need you nowpicture perfect memories scattered all around the floor. reaching for the phone cause i can't fight it anymore. and i wonder if i ever cross your mind. for me it happens all the time. “ son of a grindylow!”if you had asked soraya lupin how she had been feeling today, you would’ve got quite a generic answer. ‘oh, i’m fine. thanks for asking.’ while it wasn't too far from the truth, anyone could see that it wasn't exactly the honest to god truth either. you could tell, because soraya was currently sitting in the courtyard of the university campus, kicking off her shoe and had an extremely annoyed look on her face. it almost made you wonder; why was she so upset? who was she screaming abrasive terms too? and what the hell did she kick, as the courtyard was pretty much foolproof? but many people seemed to simply be giving her concerned looks as they left her to sit on the ground, examining the shoeless foot, not really sure they wanted to get involved in a part-veela's fit of rage. there had been nothing exceptional about soraya's day. well, except that one thing. but we'll get to that later. see, it was saturday today. instead of studying, soraya was planning on going into hogsmeade and diagon alley- she was running low on quills and parchment, and to be honest, she could do with some new clothes. so she'd turned off her alarm, but didn't think about the potential. alas, she had missed breakfast, and now had to hang around for lunch, since it was at a cheaper price on campus than in town and would give her the chance to coax elias or someone into coming into town with her. throwing on a cute pink dress and a nice jacket, soraya made her way through the campus, towards the campus, listening to the murmers of people in the hallways and whatnot. one particular conversation caught her ear in particular. |
[/i][/blockquote][/ul] well, it didn't take a long time for soraya to work out what the annonymous girls were talking about. instantly feeling ashamed, angry and cold, soraya turned on her heel and began to walk to the courtyard, through for a shortcut to the gate so she could just leave faster. she walked briskly, a look of determination and fustration etched on her face. they feel sorry for me. she thought bitterly as she pushed her way through a group of freshman who were, frankly, in her way. the feel sorry because my boyfriend is contracting herpes off that whore. frankly, it wasn't the thought of him cheating that had her so upset. no, it was the fact he hadn't been honest with her. if only he had just come to her.. said something... her thoughts were interrupted as her foot connected with a solid bench, causing her to instantly stop as the pain contracted in her forehead. instantly dropping to the ground, she cried out and began to take off her shoe, as to inspect the damage. in her anger, she didn't even think to use magic. but then again, her thoughts were a little preoccupied right now. her and elias's relationship was far from functional, she could accept that. she could accept that, despite her own loyalty and obvious devotion to him (despite his sometimes fustratingly narrow views and unintelligble conversation) he classed their relationship as 'open' so that he could sleep with the likes of zambini and other whores that grabbed his attention. she could accept that sometimes, she had to simplify sentences or whatever around him because he didn't understand. but what she couldn't accept, under any circumstances, was dishonesty. she didn't want to be felt sorry for by girls she had never met. she didn't want to find out that her boyfriend was banging someone else, from someone else. all she had ever asked for from him was, well, to be honest. after all, she was always honest around him. was it too much for someone to just return the favour? she guessed that her bad mood wasn't in anyway eleviated by toby spilling the beans about him and harper greyback, either. for some reason, she had always seen toby as just hers, someone she could run and cry too, someone who was, well, just hers. of course, he was allowed other friends and what not, but there was something special about their relationship. or, well, that's what she thought, anyway. but aparently, she was just as unspecial to him as she was to elias, which kind of hurt. it felt like no one wantd her, and she was just left, cold and alone with a throbbing foot. she didn't want to be pitied, to be felt sorry for. what she wanted, she thought as involuntary tears of fustration and pain from her foot, was to get away from this god-damned school and for her foot to stop hurting. now was that too much to ask?! as she sat on the ground, rubbing her foot, she slowly became aware of the familiar figure coming towards her. she almost groaned. she didn't want people to see her crying now! this was just the icing on the cake, and she wasn't keen to have a bar of it. narrowing her eyes in such a way that screamed the phrase the was dying to ask; 'come to laugh at poor little soraya too, have you?'