sometimes there were moments or even days where Adalynn wished that she would be back to her awkward self. to the days when no one paid attention to her, where she could just blend in with the shadows. those were the days that she was used too and could handle. she didn't like the new found attention she got when she went places. heads turning in her direction like she was someone important. men offering her things just because of how she looked. other girls might enjoy those sorts of things but Adalynn definitely wasn't one of them. these guys who paid attention to her solely because of house she looked got on her nerves. when she blended into the shadows none of them even turned their heads her way unless their parents made them. those were of course only the pureblood ones who knew better then to disobey their parents. the guys who were made to dance with her simply because of her last name and who escaped the moment no body was looking. that was the way she was used to being treated and sometimes that was almost how she preferred it. she knew it was odd, not wanting guys to drool over her or be at her beck and call but the thing was she didn't know what to do with that attention. never really having it before, having always to work for even a little bit of lime-light. that was what she was used to. she was never envious of those girls that had all the attention on them. unless of course that attention was Quinton's they were capturing. mainly because she didn't want a guy who wanted her solely on how she looked. she wanted someone who wanted her because of what was on the inside and she was determined, once and for all get to what she wanted. just because her looks had changed as she entered university didn't mean her personality did. she suddenly didn't turn into someone massive over confident bitch simply because she had a few curves now. she was still her same old self just in this new body. a body that sometimes didn't feel like her own.
when she was a child, she had become aware that people found it hard to believe she was her mothers child. her mother was and always had been a rather gorgeous women. so for her to have this awkwardly daughter, it just didn't make sense. as she grew older it wasn't as though her mother was the most encouraging women. she didn't tell Adalynn that eventually she would grow into herself. that the awkwardness was just a prolonged stage of life. no, instead she was told much more awful stuff that lead her to believe that was how she'd be forever. things that had made her accept who she was and make the most out of her life instead of mopping around about it. in a way it had helped Adalynn a ton, she saw that now, but it had been rough until she got to Hogwarts. now though, her mother couldn't be happier that she was her daughter and tried to warp her into the women she wanted her to be. it amazed Adalynn how much her mother had changed in the past two years, but nonetheless it pleased her. all her life she had tried so hard for her mothers approval and she couldn't help but feel good to finally have it. even if it wasn't in the way she wanted. it may have been a bit hypocritical of her, to enjoy the attention her mother gave her because of her looks.
these were the thoughts that plagued her as she laid in bed on a dull Saturday morning. rain had struck, which wasn't much of a surprise for england. they spent majority of their days covered by grey clouds and falling rain. it did however put a damper on Adalynn's plans for that day. she had the day off from Madam Malkin's which didn't happen to often on the weekends. usually her days that weren't full of studies were full of work and she actually enjoyed that. finding something to do on her days off was often a challenge. most of her friends had school and careers much like herself so coordinating with them was difficult at times. she did have every intention of waking early and heading down to the park nearby to enjoy a book. with the constant down pour of rain though, it looked like she'd be forced to stay in. not that the rain bothered her by any means, she just knew reading a soggy book wasn't easy. pushing the covers aside and running her hand through her hair she sighed softly. she'd simply have to find something else to do with her time. venturing into the bathroom, the light turning on as she entered, Adalynn paused to look at her reflection. it had taken some time to get used to the girl that was starring back at her and to be honest she still wasn't completely used to it. it felt almost like a dream or a nightmare sometimes. shaking her head, she stepped further into the bathroom and turned on the shower. a nice hot shower should clear her mind, she hoped.
