[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i56.tinypic.com/2zgu9hc.jpg); width: 440px; padding-top:10px;] someone who cares --- ainsley felt worn out. she had just finished “reading” a book for her wandlore class, which actually meant the flint family house elf, pinkie, reading the book aloud to her. when ainsley wanted to take notes, she would ask pinkie to stop, then would speak to her special quill, which would write for her. it was a good system, one that she and pinkie had worked out years ago, just before ainsley had went to hogwarts. ainsley wouldn’t have made it this far without pinkie, as their special system and pinkie’s quiet encouragement was one of the things ainsley really relied on during her time at hogwarts. without pinkie… ainsley would have been a goner. her dyslexia was a true burden for ainsley, a learning disability that nothing, not even magic, could cure. in fact, when the flints had first went to st. mungos to figure out what was wrong with ainsley, the healers hadn’t known. they had suggested that the flints go to a muggle doctor to figure it out, since none of the healers had a clue on what dyslexia was. but the muggle doctor had known. after receiving a lollipop and doing a few simple tests, ainsley found out she had dyslexia. it was a real shame that magic and technology couldn’t cooperate together. while the doctor had been lecturing costas and ara flint on possible ways on how to manage ainsley’s dyslexia, he had shown them what a “laptop” and an “audiobook” were. they were very cool pieces of muggle technology. while watching the doctor show the flint parents the audiobooks and laptops, ainsley had wished, for a flicker of a second, that she was a muggle. then she would be able to manage her dyslexia more easily. but her parents beliefs had kicked in, and that thought hadn’t lasted long. the flints hadn’t used any of the suggestions that the doctor had given, as they worked better for muggles, not wizards. and her parents hadn’t allowed ainsley to take any extra lollipops. instead of using the muggle doctor’s suggestions, the flints had created their own solution. they ordered some special expensive quills for ainsley to write with, and worked a system out with pinkie and the school board for hogwarts. but in a way, it was good that ainsley wasn’t a muggle. because then she wouldn’t have met her best friends, or be able to major in wandlore. her best friends were the most amazing best friends ever. they had went through almost all the shame things ainsley had went through, from being an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. and they had all had to deal with the new attention, just like ainsley. if she ever needed advice, she could just go to one of them, or aria. her older sister was very supportive of ainsley, which was good, since ainsley needed support when it came to her new attention, fashion, and the knowledge of which boys were good and which boys were worthy to be slapped. in other words, the knowledge that only big sisters could give. ainsley was lucky that she had such a good relationship with aria. not all siblings were as close as ainsley and aria were. take the perlin half-brothers for example. benedikt perlin, mainly known as ben, was aria’s best friend. his younger half-brother, maddox, wasn’t liked by ben, and the half-brothers didn’t seem to be very close. as her mind wandered, ainsley placed down her wandlore book and left her dorm. she was in the mood to see one of her friends. she hadn’t seen them in a while, thanks to classes and homework and essays. not sure which one of her seven best friends she should see, ainsley decided just to walk around campus and have the subconscious part of her mind decide where she would go. ainsley took a small bag of chocolate with her, and then she was off. ainsley slowly unwrapped the golden wrapper off a piece of chocolate slowly as she walked. she began to nibble the piece, then looked around at the campus. the university grounds were pretty, and ainsley lost herself in the flowers near the dorm buildings. she couldn’t help but sniff each flower as she passed by, sniffing in the delicious scents of each one. ainsley had always liked the smell of flowers. they had always just smelled so… nice. if ainsley would ever make amortensia, the most strongest love potion in the world with a smell unique to each and every person, it would probably smell of fresh flowers. soon, there were no flowers to sniff, just a dorm building entrance to open. ainsley opened it, and sighed as the air conditioning breezed through her. it was a pleasant, cooling sensation. after walking up a couple of staircases, ainsley stopped in front of a dorm. it was adalynn’s dorm, one of her best friends and her cousin. is that where she wanted to be today? well, thjat’s what it seemed like. without hesitating, ainsley knocked on the door of adalynn’s dorm. tag: adalynn ! word count: 843 lyric credit: demi lovato notes: enjoy! |