. "howdy." she said, the casual and indifferent tone contradicting her facial expression. "care to lend a brother a hand?'" she asked, indicating to her foot, which was swollen and changing colours at quite an alarming pace. well, if they were going to stay, they may as well make themselves useful. hey, have you heard of my religion? it's called the church of hot addiction for all that eli was a complete asshole, there were people that he cared about. maverick was someone that he'd had a sort of hero-worship for for as long as he could remember, even if he wouldn't admit it in so many words. nyla was ridiculous at times, but she was his sister and there was nothing she could do which could make him hate her. not that he'd hate her for being ridiculous, but he couldn't help but worry about her, despite her being the eldest and him being the youngest of their full siblings. and then there was the two most important girls in his life; lydia and soraya. a ravenclaw and a slytherin; one he'd known since, well, it seemed like forever, the other that he was dating. they were two girls that he was determined not to have to choose between, but it was rapidly becoming more obvious that he might have to soon. they seemed to be hating each other more and more lately; lydia, for some unknown reason, decided that she hated blondes, and she was convinced that soraya was worthy of her hatred as a result. soraya thought that lydia was a slut, which eli hated being used as an insult in the first place, let alone against someone that he was so close to. he just wanted them to fucking get along, for fuck's sake. why was that something that was so difficult for the two of them? apart from lydia's pureblood insanity, the thing was that they weren't that unalike. they weren't the same person, sure, but both were quick and intelligent and they could probably have some good discussions if they could get over themselves. it was just... ridiculous. he didn't know why he bothered, really, but it still annoyed the shit out of him.
it had been annoying him a lot more lately; today, especially, it was pissing him off to no end. he wanted to spend time with both of them today, and it would have been even better if he could have spent time with both of them at the same time. but of course not. he wasn't allowed to do that. the thought made him so fucking ragey, especially with the way that training had gone last night. ryder had been the worst choice for captain that eli could think of, and it had just been... well, painful. hufflepuffs might be as, a general rule, sweet (of course, eli was the exception to this rule and proud) but the lack of organisation last night had been because of that. everyone had just wanted to chat about the party that night and eli had just wanted to fucking fly. of course, he was going to the party; or at least, he'd had the plans to, maybe pick up someone to go home with, but the bad mood that he had been in had put an end to that. fuck. these past two days had pissed him off. he had had to study too much, and just... everything kind of sucked. he needed to just... get into a better mood. that was kind of the reason that he wanted to see soraya; she could normally put him in a good mood, or at least closer than he had been at the start. he'd pretty much been looking at her all morning, and hadn't been successful yet. she hadn't been in the library or at breakfast, which was unusual, and he wasn't about to go to her dorm unannounced. the last time he'd been there a pretty brunette had tried to kick him in the balls, which hadn't been the most pleasant experience in the world. so he was left wandering around the university, waiting for her to kind of pop out from somewhere so they could spend time together.
where he had eventually found her had been unexpected; in the court yard, swearing and on the ground without one of her shoes. well, there went one of the chances of him getting in a better mood, and (even though he wouldn't like to admit it) he briefly considered turning around and running away before he was spotted by her. he decided against that, though, because he wasn't allowed to be an asshole when it came to soraya. she was his girlfriend, after all. and there was a reason that she was. of course, that was probably unrelated to the reason that she had just kicked a bench made out of stone and was swearing viciously, but there was still a reason for it. sighing, he started to walk towards her and forced the usual cocky smile onto his face, no matter how much he didn't want to. raising an eyebrow at her, he shook his head. "i'm fairly certain you aren't a brother, and if you secretly are, you've done a fucking awesome job of hiding it from me for two years," he pointed out, but sat down next to her anyway. "babe, what did you do?" after a few moments, he pulled his wand out and physically shifted her so she was sitting half in his lap, tugging her foot towards them. after a few moments of cursory inspection, he started to murmur the healing spells which would hopefully stop the purpling and start to heal the damaged flesh. once he was done, he looked at her closely, kissing her on the cheek. "don't move it, it's still healing. wanna tell me why you decided to try kickboxing with a bench?"