only once under the stream of hot water her mind switched from her looks and her hypo-criticalness to something else. well, rather someone else. he was really the bane of her existence. Quinton Harper. yes, her best friends twin brother. she knew it was rather wrong to have a crush on her best friends brother. she was sure though that she wasn't the first girl to do so and she probably wouldn't be the last. Adalynn didn't like having a crush on the man, in fact she'd prefer if she didn't. he was notorious for sleeping around and breaking girls hearts. not only that but she was sure he barely knew she existed. if he did, it was probably only because of Marley or her parents. this however didn't stop her from thinking about him. from the soft blues of his eyes to his over the top arrogance. something she knew wasn't a good thing, but it was something she had grown used too, almost. it wasn't as though they had tons of interaction with one another. he was part of a completely different crowd then herself, but he did live in the same house as Marley. which meant running into him more then she normally liked. each time that she did happen to run into him, her breath would catch and she would become nervous. at first she thought it simply because she wasn't used to interacting with guys but as it continued she discovered it was much more. especially when she could converse with other guys just fine when she needed too. she could up hold a conversation, even about quidditch when the time arose. with Quinton though it was a different story all together. yes, she preferred to call him Quinton as well. she wasn't one of his females nor was she a friend so she wouldn't call him Quinn.
sighing heavily and pushing her head back under the water, in attempt to wash away the thoughts of Quinn. it never worked for very long but it was a temporary fix. finishing off her shower, Adalynn returned to her room. dressing in a pair of form fitting skinny jeans, with a white tee shirt and a pink lace shirt over top. finishing off her assemble with a pair of pink pumps and grabbing her rain coat, she was ready for a venture outdoors. where she would go she wasn't exactly sure but she was sure she'd find somewhere to go. exiting her apartment, with her purse and umbrella in hand Adalynn stood on the street debating which direction to go. left would take her towards the wizarding world and right would take her into the muggle district of London. chewing on her lower lip she finally opted for left. with her heels clicking with each step she took, weaving her way in and out of people until stepping into Diagon Alley. she knew she could have just apperated but walking was always her first thought. the moment the soft aroma of coffee drifted by her it was almost as though her feet knew exactly where to go. shaking the rain from her umbrella she turned to enter the coffee shop but instead bumped into someone. a soft omph left her lips as she steadied herself and looked at the person she walked into. "please forgive me. it was completely my fault! allow me to purchase you a new beverage?" all left her lips before she could really stop herself. biting down on the inside of her cheek she stopped and shoved her hands into her pockets. "um, sorry." Adalynn added blushing a little. obviously good first impressions weren't her thing.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.tinypic.com/wb98wn.jpg');,true] FADE TO BLACK !
Rain definitely wasn’t Blake’s thing, at least not during the day. At night, he had no problem going for walks, clearly his mind and wandering aimlessly around the dead streets. There was something about when it was light out at the same time that ruined any chances of him doing his wandering- that and the streets weren’t dead during the day, rain or shine. Opening a door to exit a café, Blake felt himself suddenly burning up. Perplexed for a moment, he finally registered that someone had knocked into him, causing his drink to spill onto his clothing. Sighing, he hadn’t caught a look at the culprit quite yet but the voice insinuated that it was a female. Not getting upset or flustered, Blake was in a distant place mentally. The day that had been passing him day, along with the one before, was all a blur. He was finally ready to take the step that he had been waiting to for years. For an average person, ‘the step’ would most likely be understood as an engagement to the desired partner, or even a virgin deciding that they were ready to have sex for the first time. For Blake Sykes, it was moving out with his youngest, squib sister. The Sykes family hadn’t always been one that the dark haired boy was ashamed to be in, but these days it was never anything but. Everything had changed when his youngest sister didn’t show any signs of magical powers, nor receive a letter from any of the magical schools in the country. Their dad wouldn’t have it. He refused to have people know that he had a living child that wasn’t ‘special’ in the way that they all were, especially with her pureblood. It was then that the rumors started spreading, seemingly by his father of all people, that she had committed suicide and was no longer breathing. Tight rules were set in place for the children, none of them allowed to utter a single word about their sister to the outside world. Blake, to this day, couldn’t fully grasp why he had always listened, but in retrospect it had been to protect his sister from any further harm their dad could bring on her from wrath sprung up from the slightest situation. For years now Blake had been planning ways to get her out of the house and away to a safe environment, where she could live and not be thought of as a dead man. It was a way no one should ever have to live, especially for as long as she had too. Purchasing an apartment, paying in cash and casting enchantments around the place, Blake had ensured that his father wouldn’t be able to track them down. At least, he hoped he wouldn’t be able too- he only knew so much magic, although everything he knew and could find out had been put to use as a precaution. If he could help it, no harm would ever come to his sister again. Ever.
