Adalynn Goyle was one thing that Quinn had never been able to have for his own, no matter how much effort he put into it. however, it probably didn't help matters any when considering the fact that Ada was his sister's best friend. and, as known by any brother in the history of the world, that territory was strictly forbidden. in other words, he'd be abusing his sister's trust: something that even Quinn Harper wasn't about to do. if he hadn't done so already, anyway. but he couldn't be to blame, honestly... he had been raised not to care about other people's feelings. it was the primary reason why he and ellery were.... semi-close. it was impossible to be ellery's best friend, but he could tell that the two of them were on better terms than any of the other harper siblings. and that was a weird thing to say, considering that Celeste was Ellery's twin. Quinton believed mind, body, and soul that Marley was the closest friend he had. she knew absolutely everything about him, including everything that he preferred that no one else knew. the only secret he had ever kept from Marley was his as he moved through the crowd that filled the hallways of the university, Quinn glanced through the window towards the sidewalk that he would soon take back to his dormitory. ironic as it was, he frequently ran into Adalynn on his way back from class. it was something he usually looked forward to, but today was a different story entirely. he had a date tonight, and he couldn't afford feeling guilty about... being himself, really. he couldn't deal with feeling bad about dating other girls. it was what he was supposed to do, given the current situation. sure, he had a crush on Ada, but what could he do about it? nothing. absolutely nothing. the only thing Quinn had left to do was go about his daily activities, which included what he had planned tonight. if Adalynn found out and couldn't handle that, then.... unfortunately, she would have to move on. which is what they both needed to do, anyway. it didn't matter how they felt about each other. that was, if Ada even felt that way about him, they couldn't do anything about it. they both cared about Marley far too much for anything to happen between them. so tonight, Quinn was moving forward. he was doing what had to be done, and luckily... Celeste had to approve of this one. she really didn't have a choice, considering that Harper was Celeste's best friend. however, that remained another area of dangerous territory. the only difference was, of course, that Celeste actually knew about this date. Quinn didn't want to know what would happen if he dated Adalynn without Marley's consent. after grabbing a quick shower, Quinn pulled on his attire for the night, which consisted of his favorite jeans, paired with a v-neck t-shirt. he wasn't going over the top, because for once he wasn't going to a five-star restaurant. his mother and father wouldn't have been very pleased to hear such a thing, but Quinn wasn't usually one to care much for their opinions anyway. his family name came with quite a bit of money, and with that came the ability to do whatever he pleased. it helped that his family also possessed veela blood, but Quinn assumed that he could have been just as fine without it. it definitely gave him an advantage, but his father wasn't terrible looking, and he wasn't veela whatsoever. it was impossible not to be noticed, given the fact that he was half-veela. Quinn was reminded of this fact as he apparated into hogsmeade, stopping just short of the small cafe's door to glance around at the eyes of those who had suddenly turned to stare at him. if he was anyone but Quinn Harper, that might have been a little unnerving. but after so long, Quinn had strangely gotten used to it. a few seconds later, he stood in the small, surprisingly uncluttered cafe, glancing around for Harper Greyback. after looking for several seconds, he made his way to a small booth in the back, sliding into one of the seats and offering a smile to the waitress that made her way towards him. "can I have a few more minutes? I'm waiting for my date to arrive." of course, Quinn just happpened to be uncommonly early, but he wasn't about to order without Harper sitting across from him. despite his reputation, he wasn't as rude as some people made him out to be. 873 words, tagged for harper. <3 |