need you nowpicture perfect memories scattered all around the floor. reaching for the phone cause i can't fight it anymore. and i wonder if i ever cross your mind. for me it happens all the time. she remembered the first time she had ever even seen elias rowle. it had been at hogwarts, in the great hall a few days after sorting. she remembered watching the unusually rude hufflepuff interact with a few other students, seemingly oblivious to her attention. one of her brothers caught her watching him, and in his superior and 'amused' voice, he explained who he was. "eli rowles, right? yeah, he's one of ten. quite a manwhore aparently, and kinda lost in a big family. but, he's in hufflepuff right? they're not just known for their finding, so there must be some good in there somewhere." this kind of sparked her interest a little more. after that, she began to notice him more around the place. she wasn't going to lie, he had caught her eye right from the very beginning, and to be honest she wasn't entirely sure on how she felt about what she saw. during their 'ravenclaw/hufflepuff' classes that seemed to be in abundance in the first few years of hogwarts anyway, soraya would notice the way that girls were drawn to him, despite his obvious disrespect and non-commital attitude. the way that he interacted with his friends, the people he disliked. it was a strange combination of feelings she felt when it came to elias rowle, a strange mixture of discontempt and admiration. and as they gradually proceeded into becoming friends, fuck buddies and then in a relationship, her thoughts and feelings surrounding him changed, from disappointment to love. and there was always the even stranger thought that she couldn't wrap her head around; she couldn't live without him. and because of this, she had to accept him the way he was.
right from the beginning and her brothers initial warning, as well as knowing elias for as long as she had, soraya knew that there had never been any point in trying to force him into an monogamous relationship. aside from the fact that she didn't really believe in them either, when she started dating him, she had been well aware that he was going to sleep around. and although it kind of bothered her to begin with, she had gotten used to it relitively quickly. as long as he was honest with her, she didn't care. and as long as he didn't fall in love with any of them, she didn't care either. because, as much as she sometimes hated to admit this, she really loved eli. they'd been together for two years, been friends for a bit longer than that. and it wasn't like she was with him for the 'lols' or anything either. she genuinely liked being his girlfriend, and knowing that at the end of the day, it didn't matter how many girls he went away and slept with, he always came back to her. but you'd have to be blind to miss the looks that he'd give her when he thought neither girl was looking, and even blinder to miss the signs she was giving off. even if they couldn't admit it to themselves or each other, soraya knew that they wanted to be together. and she was slowly beginning to suspect that her involvement in this love triangle was somehow to break the tension in the situation. whether this was true or not was kinda irrelevant, but she didn't like to be played. that's why the rule 'always be honest' came up in thier relationship. she didn't like lies, dancing around the truth or whatever else you wanted to call it. it was because of this that she couldn't like lydia, no matter how much it meant to elias. she would do anything else for him, no matter what it was, as long as it didn't involve being nice to zambini. and all because, as far as she was concerned, lydia was a lying and manipulative bitch. and definitely not worth her time, even if it did mean a lot to elias. after all, there were ways of making it up to him. just no ways of saying sorry if she was to rip the girls hair or eyes out.
sighing as he came and nearer to her, she looked up and raised an eyebrow. "underneath all of this, i'm a brother." she said solemnly, her voice lightening a little though. he just had that effect on her, and as much as she hated it, it was kind of nice. she didn't like being angry at him, regardless of what had made her angry in the first place. as he sat down next to her, she allowed herself to be moved and silently cursed herself when she saw him use his wand. 'i totally could've done that' she thought as she watched him murmer spells and felt a nice warm feeling spreading through her foot. she looked at him, a weak smile spreading on her face. "thanks... i don't know why i didn't do that earlier..." she said, her eyes downcast as she felt his lips on her face. closing her eyes a little until he retreated, she looked at him, the cold iciness slowly melting in his presence. damn him and his elias-ness. "well, seeing as i'm so freaking epic, i knew i could win. i bet that bench won't be trying anything again." she said, unwilling to offer up her reasons for being angry. it seemed irrational now, and besides, he'd just been really nice to her, which was something she didn't really deserve considering how she'd just been thinking about him. she looked at him intensely for a second, recognising that he wasn't in a particularly good mood either. "what's up, baby?" she asked, wondering whether he'd be honest with her or not. it seemed strange to be worrying about such a thing considering she'd just avoided the truth nicely, but still. she'd like to help. or try to. because that's what good girlfriends did.

