point on. She probably couldn’t be as straight forward as she would be with someone who was more on her level… She wasn’t naïve, and was well aware that if she pushed her teacher she would probably end up in the head chancellors office or something. but as she approached his desk once the class was finally dismissed he didn't even look up. that was just rude. how could he command respect if he wasn't even going to show respect. he was such a slytherin. closing her eyes as she tried to summon all of the potential calm and dignity she had left in her, she counted to ten in her head before adressing the all-to-calm and smug voice of her professor. "you know, professor sawbridge, it's not much of a consolation.” She started, cutting herself off before she said something that she knew she’d regret. This was just… Unbelievable, even from the head snake. It was… disgusting. How could it not make sense? She couldn’t even comprehend words when he told her the essay didn’t make sense. How could it not make sense? Glaring at him, she snatched the essay from him before flipping through some of the pages, looking for where he had ‘highlighted her mistakes.’ While she spotted some legitimate mistakes, some of them couldn’t possibly pass a reasons to be marked down. ”And you did this for every student, or am I special?” She asked, her eyes on fire. She couldn’t believe this. Putting the essay back on the table, she looked at the professor for a few more moments, in a state of shock. After a moment, she shook her head. ”You know, you’re unbelievable. I don’t even care that I got marked down that much, but the fact that you’d be so unprofessional. How many other students have you done this too? Are you really that deluded to think that your Slytherin’s are that much better than everyone else? Or are you just that spiteful and pathetic that you need to punish everyone else with a brain?” As soon as she stopped, Soraya knew she had probably gone too far. She was probably going to be looking at a T for this essay, a few detentions. Who knew? But he was being a bully. And Soraya Lupin didn’t take to well to bullies.
sorry for the wait love! and sorry for the awful things i wrote in there 0.o i love them <3 |