The apartment was located in the muggle world. His father didn’t like muggles, therefore he didn’t venture into their world unless some mandatory event came up- which was so unlikely they made jokes about it at his work. It wasn’t anything spectacular, but it was what he could afford without having to go into his trust fund. Although it was his and eventually, he would tap into it, he didn’t want to get into it now. Blake was more than capable of bringing in money for the two of them to live a good life. Both of them had their own rooms, with a guest bedroom off to the back of the apartment. A walk-out balcony was located outside of the living room. When roaming through potential houses to buy, Blake had known that a patio would be something his sister would love. She hadn’t been outside much; therefore fresh air would be good for her. The morning air was beautiful, rain or shine. The sight was relaxing to look out of and he had only spent two nights in it, one of which his sister had joined him for good. If the place hadn’t been comfortable, or noise from below them had travelled up he would have known to add some spells before she arrived. Because she was a squib, Blake had wanted to get all of the stuff only he would be able to do before she moved in, that way she wouldn’t potentially get depressed. He never had asked her how she felt about being the only one who was.. Different. Putting himself in her shoes, he suspected that he would feel quite down that he was the only one who couldn’t do magical things. Wasn’t that the type of thing- or at least one of the things- that girls dreamt about while growing up? Magic? Thinking was typically something that Blake never let himself get lost in unless he was in the middle of a huge grassy held, like the one his best friend had in the back of her yard down the street from his parents house, as crashing into objects or, people like what had just happened, was the result. People often were too noisy when others around them zoned out, and he didn’t like anyone getting into his business unless he invited them in. He had always been this way, and it wasn’t like asking a zillion and one questions was going to change that in any way.
Now that he was living on his own, there would be no more pureblood gala’s that he would have to go to unwillingly, faking that he liked everybody and that his family was more prefect than the rest, when honestly it was the furthest from. He had despised every gathering for years, and really only not sat down and put up a huge fit because he had met girls to get down and dirty with afterwards, ones that were there scouting for the same thing in a male accomplice. A win-win situation. Recognizing the girl who had crashed into him, or whom he had crashed into- which way it was didn’t matter to him- was a girl he had seen at a few of the gatherings. ”Adalynn. Hey. It’s me, Blake. Come down. I’ll get you another, and don’t worry about the shirt. It wasn’t that expensive anyways.”

[/b] his voice was slow, quiet and smooth as always. Shaking his head to one side to allow his air to fall back into place, the brunette threw away the cup he had in hand, moving back inside, away from the rain. At least now he would have to get another drink, leaving him out of the rain for longer. There had been no way that he would have stayed in the pub alone. Now that he had somebody with him, there was a possibility that, if she didn’t mind, he’d sit and talk to her for awhile over coffee (or hot chocolate if she wasn’t a fan of caffeine.) Placing his hand on the lower, curved part of her part, he gently guided her out of the path of the door and into the opening of the café. ”So what is your posion?”[/b] Blake asked, eyebrows raised. This was definitely a good way to get his mind off of everything that had been happening the last few days, as change wasn’t something he wanted to wrap his mind around twenty-four seven, or else he ended up having a hazy mind like he had no more than a minute before. Unsure of what she preferred, he hoped that she really would put off the incident without much of a fuss, as he wasn’t upset and when things were made a big deal out of, he never was too sure of how to respond. there's a fire starting in my heart reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.tinypic.com/wb98wn.jpg');,true] ROLLING IN THE DEEP !