hey, have you heard of my religion? it's called the church of hot addiction eli couldn't help but feel good things towards soraya, even if he was frustrated with everything else that was going on. even if he had the feeling that she was hiding something. even if everything might have been going wrong, he really did want things to work well with her. he cared a lot about her and wanted her to be happy; people often called him an asshole, but with soraya and with his family, he wasn't. with lydia, he wasn't. he was capable of being not, he just... didn't think that there were many people that were worth putting that effort out for. people earned that, they weren't born with it, and there were very few people who had managed to earn that in the time that eli had been alive. he tried to push his emotions to the side completely, though that wasn't too hard since she had managed to distract him already. that was why he had come to look for her, after all, because she was the best at distracting him from the negatives that he felt, even if the negatives weren't as often felt by eli as they were by other people. it was just today in particular that was kind of sucking. the sort of sucking that involved teeth, not the nice sucking. right, he had to stop thinking too much about that, because as shitty as his feelings had been, that was probably a way to get himself slapped, even if she was his girlfriend. again, he might have been an asshole, but he knew women – and he knew soraya better than he knew most women. possibly all women; but he didn't really want to go and rank the women in his family and lydia and soraya in comparison to each other. they were all just too important to him.
raising an eyebrow at her, he shook his head a little at her ridiculous solemn voice. how she was so insane and so smart and so... everything... he wasn't really sure. she was unique and he was lucky to have her, whether he said it out loud enough or not. maybe he should have been saying that more often, but he had other things that were in front of him at the moment – like the fact that his completely bloody insane girlfriend had just gone and tried to get into a fight with a large heavy object that was most obviously going to win? maybe that was why she was doing wandmaking as her major and not something that required any amount of logic whatsoever. that being said, she was a ravenclaw, so she was meant to have some, but... well, she certainly didn't seem to at the moment. "well, you know, i'm cool with being with a brother, but that might have been something you should have told me two years ago so i didn't get into something i wasn't ready for," he decided to let her have her moment of insanity, because he didn't think he was going to be able to head that off any time soon. besides, indulging soraya was a good thing, wasn't it? it was what he was meant to do as her boyfriend? or something. he wasn't up to working that shit out at the moment, anyway. shrugging a shoulder, he squeezed at her arm gently, smiling at her in that mix of genuine and cockiness that so defined him. "leaving it to me was probably a good thing, anyway. you might understand what goes on inside the wand much better than me, but if i'm not better at healing spells than you, i might be in a bit of trouble." not that he'd be particularly surprised if she was, but it would essentially mean he was fucked for his major.
snorting, he gave her an incredulous look at her assertion. there was no fucking way that he was letting her get away with that, because he had his own anger issues sometimes, and he didn't go and try to take them out on a bench, because he wasn't an idiot. on the idiot scale, though, he ranked much higher than her, because she was pretty much the smartest person that he knew. it was ridiculous at times, how smart she could be, and she'd kicked a fucking bench. things weren't adding up. "yeah, i'm pretty sure that you know as well as i do that scores on the epic scale doesn't translate into the ability to put your foot through a fucking marble bench. you wanna run that by me again?" he said, rubbing at her upper arm in an effort to soften the blow of the fact that he was obviously disbelieving the bullshit that she was feeding him. while they were focused on that, or at least, while he was focused on that, he wasn't going to let his own worries about... everything... come into the picture, so he just shrugged and gave her a little smile, that was filled with far less eli than normal. "you tell me yours, and when you're done, i'll tell you mine. or, you know, your foot will be healed enough that we can walk and get off this bloody campus and to somewhere that has far less insanity and dickwads in it." rich coming from eli, maybe, but there really wasn't any other way to describe ryder norton, in his eyes.

