Adalynn had never asked any questions about it though. she honestly didn't want to know about it. she didn't want to know how much her father had to bribe the other family. she didn't even want to know who the other family was. not even a single part of her had been curious as she grew up. she knew it was inevitable but she hated it. though she had worried that her parents may have approached the Harper's, given that Marley was her best friend. they had one gorgeous son, a son who ran amuck in Adalynn's thoughts. however, it hadn't been the Harper's at all who they had approached. oh no. it was the Sykes family. there wasn't anything wrong with the Sykes family. in fact they were a prestigious pureblood family and her parents were definitely happy for the match. Adalynn however, was anything but pleased. not only because she wasn't given a chance in who she got to marry but also because she loathed the Sykes boy. he had made her life hell when she was younger. she had no desire to give him the time of day now. they had crossed paths on a regular basis back at Hogwarts, given that they were both Slytherin's. she had been doing a damn good job of avoiding him since she came to the University though. that wasn't exactly true about just him though, she had been avoiding any guy that teased her in Hogwarts now a days. she didn't want to give them the time of day. especially now that her looks had finally altered, she had grown into herself as a matter of speaking. she didn't want to have to deal with them hitting on her like they had the right too. nothing annoyed her more to be honest. it was amusing to see the realization though when they finally discovered just who she was. most didn't have a clue that she was the same girl they used to taunt and tease. part of her was interested in what Blake's reaction might be, but a larger part of her just didn't care. Adalynn knew though that from here on out she could no longer avoid the man. her parents would want her to interact with him and if there was one thing she learned was that she didn't disobey her parents. tucking the letter away in her drawer next to her bed she sighed heavily. just when she thought her life couldn't get anymore complicated. here she was wanting a guy she couldn't have and now soon to be engaged to a man she didn't want. karma was definitely kicking her butt for something. running a hand through her long brown hair, Adalynn crossed the dorm she shared with her best friend and walked into the bathroom. shutting the door behind her she approached the sink. turning the cold water on, she cupped her hands beneath the water and splashed it lightly on her face. her mood was surprisingly mellow for the news she had just received but she saw no reason to flip out yet. gathering her hair over her shoulder then splashing cold water on her face once again. reaching for the towel kept by the sink she dried off her face then looked at her reflection. almost sure that Blake would like the girl she had turned into but that didn't change how she felt about him. turning the water off Adalynn went back to her shared dorm room and got dressed. the dinner between the Goyle's and the Sykes' was already scheduled and Adalynn severally hoped she didn't run into Blake until then. dressing in a pair of dark blue jeans with a blue three quarter length sleeve shirt. the neck line was a bit low cut, which was exactly why she had grabbed a sweater. the weather was beginning to get a bit more colder out lately, and it was about time she started dressing for it. grabbing her favorite pair of black peep toed pumps she picked up her purse and excused herself from the dorm. assuming Marley was probably in a class or off with one of the eight, Adalynn decided to go down to the Lake for a bit of light reading. stopping by the library and checking out a novel, she continued on towards the Lake. normally Adalynn couldn't wait until the weekend but the dinner with the families was looming for the friday night. part of her debated on not showing up, that would sure show them. yet she knew that her parents would simply come looking for her and then she'd be in for it. grumbling silently to herself she sat beneath a large oak tree just off the shore of the lake. a cool breeze was brushing across the campus, coming off the lake. tucking her feet beneath her she opened the book to the first page. even with the cool breeze, the sun was high in the sky making it a bit warm outside. unzipping her sweater since the grounds seemed pretty deserted thus far. reaching up and playing with the silver necklace that she wore day in and day out. she had bought a set for Marley and herself back when they were in their first year, best friend sort of thing. letting the necklace go she kicked off her pumps and stretched her feet out in front of her. perhaps the engagement was a god send. she may have hated Blake but at least now she didn't have to worry about messing up her friendship with Marley over Quinton. frowning to herself she shook her head and returned back to her book, oblivious of the world around her. 1158 WORDS , SHAY/BLAKE SYKES , her hating someone is something new! |