one thing that Adalynn had never been good at was talking to guys. she didn't have much experience with it, so it wasn't exactly something she could practice. guys generally didn't pay her any attention. she was the odd girl out until she had met her friends in Hogwarts. they had made her feel accepted and brought out some of her confidence. not all of it mind you, since talking to a guy still made her completely nervous. she might not have stuttered or anything like that but her hands got all sweaty and she became very jittery. almost like she couldn't sit or stand still. the only real interaction she had with guys over her life was when she was forced to dance with one at a pureblood gala. there wasn't much talking involved and by the time she did think of something to say, the dance was over and the guy was gone. she never did classify taunting or teasing as a form of interaction either because she was always on the wrong end of those deals. it was needless to say that the attention she was getting from guys now a days wasn't something she was used too. she didn't know how to deal with it. nor did she know how to respond to it. all the girls she hung out with, the eight of them, were all going through the same thing. it was helpful in a way, since they could laugh about it. in another way though it wasn't helpful because neither of them were anywhere closer to coming up with a solution on how to handle the new found attention. Adalynn was increasingly thankful for her friends though because it was getting harder and harder to know who to trust. who was sincere and who wasn't. people were fake, this was something she had learned far to early in life.
rambling was a natural reaction for Adalynn when it came to guys. it was just another nervous act for her. especially when faced with a guy whom she knew from her past. Blake Sykes wasn't a guy she knew well but she knew him from the pureblood events. it didn't surprise her too much that he knew her name. it was just one of those things amongst pureblood families. anyone who was anyone knew the names of any important pureblood family. even if Adalynn wasn't considered important by her family, her last name was important. the Goyle's were a proud name amongst the pureblood world. a family whom stood true throughout the years, always keeping the blood line untainted. it was something that was never really important to Adalynn, but something she kept up with for her parents sake. merlin knew her mother practically made her study the names of every pureblood family that would be attending any gala or event at their manor. even as a child. Blake was someone she had spoken too a few times, danced with a few times through their parents suggestion and that was it. they seemed to float about in different circles at Hogwarts so there wasn't much interaction required. this didn't make her feel any less awkward or bad for destroying his shirt. nevermind the fact that she probably burned the poor boy due to her clumsiness. "please allow me to pay for another shirt? or at least get that one dry cleaned?" she suggested, biting down upon her lower lip afterwards. how bad she felt clearly written across her features. Adalynn was sure he had a ton of shirts but she still felt bad for ruining this particular one. what if it had been his favorite? granted if she showed up at her dorm with a guys shirt, it would raise a bunch of questions. mainly from Marley but she would deal with that, it would be simple to explain.
"are you burned or hurt in any way?" she asked, her eyes skimming over his chest where the coffee was clinging to his shirt. a blush creeping into her cheeks as she did so. "if so i can take you to St Mungo's. i'll even wait with you." it sounded silly, but burns were a serious thing. she had burned herself a few times well making cookies and they often left marks, ones she was sure he wouldn't want on his chest. tucking a strand of hair behind her ear she followed him into the coffee shop. figuring it was best if they moved out of the door way, didn't need to cause any more accidents. nor did she need to cause him any more harm. Adalynn couldn't help but notice an almost calming note in his voice. it was soothing in a way she had to admit. taking a deep breath to calm herself down, even if it was just the smallest bit. doing her best to not jump out of her skin when she felt the hand on the small of her back she bite down on the inside of her cheek. he was just being friendly, was something she was repeating to herself inside her head. "poison?" she asked, with a bit of a question to her tone. "oh! my drink!" blushing at her foolishness she laughed awkwardly. "um, just a tea is good for me thanks." Adalynn wasn't sure why he was replacing their drinks when it was her that walked into him.
"it should really be me replacing our drinks. after all, i walked into you." she couldn't help but allow the apologetic tone return as she looked at him. "at least let me get you something sweet? a brownie? cookie? or even a muffin if you don't have a sweet tooth?" shifting upon her heeled feet as they waited in line. "i'm not keeping you from anything, am i?" this whole small talk thing was never really her thing but she was aiming at giving it a try. looking around the cafe as they waited for their turn in line she couldn't help but notice how all the female eyes were directly on the guy next to her. it had never passed Adalynn how attractive Blake was, he always had been. even as a child. he often fell under the category of the guys she'd never have a chance with when she was in her Hogwarts years. not because she made it that was but just because that was usually how it was. guys like him didn't usually associate with her. Adalynn though was usually about giving people a chance, she didn't judge them. simply because she had been judged all her life so she wouldn't subject someone to that. who knew where this run in would lead her.