need you nowpicture perfect memories scattered all around the floor. reaching for the phone cause i can't fight it anymore. and i wonder if i ever cross your mind. for me it happens all the time. Two years was a long time to spend with someone. Regardless of the exclusivity or ins and outs of the relationship, it was a long time. It was kind of nice that she had someone there who would come back to her at the end of the day, someone who was willing to make some form of commitment to her; commitment in its loosest sense of the word but commitment none-the-less. And despite the dull sense of anger and tiredness that was throbbing within her at the moment, she couldn’t help but look back on their memories with fond feelings. She knew that there were more sides to Eli than what everyone else thought and saw; she knew what people thought about him. She was well aware that people thought he was nothing more than a user, an asshole, someone who was only interested in himself. Soraya was proud to know that there was more to him than that, and there were so many times that Eli had proved himself to be more than that. They had so many memories together, so many fun times they had shared. And as she sat there, half on his lap, his arms around her, she realised that that was really all that mattered when it came to their relationship. She could accept the sleeping around, and she could accept that he had…. feelings for Lydia. As long as Eli would continue to be there for her, and show her there was more to him that what everyone else said there was, then their relationship could work.
Soraya had always been a quirky person. Or, a person who said strange things when caught in an undesirable situations. She remembered one time when Corvin had convinced her it would be a good idea to stand on his shoulders to get the biscuit jar off the top out of the fridge. Instead of acquiring two biscuits for her and her older cousin, she fell off his shoulders, and into a big bag of flour that was lying nearby. Well there was no way of hiding that, but instead of coming out and telling her aunt the truth, Soraya simply said ”I was feeling to tanned.” Eli would call it insanity, but for Soraya it was normal. She liked to think it was one of her better points however, one of the things that just made her ‘more exciting’ or something. Looking at her boyfriend, she smiled a little before laughing. ”Wouldn’t you love me if I was a brother, Eli?” She asked, her eyes shining brightly. Even if he did think she was absolutely barking mad, she loved these moments with him. She leaned her head on his shoulder after he shrugged it, laughing at his comment. ”A bit cocky, aren’t we?” She said with a laugh, before wrapping her arms around him and hugging him for a second. ”But your much better at healing than me. I tried to heal a cut on celeste last week, and I think I made it worse. I definitely wouldn’t trust myself.” She admitted, mumbling a little. Soraya didn’t do so well when admitting her mistakes, hence the involuntary mumbling. But she was proud of Eli, he was a wonderful healer. Since Soraya herself was terrible at it, she was glad that he excelled in it. It meant they were in completely different classes, were never in competition with each other. Besides, Soraya had some ‘blonde’ moments when she wasn’t concentrating, so she was definitely glad that she had Elias around to fix her up if she ever needed it.
Lifting her head up from his shoulder as he snorted, giving him her own incredulous look in return. She thought he might’ve worked out it had been something of an accident. No one, not even someone as freaking epic as her, was epic enough to take on the campus benches. She honestly didn’t know what to tell him. It was just like the incident with Aunt Dom again; faced with a situation where the truth would be the easiest option, but she’d be damned if she would spill. She just didn’t know what would warrant her storming into a bench. Deciding that there wasn’t really much to tell without putting the jealous girlfriend hat on, Soraya shrugged and looked at him hopefully. ”Ahh, but the epic scale 2.0 came out last weekend. Didn’t you see it? Marble bench breaking and epicness are directly correlational now.” She said, grinning, knowing that this probably wasn’t going to help. But as he rubbed her arm and smiled at her, while giving her a chance to talk, she couldn’t help but sigh a little. Why was it that the times she was trying to be stubborn and stay mad at him, he would turn around and act all gentlemanly (well, for Eli) and kind? ”Well… you know. Same shit, different day.” She offered as a means of an explanation, looking at him. ”I’m just kind of… Fed up, you know? Of this place, the people here… I don’t know.” She trailed off, her mind racing ahead of her words. When she caught up with herself, she looked back at Eli. ”If you wanted to escape so badly, you should’ve just piggy-backed me out.” She said with a grin, distracting herself from her own thoughts. ”Dickwads… Oh, did you have practice today?” She asked, a smile playing on her features.
